Depends on how much block and dodge you have. The ogres lack tackle and block so they might just push you about.

Idan wins 3-1 as he gets all the dodge and ball handling dice he needs to escape the meat grinder. Coach id3nt1ty calls for investigation into indestructible rubber Skinks.

Fables won a moral victory though, smashing away their grief at the loss of Fairy Godmother on the thin blue hides of the Sauri. The Fables were not so feeble this match...

Lets hope their injury streak continues next week against The Mastercheesers.

P.S. Another so called "Star Player" is killed, and the Fables have invited the reanimated corpse of Slibli to join their ranks.

Just realised I didn't reply to this, sorry Moose!

Friday should be fine. I'll post during the day if there's an issue.

Rav - I will have to postpone tomorrow's game. I don't know yet whether I will be available during the week to try and catch it up. Many apologies.

Just the same as Moose, let me know and we'll figure something out. Don't worry about tonight anyway.

Is anyone free for a friendly? I have a hankering for some Khemri goodness!

Hey Moose! I'll be around then, that's 3:30 for me in Miami. Although if you're not around by 9 (4 for me) I'll probably have wandered off by then. Can reschedule if need be!

That said, I myself will have to reschedule the One Hit Wonderz and The Nermal Distribution games. I'll be gone the next 2 weekends for a bachelor party and wedding, respectively.

Mastercheesers blow title chances with Feeble 2-1 defeat

Identity played very well and a few of my scoring chances didn't quite work out - and in a bizarre coincidence nobody else in the world will notice or care about my support blitzer is out for another title crunch showdown match!! ARG WHO CAN STOP GERTRUDE NOW

Wait - I think id3 has to write this one up ;)

Fables beat The Mastercheesers 2-1, after a brutal game that really could have gone either way.

I won the toss and chose to receive, but la ruined my plans of slowly grinding up the field by stealing the ball from Grimble, Badly Hurting him in the processes, and scoring by turn four. He kicked to me and I made a good show of scoring my turn 8, injuring some rats on the way. I set up for la's turn 8 receive fully expecting a one-turn attempt, and it came. La spotted the hole in my defence and managed to dodge right through, only to fail the single GFI required to make it 2-1 at half time.

The second half started with la receiving, and I was almost expecting another one-turn attempt, but decided to go for a more aggressive line-up. La was running low on rats at this point, so had to risk using a Stormvermin as the ball-receiver. I was unable to take the Stormvermin down, but as it attempted to escape from the Fables to score it failed the dodge and the ball went free. The Fables outnumbered the rats by a quite significant margin at this point, so it was really a case of securing the ball and then making sure the rats had no chance to get it back. A hand-off to Boy Blue meant I could run the ball right up the pitch, when I stalled for four turns, generally blocking and fouling rats to make sure they couldn't prevent a win.

Well played la, I thoroughly enjoyed playing you once again. Shame about those critical dice rolls!

Ho ho, Critical Dice Rolls.

Ahem, anyway. Percy isn't completely useless, PirlOrc get's KO'ed twice, The Break Tackle Krox goes from Zero (failing 50%ish Boneheads) to Hero(ish) dodging about a bit and... hmmm, yeah. A 0-0 draw. Not quite as dull as it sounds... I'd prefer a defensive masterclass from both teams.

http://gandalfgames.net/bbdb/matchdetai ... tch_id=133

The Duckz receive first half, and struggle to make any real progress for most of the half, Idan proving his skinks are made of rubber and positioning very well... Leroy final proves he's got the biggest muscles and helps to make a hole for PilrOrc to break through... PirlOrc gets KO'ed by the big blummin' Krox but manages to Dump Off to Harriet who just needs to not fall over to score before the end of the half... oh look, she fell over. Idiot.

0-0 half time.

2nd Half the Duckz set up to try stall the Wonders as long as possible... the skinks bounce about yet again and dodge like little... er, dodgy things and the Ducks settle for columns as opposed to taking on Morg & the Krox... Harriet then sees a chance to redeem herself from her first half idiocy by dodging a bit and sacking the skink ball carrier - ball goes off the field into the Duckz crowd who get lob it back into the safety of the Duckz columns... then lots of idiocy happens when most of the Duckz refuse to pick up the ball for a bit, but thankfully the Krox goes back to Zero and boneheads a bit. PirlOrc takes charge, picks the ball up, blitzes free, lines up a pass to Harriet who can score... but the PirlOrc realises he's done too much already and gets hit in the head (again) by the Krox; setting up a tense final turn for the lizards who can score to win... but the Skink fluffs his lines and wangs the ball of the pitch instead of to the skink in the endzone.

0-0 full time.

