Re: Blood Bowl 2
Wood elves are no more unbalanced than Nurgle. It just depends on league format and stage of development.

Anyone that can make a CPOMB player is cheating.
Wood Elves also don't need a treeman, maybe some kind of 'lesser than halflings' tree.
I also thought Khorne were rubbish, but playing them they turn out to be an interesting, (challenging) team. They don't fit the fluff all that well, but game play should come before fluff Anyway.
I'll play BB2 when/if I get a computer that will play it, and its cheaper, and it has more teams. 9 teams isn't enough variation to make it appealing yet.

Why thank you

Raveen wrote:So what's official and not is a strangely tricky question. My take is stop worrying about it so long as the given roster is fun and not unbalanced. And none of the current rosters are unbalanced except arguably wood elves.
I want to see someone else play wood elves, and/or see the Wanderers against other high TV teams. I think part of the reason for their success is their continued huge TV advantage over others (thanks to a cheating apothecary). The only team that came close to them in TV last season were the orcs, and the last match with them went to overtime. Rav & nj have fairly high-valued elf teams now, we should have a game sometime...?
Wood elves, CDwarves & Vampire are the only non-stunty teams that RTBBL have only seen one of.

Yeah, I basically picked them out of the elf teams because they got a big guy. They might well be the best elf roster even without him, I know some players don't like having a tree in the team.
Re: Blood Bowl 2
We've had two Chaos Dwarf teams, Wyld played them in season 2. Only 1 regular Dwarf team in official league play though.
Re: Blood Bowl 2
Oh and my elf team lost a 3 skill blitzer in their last game so probably aren't a fair comparison with the Wanderers at this time. Actually the exact same thing applies to my farm elf team. Spooky!
Wood elves are faster than Pro-Elves although the pro catchers are better imo. That's more than balanced by ear dancers being amazing. The tree really helps fill a gap in the squad by shoring up the los and giving an option for guard. Their speed means that they can run the ball easily and the wardancers give them cage busting abilities that took several skill ups to replicate on my elf team.
So I'd say that wood elves are the best elf roster, although not the most fun necessarily. I plan to play all the rosters so I'll get to them at some point but not for a while i think.

OK... so more precisely, Wood elves, CDwarves & Vampire are the only non-stunty teams that RTBBL according to BBDB has seen only seen one of.
No team is a fair comparison as no team has a TV even particularly close to the Wanderers(2340 from memory). But they're just about as good as it gets at the moment. Ear dancers sound fun.
I dunno, Level 1 wardancers are pretty fun, leaps are always exciting whether they work out or not.

Re: Blood Bowl 2
Another reason for not getting BB2 until they fix it... How inducements work
From here:
http://www.thenaf.net/blood-bowl/online/bb2/
Also 'Stadium Buffs' ?!?! Idiocy.
Not to mention that the higher TV team gets to choose inducements last, with any cash they transfer into petty cash not counting towards their TV.
So you can have a 1150 team vs a 1200 team. The 1150 team buys a babe, then the 1200 team transfers 150K into petty cash and buys a wizard. The 1150 team does not get any more enducements, and then the 1200 team gets the 150K back after the match...

Re: Blood Bowl 2
From that link - it looks to be the "Away" team that chooses last, rather than the per se higher TV team (unless I've misunderstood it.) But the general point is the same. It sounds like it misses the point of inducements. However, is part of the shock down to how our league uses petty cash at the moment? I can't remember anyone ever using it... I've sort-of figured it was frowned upon in the league, though I don't recall anyone saying anything, so stayed away from it. Any thoughts?
Being contentious - I like the idea of stadium buffs! More variety is good!

Re: Blood Bowl 2
BB1 - Taking petty cash doesn't really help you, because it's broken, so no-one uses them. It basically just adds up to giving your opponent more free cash; or if you are the team who would be getting, say, 100k inducements, but you add 50k of your own money to make it up to a wizard... you get bumberklaarted because the game takes your 50k OFF the free 100k so you only end up with 50k to spend... I suppose, if you already had the superior TV and you REALLY wanted a wizard and you had too much money already you could add 150k yourself, but then you'd give the enemy an extra 150k FOR FREE so he'd get a free wizard.
BB2 - After the home player has decided what they want to do, the away team, which, lets say is already the higher TV, gets to decide what to do about inducements; like the bit above said, they add 150k from their kitty to take a wizard, and so gain an even BIGGER advantage than they already had... then to add isult to injury they get the 150k BACK again after the match!
Like, inducements are there to give the underdog an opportunity to to even things up, to make a fairer matchup, and hoefully, a more exciting game (depending on which way you look at it... Im sure PirlOrc & Co would happily play a snotling team who never spend inducements every week and have a cracking time...). But, in both games the Inducements are broken.
I believe that there's already plenty of variety with what there is in vanilla blood bowl without even the weather...

Just noticed BB2 is £10.49 today, if anyone is interested.
Re: Blood Bowl 2
They've announced Blood Bowl 2 Legendary edition for release "this summer". Essentially it will contain everything in the original, all the DLC since then, more races, and more game modes and such. I think that will be the version that I will actually get. When it's on sale.
