Was a fun game! Both teams played up to their stereotypes. As you say it all turned on the Ogres having "that terrible turn" that happens not infrequently in Ogre games. I couldn't be bothered with turns of standing around in the second half - and would probably lose a war of attrition anyway, so I went for the glory play, which failed, but not in the manner that was expected :p I don't think I've laughed more during a game of blood bowl than this one. That snotling throw was just classic. A shame my snotling couldn't knock over your ball carrier with a 3D-against block in turn 16 though :p

Post-game my most recent Ogre recruit got his first level-up and got +AG so I now have two AG3 ogres :D Also Pinocchio the ever-present snotling got YET ANOTHER MVP so he is now level 4, which is all sorts of wrong. He has injured himself for the next game though, a chance to reflect on his new-found superpowers. It also gives a chance for someone else to get the MVP.... Team Shrek will definitely come back at some point in the future, they have too many interesting level-ups not to...

The Corporate Representative from Chanelf was confused. He scratched his perfectly golden haired head again.

"So let me get this straight, Mr Commissioner, we at Chanelf sponsored a Blood Bowl tournament to promote both our enigmatic and beautiful scent but also the skilful and elegant playstyle we so admire in the elven teams. You took our sponsorship money and created a tournament for teams with the best catching abilities in your league. And now you tell me that the finalists, the paragons of this elegant and stylish form of low contact, high skill sport are some stinking Lizardmen and some dead humans from the Khemri wastes? Do you really expect us to believe that you didn't just embezzle the money and draft any old idiots for your tournament?"

The elf was as angry as it was possible for him to be. At least he smelled good.

Ha!

Very good

:-)

The Lizards don't stink that much though. They refused to accept the Columbasilisk on to the team as they couldn't put up with the smell of dirty raincoats for example........

Well Blood Bowl Fans, it's the climax of another season!

On Sunday night at 8:15 ish the all conquering Saur'd of Justice will be looking for one last victory against The Pinewood Carrions.

The last time these teams met it was 2-0 to the Lizards, who coped better in the unseasonable heat than the dead desert dwellers for some reason. Saur'd of Justice are therefore rightly confident going into the match. The Carrions are on a run of good form though, injuring and killing their way through to the final so this might just be their day.

I'm going to predict another 2-0 victory to the Lizardmen. I will of course though be cheering on the underdog. Surely notj can't do his usual "but I'm the underdog!" speech here after 10 wins out of 10.... :p

But but ;D

All that Strength 5 and Mighty blow! >:D >:D

To be honest I'm far, far, overdue a shocker with the Dice of the sort the Norse seem to be good at. All I need is a couple of turns where I don't get a hold of the ball and it could be really tough...

OOOO I got here first.

CONGRATULATIONS MR COMMISH!!

Bloody tense final, one for the ages, and indeed the victors actually doing a 'pass'... well, twatting the ball off a tomb guardians head.

Still, what a game, unlucky NJ - the double still remains a Holy Grail for the future!!

ROLL ON SEASON 6!!!!

Wow!

The game opened with the Lizards receiving and bringing the ball to the middle of the pitch. The Khemri brought a wizard to the party and called in his help at this early stage. The ball scattered and the Khemri were able to gather it up. A long slog up the pitch saw the Carrions taking the lead just before half time. With seconds left on the clock the kick-off went to Saur'd of Justice who Skink-balled it to their super speedy skink who failed to make the catch. at half time it was 1-0 and the Carrions were due to receive, things were going better than could be expected.

In the second half we received following a riot which moved the clock on a turn. This was all suiting me, all I had to do was hold onto the ball. I failed to hold onto the ball, the skinks skinked and scored. 1-1 with extra time looming.

I received again and caged up on my right. The lizards moved across and I diverted to the middle. A weaker than ideal cage was broken open and the ball went loose yet again. At this point nj had the players and the position. There were two turns where all he needed was a skink to pick up the ball and walk it home to win. Twice they failed.

I was able to pick up with a Blitz-Ra who was exposed. I threw the ball at a Tomb Guardian over by the sidelines. It bounced off his head but was at least in a tacklezone. I was able to KO the last Skinks on the pitch leaving nj with Ag 1 players to try and play with. I was able to pick up again and moved off up the pitch. nj had some unlucky turns, double skulling on a 2D block on the ball carrier for one example. In the end I was able to get the ball up to the endzone with all of the lizards out of range.

Of course, then we had to kick off again luckily I'd KOd most of the Justice team and only one came back. The one turn score was threatened but faile thank Nuffle.

A great 24 turn masterpiece of a final which really could (and arguably should) have gone the other way. Thanks to nj for being a gracious opponent and thanks to everyone watching for the commentary.

After three seasons, the Carrions are marching back into the desert with some silverware. But you never know, they may be back...

Yeah - I could see I was probably due a game like that at some point big time, as to be honest, the lack of AG4 and Sure hands hasn't caught me out at any time with the Lizards until yesterday.

That really proved the difference I think in overtime. when Rav. needed to pickup the ball to get it to a much better position (and score) he managed it, when I needed to I failed, the skinks got took out as a direct result of me putting all my eggs in the basket of scoring then too, as I consciously exposed them to get there.

Rav. played very well though throughout and deserved his victory fully (and it was a fun game)
The pass at the tomb guardian was a good idea, and there was an awful lot of effectively worked out block moves for example.

P.S.
As I have said this pretty much makes it the end of the Lizards, (I notice my interest in teams tends to decrease as their TV gets higher - spending half the game hovering over each player so I can see what skills they have bores me a little I think). they've had a good run, but they will never surpass their Perfect league season so I'm happy to see them go.
May bring them back for one off games from time to time, but I dunno

Congrats both on another great final and to the victor the spoils! For the 2nd year running a league & cup double is foiled at the last step with a 2-1 victory.

id3 - Then you haven't watched the ogres enough :p

notj - I would love to see the lizards back in a more challenging league for them (maybe we play a season where people are encouraged to bring back high TV teams?). They benefited this season from a) good dice (it happens) and b) an opposition lacking in the Tackle skill - which from the sounds of it made quite a difference in the final, Rav has done well to give some (3?) of his players that skill. To a lesser extent, the Block skill too was missing which helps to take out skinks (ogre, goblins, elves...)