Draw felt like a fair result, the ladz were happy to have stopped the indestructible skinks and Idan defended very very well.

Shame neither team could take advantage of the league leaders slipping up, but this does make the next few weeks a bit interesting...

We both wanted to win but it wasn't the be all and end all of playing. Thanks Abom :)

MOOSE UNDEAD VS ABOM GOBBOS Recap

Gobbos choose to receive. Clock runs for 2 turns.

Moose does a front-heavy formation. Skeleton King the Troll stuns a zombieton on the left side of the pitch, right on the edge. Gobbos elect to use this stunned undead corpse as a body block for a pseudo half-cage as the rookie Pogoer, Iguana On a Stick the II, rushes forward.

o= gobbo or troll
S= stunned
x= empty space
|= edge of pitch

|So
|ox
|xo

Every goblin rushes to try to cover the slow undead. Every player except for one wight is marked. Some blocks happen. An attempt is made on the cage by a ghoul but it fails. Nothing too big... except Pudge the Troll is taken out of the game right away, not having eaten his Ravaging Regena-Cornflakes this morning.

Next turn the Pogoer continues dancing on the edge of the pitch. Thankfully no one can quite reach him, altho the wight from before is still free... The wight can get right next to him *if* the wight does 2 GFIs and force Iguana to do 2 dodges. This was a calculated on my part, I was going to do one leap 4+ with reroll, pray, and ideally score, while the slow undead struggle to even reach the relevant part of the pitch.

Lots of blocks happen and Moose uses a reroll on one. The wight goes for the 2 GFIs to cover the Pogoer... and falls! Success! Iguana rushes forward and scores on turn 3 or 4, 1-0 for the Gobbos.

Image
Iguana On a Stick the II likes to pretend he's Batman sometimes, and wishes to avenge his dead father by taking it out on the fans, one stupid leap at a time.

Moose doesn't make much headway with his 4 turns and is successfully blocked off.

Halftime: We enter the 2nd half with few relevant injuries other than the Badly Hurt Pudge Troll.

Crystal Maiden the crossdressing goblin kicks the ball deep into the undead pitch, right at the edge of the end, masterfully done. The Undead respond with an amazing Very Long or Long pass and successful catch. They cage up near the line of scrimmage.

Techies, the Mad Bomber from the West, successfully bombs his own team after rolling a modified and then a natural 1 on a reroll. Having accomplished his mission, he decides not to throw any more bombs the rest of the match.

Image
Techies had neither his smaller brother to make his aim true, nor his patented Trollglasses™ to block out the sun when he looked up to throw the bomb.

Most of the rest of the half continues as follows: The Undead try to march down the pitch, moving 1-3, usually 2 squares at a time. The gobbos have them blocked off with two to three 2-man columns, and an allmighty resilience, as the goblins both refuse to get injured or even get knocked down for a good many turns. Finally tho, they start to go down and their luck runs out. The columns are reduced to one man each... and knocked out of the way. Moose scores on Turn 14 or so, after a failed chainsaw attempt on the ghoulish ball-carrier (17% chance of failure...) 1-1, tied!

While on the sidelines, Pudge the Troll calls Percy and his lot on the phone.

Image
"Oy, is this Percy?"

Image
"Just got out me game. Wut's wut mate, I'm 'utting da stunty cake f' me boy's daybirth patty."

Pudge receives some nice information: Trolls can in fact move *and then* pick up a stunty and throw 'em. He whispers this secret strategy to Skeleton King over a SPEEKAFONE, letting not only Skeleton King know, but also the enemy team, the enemy coach, the fans, the battling Orcs and Humans in the pub 3 cities over, and even a welsh Gandalf who had been smoking too much.

Image
"You can move then throw a stunty? That's ruddy mysterious," said Gandalf before muttering mystical incantations including such phrases as '4/20' and 'blaze it'.

So the gobbos leave Skeleton King off the frontlines, hoping to avoid tackle zone throw penalties. They receive the ball... and it lands not completely outside of range. Crystal Maiden sees Hope Solo in the stadium and puts on her best ball-snatching dress, hoping to impress her best friend. (S)he runs forward... picks up the ball... hands it off to some brave soul... Skeleton King runs forward in front of the brave soul...... picks up the lad.......... *refuses* to eat him, for he had had his Regena-cornflakes that morning........ the brave soul is thrown forward..... refuses to fall... and he runs forward, doing 1 GFI and scoring the winning touchdown!

Pudge was never to be doubted again as the gobbos take the game 2-1 and Skeleton King proves that he truly does hold power over the undead, even if there is flesh on his bones.

Good game moose, and it seems we'll be battling for the bottom rungs of the ladder together. I wish you and all similarly placed teams (Underworld) good luck. :D Our day will come...
