Way I see it, if someone wants to keep beating on a team the way Gandalf was getting beaten and they won't let the loser withdraw honourably because the game's no fun anymore, that someone is a bully and a dick and aren't RT material anyway.

Thanks guys. I'll start a house rule thread sometime soon. Part of me thinks that you should have to be at least 2 behind to do this, but then part of me thinks that because of the sort of people we are in RT, that no-one would abuse this rule anyway. Plus there may be other situations meaning a game needs to end early - eg something needs attending to in RL.

As well as it not being any fun, it was also me wanting to make sure I had enough players available for my next match. Stopping when we did meant I had my "full" 13 available (though one lineman has ST 2 and another AG 2). I don't know if this makes my decision "gamesmanship" or not. It wasn't meant like that - just that I didn't want a repeat experience of playing with insufficient numbers.

Can I suggest that the resign can only come after a touchdown or halftime. Unless it's a RL thing in which case the winner should be allowed to score as quickly as possible.

Yeah, if Gandalf had wanted to resign that way when the scores were tied I'd expect him to let me run in a touchdown to reflect that he'd effectively agreed to lose the match.  In return I'd agree not to crump any players on my way to the score line.
