Blood Bowl 2016 Edition - Tabletop

Postby Raveen » Tue Nov 08, 2016 12:31 pm

So the new box has been announced and will be on pre-order as of the 12th and available on the 25th.

The box contains 12 Orcs (2 blitzers, 2 BOBs, 2 Throwers and 6 Linemen) and 12 Humans (2 Blitzers, 2 Catchers, 2 Throwers and 6 Linemen), pitch (32mm squares so bigger than 3rd ed but same proportions), dugouts, dice and ruler (scaled to the new size). Rules will be for one off games (essentially the same as CRP, human catchers drop to 60k) only.

Also available on the 25th will be Deathzone, a book with further teams and league rules, a Skaven team (12 minis, not sure on positions but I don't think there are 4 GRs) and a set of 7 Skaven dice (3BD, 2D6, 1D8 and 1D16).

Prices as I understand them:

Game Box - £65
Deathzone book - £20?
Skaven Team - £25
Dice - £10ish

My cunning plan is to get it for Chrimbo from the family. Anyone else going to grab this?

I really wish I could get a Khemri team. GW haven't made one yet, and won't be for a while. I really like the Willy Miniatures one but I just can't justify it. :(

Never a fan of GW's obsession with releasing "additions" to the rules.
Especially when you know all the rules up front, and know most players will need the league rules.

Blatant cashing in ain;t it.

I think it sort of makes sense - the box is what you need to play a game, the league rules are then additional. I take your point though. Although I can't really argue with GW making a profit on their IP and it's notable that the 3rd party mini makers are keeping them honest on that front. £20-25 for a team is pretty good. Although they've managed to make it so you'll need to buy a booster pack to get all the positionals.

I don't particularly intend to buy GW stuff if I don't have to, I'll see what's best value and go for that.
