Pre Game
I (against my better judgement) decide to buy a second goblin so I have 10 in my lineup, and so get in a single merc lineman.

Inducements
I got 130k inducements so Got an Extra Merc lineman, with Tackle - intending to sit him next to Gutter runners all game.

Orcs win the toss and elect to receive.

First half
- Orcs run Players into the oppositions half and try some hitting, which is pretty much entirely unsuccessful. The orcs block dice are poor in the first 2 turns which burns through rerolls fast. But they retrieve the ball and move into the middle of the park.
- Hitting ensues with no real effect, except the orcs KO a rat
- the orcs try to run, handoff to the players in the Rat half and GFI score, but the handoff fails, and the reroll is already used.
- The rats retrieve the ball, and fighting happens around the ball. The Orcs block game is coming in now, and they injure another rat, and then kill one, but the Apothecary performs a miracle and turns it into a badly hurt. The ball is tackled and scatters free.
- The rats retrieve the ball again and try a pass into a safer position in the middle of the park, but it's sensationally intercepted by a Black Orc!
- This time the orcs make no mistake and drive, and run in to score on turn 5! (I would have stalled a bit, but Abom had too many players near the ball)
1-0 to the orcs, but the rats have 4 turns to score back in the first half.
- The rats receive and run down the sideline, The orcs try to mount a defence, but the rats storm through for the classic two turn touchdown.
1-1 at end of turn 6!
- Orcs receive again, hit a bit, run some players into the opponents half, and try and throw the goblin which fails at the handoff to the goblin stage.
- The rats try to surround the ball, and put a blocker between the path to the orcs in their half, but the orc and trolls break a path for a blitzer to pickup the ball, run it to the other blitzer, hand it off so he could run to score (this was pretty lucky 3+ pickup 3+ handoff and two GFIs involved with no rerolls left)
2-1 to Orcs at end of an action packed first Half!
Second Half
- 10 Skaven face 11 Orcsball
- Skaven receive but this time their runners get bogged down too much with defenders and the Tackle enabled lineman in the way.
- skaven try a pass deep in their half which fails (I think Abom was trying to switch play to other wing)
- Orcs block through and pressure the ball. The rats manage to pick it up, but the gutter runner holding the ball is pushed right against the sideline by an orc and a goblin, with orcs all around.
- The star runner makes 5 consecutive dodges through tackle zones to get the ball free, without even using a dodge reroll. The star moment effect is spoiled somewhat when he fails the handoff (even when rerolled)
- The Skaven are thinning out now, so the ORcs can Drive through to score with 2 turns left, causing a injury or two more along the way!
3-1 to the Orcs!
- Not much of note happens in the end bit.

Notes
A fun and open game where the momentum constantly swung. A couple of lucky moments turned the game to the orcs in the first half (The interception especially), and the Skaven Ball handling fell apart somewhat in the second

Dice Notes
Orcs had slightly above average D6 luck (1.86 versus -0.63 to the Rats), and average Block dice (if anything the skaven had slightly the superior block dice), the big difference was on the 2D6 - The Skaven broke armour just once in 11 attempts (which did injure a goblin) whilst the orcs did an awful lot of knocking down and injuring (But just below the "Par" amount of breaking armour according to BBM)

Post game
The orcs rolled a 1 for their winnings which left them 20k. They rerolled it and got.......20k, nothing to afford there.
Two Blitzers levelled up though!

Tuesday is fine, thanks Gandalf. I couldn't manage an extra 90 minutes of proper concentration so I obliterated the campaign in DoW instead.

Didn't you get a fourth player back by the second turn off the loose ball kerfuffle? I'm sure it was 2 vs 4 at one point.

The big question is could you score in the time you had left? I'd like to think no as both your quick players were at the back so you couldn't pass to them to accelerate down the pitch. That would have left me a half to try and score in. That was the plan at least :)

Amazon vs. Khorne, Act 2
The first half had not gone brilliantly for the Club. Having won the toss, they chose to kick with the hopes of forcing a quick touch down and then grinding out an equalizer by half time. The game plan worked, just! The equalizer was scored as a result of an unfortunate double attack down for Red Lion.

