We've all been a bit baffled by the adding petty cash thing and I think I've got to the bottom of it.
Let's consider a situation where I have a TV that is 100 less than my opponent and I have 150k in cash. I will get 100k in inducement money. If I add 50k of petty cash it takes my TV up by 50 so I receive 50k less inducement money. So I still only have 100k to spend on inducements.
On the other hand I could add my whole 150k to the petty cash giving my 150k to spend on inducements. This would boost my TV by 150 giving my opponent 50k of inducement money to spend.
If I do nothing my opponent might choose to add some of his petty cash in which case I would receive the same in inducement money.
It's a stupid fudge of a system but there we go.

Re: Petty Cash and Inducements
You lost me somewhere from the 4th sentence on.
It sounds like there is no reason whatsoever to add money as it will just reduce your inducements for no gain?

There is no reason whatsoever to add money under the value of the TV difference if you have a lower TV to start with
If you have the Higher TV, you can get some inducement money, but your opponent will get the same amount added onto his inducements.
Horrible system. I can kind of see what it is aiming for but doesn't really make sense.

Re: Petty Cash and Inducements
It was a late stage change by Jervis Johnson instead of the much better bank rule (which was ironically deemed too complicated).
At least we know now that there's little to no point adding petty cash to inducement money. It's annoying because I'd happily add 10k to 40k of inducements to be able to afford a babe. Ah well.

Re: Petty Cash and Inducements
OK, so the only time you should think about adding money on that screen is if you have a) a higher team value, b) spare money and c) want to spend it on inducements?
Re: Petty Cash and Inducements
or d) You're the lower team value but want to add more cash than you are currently getting in inducement money and don't mind your opponent getting free money.
But basically, yeah, never.
