Ha excellent! You want to join us for season 2 then? I'm sure there's plenty of us who can show you the ropes.

It's worth noting that Games Workshop no longer hold a copy of the rules. You can currently get a copy from the NAF - http://www.thenaf.net/blood-bowl/rules/ or go to Talk Fantasy Football where you can find links to the "Icepelt Rulebook" which has all the fun stuff in it (which was removed because of Drama).

Good Lord yes. I did post on here about it back in the day, I'll see if I can find it.

Edit: Found it!

*SNIP*
Many years later I read about the Blood Bowl video game and picked it up for a nostalgia burst as much as anything else. I found the rules had changed and went off in search of advice. I found the help I was after but came across the history of those years too, particularly GWs shabby treatment of BB and the other specialist games.

BB was poorly treated by GW but was supported by the community. They had a rules committee who worked with GW to update the rules (and by that I mean, update the rules, write the new rulebook, add new fluff and artwork and then give the result to GW for no money) and the minis were being produced but GW didn't promote the game at all. Then GW decided to shut down all fan sites using their trademarks, kill off the rules committee and butcher their last bit of work (to avoid having to credit anyone) and generally do their best to alienate the community. Now even the minis are out of print with no sign of recasts.

On the subject of Games Workshop's legal barrage in "defence" of it's IP Tom Anders (the man who compiled the rulebook and was a high profile fan / rulemaker and currently runs Impact Miniatures) has posted the gist of the C&D letters he received.

They are long and dry ... but I have no issues putting on the record what the 3 C&D letters I received said as I think folks are always surprised to hear that Impact! was not on the list (nor BB.net).

The 1st said: I had to remove my post requesting companies not create star players for the ones that did not have official GW figures posted on TFF. As punishment for posting that I was banned from life from the BBRC and for ever helping Cyanide or GW again with any project (which didn't hold as I was asked back to work on Khorne soon after ... so much for the legal rage (which is another reason I think NAF should host Icepelt ... the woman who sent me these 3 C&D letters is gone from GW and I don't think her brand of legalese is their ticket anymore (especially after the Chapter House lawsuit))).

The 2nd said: I had to remove 5 specific images from BB.net that they objected to as I had used 5 stock images from the GW site for individual figures that I could not find that anyone has painted and photographed.

The 3rd said: I had to rename the blood-bowl.net website as they said the name was protected and that I had to remove from blood-bowl.net all my documents regarding Blood Bowl rules from any GW source. Specially list was all the Citadel Journal articles I had posted on my site as an archive for players. Then in normal legal fishing net wording ... they included in the fishing net that anything related to BB rules from a GW source should be removed from the site. So because of the fishing net ... I pulled down LRB 6.0 but it was never specifically mentioned in any of the C&Ds.

This league is looking distincly vitalist... Where are the undead? Why must we discriminate so much? Is there some nefarious power at work?

I will choose a more bonkers race next time Rav, I promise!

Thanks for the history Rav. I think GW get away with treating their staff so poorly simply by having high prices. By the way my mum has found the boxes of miniatures, is anyone interested in them for a small fee - mostly Brettonians, with a suspect a handful of Skaven.

Re: fixtures - as I have said, my attendance/timing will get iffy once my wife gets close to her big treatment, so if, early doors, my fixtures could be prioritized, that would probably be good for the league, ie if I am one of 3 people who turns up, I should be one of the two playing.

That's 3 games per day and everything done by the middle of June, hopefully.

I'll set up a league in BBManager and reset(?) the RT the Next Generation league in Blood Bowl if Idan doesn't get to it first.

Once I've done the BBManager stuff I'll start a Season 2 thread for standings and all that kind of stuff.

Oh when is the deadline? Edit: this Friday apparently.

I've been having a mess around against the AI trying to work out which team to play. I also have two friends who might be interested in joining, shall I give them a shout?

If they can be relied upon to turn up on >=50% Sunday evenings then I don't see why not.

THe more the merrier.

I'm unlikely to do much over Easter so feel free to get something ready by tuesday.

If we get more folks I'll split into 2 divisions with a playoff at the end.

I asked a couple of guys at work if they wanted to join in. One was a bit keener but doesn't have the game, the other wasn't so keen but has the game (go figure)

I'm on holiday next week, so will find out if they are more interested when I return a week on monday :-)

It looks like we have one more:
Hi,

I should have said when I posted but I was waiting for Nathan to say if he was Identity or Nathan on these forums - he sent me the link and told me about your BB league.

I think I'd quite like to play if you'd let me - apart from interruptions from waking or ill children I should be able to make many (most?) of the next couple of months of Sunday evenings, and having just quickly tried Dark Elves against the PC and realised I can't remember how to play them I would quite like to play as Skaven.
I can't remember what the deal is with inviting people out of the guest forums, but would be it possible to give la access to Blood Bowl at least? He's a great guy, whom I game with fairly regularly. He also has an addiction to Dwarf Fortress!

I'll fill you in on my team choice over the weekend. There is some burning ball in the sky here in Glasgow so I'm going to see what the fuss is about whilst it's still here.

Hello!

Thank you for the forum access, and thank you Nathan.

I would like to express my interest on behalf of my Skaven team who will be called The OverCheesers.

I can commit to >50% of Sunday evenings with a bit of wife-bargaining. Occasionally have to dash up the stairs for waking small children even on designated gaming evenings though if she's fallen asleep early.

Hello and welcome :)

Don't worry about having to deal with small kids, about half the league have small kids so we will be understanding :) We place emphasis on fair play over being super-competitive, so for example in my last game Raveen pressed pause repeatedly (you can only pause it for 30 seconds in one go) whilst I did the bedtime story.