Red Lion kicked, placing the ball just over the line of scrimmage on my left flank. With my second half game plan consisting of a conservative drive to score late in the game this was Not Good. There was also a riot which cause the referee to lose track of the time and he skipped the game on a few turns. So Shiny Demon tore up the game plan in a Wild Animal rage, and thus commenced the shocking display of under-nines football (little league soccer, Abom) as every player on the pitch ran towards the ball with the hopes of getting a touch.

There was a massive scrum, in which both teams managed to clear good space around the ball but were unable to pick it up. In a desperate attempt to get the ball moving, the Demons started pushing Amazon players onto the ball but it all went wrong and the ball popped out the back of the scrum in turn 14, with the ladies best placed to make the most of it.

One of The Brave Harts managed to get their hands on the ball and dashed away across the pitch. A Demons chased after her, but before Amy Whinehouse could get in a good defensive position, someone fell over or something and it looked like it was all over for the Khorne. The Amazons had two turns to get the ball carrier free and score, but something didn't quite go right. The Khorne moved one player into a better defensive position and ended their turn. The Amazons just had to dodge away and pass to score, but I think they failed the dodge.

All in all it was a good fun game, with a lot of silly stuff in it. The Khorne didn't managed to pick up the ball in the second half, but did push it around a lot. The dice say both teams did really well on the 2D6, both with a chance of 25 which explains all the amour breaks. The D6 were even for The Harts (1), but The Club "got robbed" with a -21 (which explains why they couldn't pick up the ball). Of the 105 block dice rolled by the demons, 49 were pushes and 21 were defender stumbles, causing at least 70 pushes (not taking into account the couple of uses of Juggernaught by Shiny Demon). All in all I feel pretty lucky to have gotten away with a draw in the end, well played Red Lion.

OK, see you normal time tomorrow then.

Didn't you get a fourth player back by the second turn off the loose ball kerfuffle? I'm sure it was 2 vs 4 at one point.

Don't know... all I remember was that I had 2 pestigors and my AG4 rotter, you had 2 bull centaurs and (eventually) a hobgoblin, and that I was very grateful for block, dodge, horns and AG4 to fight those brutes of yours.

The big question is could you score in the time you had left? I'd like to think no as both your quick players were at the back so you couldn't pass to them to accelerate down the pitch. That would have left me a half to try and score in. That was the plan at least :)

I think that was the most likely outcome yes. Would've been fun trying. I seem to end halves running out of time and trying desperate things to score, so still being in my own half after 4 or 5 turns wasn't boding well.

Nurgle vs. Chaos Dwarves Part 2 - The Two Bull Centaurs

So! The rearranged match kicks off with a wayward kick from the Nurgle boys landing in their own half, and the Chaos Dwarves picking up an extra re-roll. Looks like luck is on their side, but frankly that was the high point in that regard.

A bull centaur tries to blitz his way down a flank, but is foiled twice by Foul Appearance, backs off and cages up. The slow-moving Nurgle respond by sort-of covering the cage and getting a player next to the ball and sending The Beast to go hug the other bull centaur. The Dwarves respond by their ball carrier dodging clear and getting free in the Nurgle backfield (one of the few blocks ended in a double skull). I blitz him down with a couple of players who were lurking there, Trudy Lies picked up the loose ball and threw it to a pestigor just inside the other half, but it was an inaccurate pass and the ball was loose. A melee happened near the ball and it bounced to the touchline, and when a hobgoblin tried to pick it up it went out and was thrown back in 2 squares from the Chaos Dwarf touchdown line! A full 9-10 squares from any other player! My pestigors picked a path towards the ball as Rav cursed having just used his last re-roll to get Bull Centaur #2 free from the beast to move him into my backfield. With most of the team mired in a midfield brawl, a dwarf and a hobgoblin tried to stop the pestigors, and the pestigors even tried to stop themselves with some bad block dice, but eventually one of them picked up the ball and walked over the line in turn 7.

The game responded to this outrage by crashing out with network issues again.

