Re: Rolling Thunder BBL Season 7
Well, there we go then. NJ is no longer Nuffle's favourite son (probably because he's plying Elves) and La is.
Anyway, I've updated the match report of Rat Death.

Right, the schedule should be sorted now.
I geeked out a bit, and now I want to show off. I wrote a simple round-robin tournament generating algorithm that can handle a list of n teams (for future use) and generated a us a new schedule. Then realised it was going to be a complete pain to sort out the rest of the matches based on what we've already played. So I found a list permutating algorithm online and fed it our list of teams. It reckoned there are 3,628,800 permutations on the order of our teams in that list. I then ran each of those permutations through my scheduling algorithm until the first week matched our first week. I'm glad I didn't try and do it by hand because it wasn't until permutation 3,578,874 that it found the right schedule. Plus it only took me 30 minutes to get going and 20 seconds to actually run the complete script.

Oooh well played id. I've often toyed with the idea of creating an algorithm to work out the fixtures, kudos for actually doing it. Now onto the sport.
Sloppiness and hilarity in equal measure in this season opener...

Due to Raveen's friend being rubbish, and a mysterious claim of unwellness from the new commissioner (I blame bribes given by some of the less-reputable teams of our league) a late-arranged fixture between the returning Wood Elves and the cast of the Archers was played.
Pre-match, the ref got bored of waiting for Raveen to pick his 124456134914321 worth of inducements so he had to get by with **just** Deeproot, a stabby ST4 elf, a halfing master chef, a bribe and a wizard. He would probably have had Morg as well if he had left a slot in his team. We had rainy weather though it became nice weather after the first TD.
Very common themes throughout the match included elf passes (6 successful, 2 unsuccessful), attempts to injure/kill Alan (who had to roll for his armour 9 times!) and attempts to throw team-mates (3). So just assume those things are happening all the time and I will attempt to cover other notable events... (turn numbers are approximate)
Turn 1: Rav receives and upon realising he had forgot to buy any re-rolls, promptly steals all mine. He does some stuff, I respond by causing a turnover on my first action.
Turn 3: A Wardancer is on the floor and gets fouled - and is killed!!! The Apothecary turned it into a miss next match, which was pleasing but left me sweating about injuries later on.
Turn 4-5: Much treeman warfare had gone on thus far along with failed attempts to stand up. The halflings had bumbled the ball forwards somewhat and had a cage of sorts, but the Wanderers, having composed themselves after some earlier mishaps, just wandered through it and got the ball loose. They failed to pick it up but managed to secure ball in the subsequent turn and ran in for the score.
Turn 6-8: The elves were clearly concentrating more after this kick-off and quickly secured the ball. They felt sorry for their poor persecuted team-mate Alan so engineered a touchdown & a level-up for him - all he had to do was catch it on turn 8... and he failed! 1-0 half-time score.
Turn 9-10: The elves received, danced around and threw the ball to each other for a bit. Then they scored. 2-0.
Turn 11-14: Truly now was the time of the Treemen! The rolls these guys were managing on both sides were terrible. Especially at fault was the legendary Deeproot, who clearly didn't have deep roots. Despite having block he still managed to be the cause a turnover or two! Another treeman just lay on the floor for 3 or 4 turns. Meanwhile the halflings picked the ball up, handed it off to another who failed to catch, it bounced off the head of the halfing in front of him and then under the legs of the treeman after him to lie invitingly for an elf to try and pick up. I made a complete hash of it, but thankfully the halflings spilled it again. An elf walked into a tackle zone, picked the ball up, walked out again then threw it over a treeman's head (no mean feat, those guys are TALL) to a lurking line-elf who scored. 3-0.
Turn 15: The halflings receive and mark the ball with 4 halflings. Then a lightening bolt is thrown at Alan and succeeded where 8 other stab/foul/block attempts had failed and got him off the pitch (KO'ed).
Turn 16 Wanderers: Turn started with a treeman trying to hit someone. He fails. Turnover.
Turn 16 Archers: Turn started with a treeman trying to hit someone. He fails. Turnover.
THE END!
I don't think either of us played our best in this game, what with a fresh team for Raveen and me being a bit out of practice for the Wood Elves. This lack of polish did make for a highly entertaining encounter though, I was laughing my way through an awful lot of it. I was actually getting a bit nervous come turn 4-5 and the halflings still had the ball, but the initial TD calmed the nerves and I could enjoy watching treemen falling over in the second half and the stabby dark elf shaking hands with my players (honestly, that's what the animation looks like when the stab fails). Also, collecting SPP was fun.
Dice : D6 was very even, both around 0. We both felt I wasn't getting much luck in the first half but no complaints about the second whereas Rav's luck was more constant. 2D6 I had slightly the better of in terms of armour, but we both had bad injury rolls causing one injury each, when the expected amount was around 2.2-2.5 each. Alan had to make 9 armour rolls this game!!! The block dice were pretty awful for us both as previously documented. Deeproot (who has block) rolled 22 block dice of which 8 were red skulls!! What a plonker. As for me, with two block skills off the pitch in the first few turns, a halfling team scared of confrontation and the bad block dice I wasn't able to rack up the injuries I had been hoping for, given the cup

I killed a wardancer!
And Zara's an Amazon Blitzer and also the Slayer
I was heartened by the first half and if I wasn't playing 400k down might have got a bit further towards goal

Re: Rolling Thunder BBL Season 7
The Underworld rolled 5/28 2 Dice block rolls in this way, which is significantly lower, around 18%
Yes it's lower but not in a significant way - it's only 2 dice rolls below average. The chances of getting 5 or fewer failures out of 28 is about 14%. So not high but not tiny either. For comparison the chance of getting exactly 6/28 is 16.4%, and 7/28 is 17.1%. So 5 or less, 6 or 7 are all similar chances. If it was 4/28 then the odds on that are around 1% so would be statistically significant.
Upon checking the actual match report, I count either 8/28 or 9/28, I keep getting a different number each time I count. I'm not sure how you got to 5.
It was the good success on the 4 1d blocks they did that pushed the undercheesers almost - but not quite - to the expected block success value, which they fell just short of, see statistics post.
Re: Rolling Thunder BBL Season 7
On BBM, Dark Elves - Undercheesers has not been uploaded to the RT league, only the RT Season 7 one. Can one of you two upload it there too please?

Re: Rolling Thunder BBL Season 7
I could - I just replayed the game - but BBM won't start, I keep getting an error message... Sorry.
I might try again or reinstall BBM later tonight if I get the chance and remember.

Re: Rolling Thunder BBL Season 7
Rav - you can't make Sunday. When could you rearrange for?
Re: Rolling Thunder BBL Season 7
Realistically, I don't know yet. Hopefully next Sunday will have things selling down.
Re: Rolling Thunder BBL Season 7
Right, apologies all but Matjeffes had decided not to take part in the league add stuff keeps coming up on a Sunday. He's going to play pick up games on weeks he can make if that's OK. If we can get him hooked there's always season 8.
On other news, we're still not in hospital and if that continues then I should be able to play tonight. It's still very unlikely but possible.