----------------------------------------

Due to a miscommunication Gandalf got 2 x MVP and 140k SPP, which upon realising the scenario, I re-rolled into 90k. Basically I clicked "OK" like I did on Sunday, that time it record no result, this time it gave me the walkover?! (I should've Alt + F4'ed out but assumed OK was fine as it was fine on Sunday)

As there were no injuries (indeed there was all of 1 armour break all game, and the dwarf pushed off the pitch was merely stunned), and the TD was scored in turn 7, it was agreed that the (hopefully?) final part of the trilogy will happen on Thursday with the following rules...
- Nurgle to receive
- Second half to be clicked through to its end
- The submission to BBM to be altered to award +1 TD to Nurgle
- As far as I care Rav can pick a different inducement, as a) he didn't use his bribe this game, and b) I have 2 more skilled up rotters now.

It's Week 7 in the RTBBL and the action is hotting up. Announcements are coming early as Commissioner Raveen is off to the Isle of Blight in an attempt to win the favour of Nurgle following an epic 3 day and counting match between the Rock-Knockers and It's A Sign.

Beauty and the beasts, it's: The Brave Harts vs Gojira's Army
Contamination and convicts, it's: It's A Sign vs The Isa Black Stars
Rats and rage, it's: The 13th Doomwheel vs Club 27

Nurgle vs. Chaos Dwarves Part 3 - The Return Of The Beast

Finally... it is finished. 1-0 overall to the Nurgle - this image is only of the half we played today which finished 0-0.

Image

Nurgle received as was previously agreed, and left their recently promoted players on the bench so as to best simulate how the game would've gone.

After one or two blocks there was a blitz from the Beast.... who failed a GFI and Loner. He was instantly surrounded by a load of hobgoblins who fouled him, but rolling a 2+1 meant it was to no avail. The Beast stood up and that was basically all the hobgoblins managed all drive, due to tentacles and failed dodges, given these were all the AG3 players Raveen had this made picking up the ball difficult...

Speaking of which... I picked the ball up in the backfield on turn 2, and did a quick pass to the pestigor, who failed the catch. A Bull centaur swept in and picked up the ball, but he was very isolated and got knocked over. The Pestigor then managed to pick the loose ball up, ran upfield, and KO'ed himself trying to get himself into a half-decent position. A couple of Nurgle Warriors guarded the ball but the CDworfs managed to push the ball off the field. Was this deja-vu from an earlier episode? Where would the ball land? It ultimately landed in my half not too far from the centre of the pitch, in an empty few squares with players from both our teams around it. First a Dworf tried & failed to pick it up, then he got pushed out of the way and the Nurgles formed a scrum with the ball. However the bull centaurs were having none of this and got the ball loose again. With 1 turn left each I marked the ball with 2 players. The Dwarves could still score if they pulled off a huge amount of dice rolls - but failed the first one. The half finished 0-0, making it 1-0 to the Nurgle on aggregate.

Post game : My MVP went on my to-be-fired rotter, and Rav got 80k, so Nuffle undid some of the injustice of the previous episode of the game.

Dice : The general ineptitude of our players was shown up nicely by the D5, we were -11 and -13 (we burned through our re-rolls pretty fast). I say D5 as we rolled no 5's all game... I didn't even roll any 3's. 2D6 we were both slightly lucky but I think in the earlier games we both rolled pretty appalling 2D6's. A rotter got injured and will be retired - but he will be replaced by a Hobgoblin/rotter who got killed by No Entry (the beast) near the end of the game. Block dice were in Rav's favour (70%+ success rate!) but didn't seem to have a drastic effect on proceedings.

Ultimately it was part II of our game that decided things, especially that thrown-in ball that landed deep in the dwarf backfield. Foul Appearance helped me a lot too, though I think it's also going to make sure I fail to qualify for the cup this time. I'm way clear at the bottom of the charts (though that excludes episode II of this encounter, I can replay that & add the numbers if I get close to the next non-Raveen team above me, but I'm so far behind at the moment that it doesn't seem worth the effort).
