Oh yeah, actually I think la and I have had that discussion already. Apparently Lou Reed has even been taking it out on David Bowie. Perhaps that explains Bowie's mysterious loss of skills...

As far as I can tell it'll be

The Hambridge Archers vs The Brave Harts

A Fistful of Boomstick vs Bad For Thy Elf

(BTW, can we have these posts back every week please ID? Just saves me having to look at the spreadsheet and focusses everyone's mind.)

You could always play a friendly of course.

I'd love to play a friendly with the vampires :)

For no particular reason. But then I think it'd be best to have an early night.

Gerty also made level 5; in (Gandalf will probably want to check this) a record 3 or 4 games I think.

You mean this player who has played 25 games? He's the 9th player to make it to level 5. 4 of them are Wood Elves, 2 of them are Vampires, we need a bit more ethnic diversity up there :)

Also happening this weekend (probably) : a friendly between Team Shrek are playing Abom's Hilarious Goblins And Their Many Bribes. Though if Abom and Moose haven't finished their game beforehand, that should take precedence, as should all Moose-related ventures.

OH I know there's other Level 5 players dude; just that Gerty went from Level 4 to Level 5 in only 4 games I think; I meant the quickest a player has gone from Level 4 to Level 5; not the quickest a player has gone from Level 1 to Level 5; that'll be a (cheating) scoring Elf no doubt; or a cheating Vampire.

I hope PilrOrc's ankle holds out for him to make Level 5.

It's not 4 games... he's scored 17 SPP in his last 4 games, and you need 20, so it's at least 5. Fastest to level 5 is possibly this elf who has done it in 16.

Anyway I can't work out this as we don't have complete game history for everyone :) Speaking of which, action your PM already :)

Hey guys, I'm driving back right now with my friend but it's very unlikely I'll make it back in time for a friendly. Enjoy the games! :D

In a change to the scheduled friendly matchup, Nurgle played Idanmel's Elf team!

Image

I took a Wizard and the weather was Very Sunny (-1 to pass rolls).

Nurgle received the ball and gathered. They blocked away with ruthless efficiency and lucky dice, making a hole in the enemy lines. Meanwhile No Entry held 4 Elves in place and they just couldn't get away! 4 Tentacle rolls failed, 1 or 2 blocks ended up with pushes (I gave him Stand Firm last game :D) but eventually he went down. By that point a Pestigor was on the brink of scoring - but he fell over dodging for the score! This gave the remaining elves a glimmer of a chance, but a turn or 2 later there was a gap, I just needed a 3+ pickup to score, which I did.

There were 2 or 3 turns left of the half - could the elves get a TD back? No, the Nurgle's defence was too good/lucky, and we went in 1-0 to the Nurgle.

Second half started, I think the elves were down to 9 or 10 at this point. They received and managed to optimise their play a bit as compared with the previous drive. Their dice improved too - but some critical stuff went wrong. The Nurgles lumbered towards the ball carrier and got it loose - and managed to catch a bouncing ball! However he was then knocked over, and the elves picked it up, threw a long-ish pass to a marked player who was in 2 disturbing presences, who promptly dodged away from them and rolled 2xGFI to score!! Pesky elves.

So! It was 1-1, 11 Nurgle against 7 or 8 elfs now, with 3 turns left. I failed to pick it up the first time which made scoring difficult. I lightening-bolted the ST4 blodging sidestepper (grrr I hate that guy) to make sure Idan couldn't pick the ball up. Our two forces met, and with 2 turns left I knew I would have to make a hand off or pass to score - and get some players in advanced positions. Fortunately I had 2 rotters who had clearly been watching the elves and made 4 dodges between them to give me 2 possible players who could score on the last turn. Come my last turn they were both still on their feet, but marked. I cleared the marker on one of them, handed the ball off to him, all he needed was a 3+ dodge to score... and he did it!!! A dramatic 2-1 victory to the Nurgles!

Dice

Apparently I had worse D6, (-6 to 0) didn't really notice this.
I had average 2D6 whereas Idan's were diabolical. 1 Tentacles success from 6, and breaking my armour twice in 11 attempts.
Block dice are where Nuffle was really on my side though. 10 red skulls, 11 both downs, 17 defender stumbles and 18 defender downs represents excellent luck. The elves were going down left right and centre early on. The rate slowed later on but it was still more than enough. TO get 49% success against an elf team full of block and dodge, when all I had was 3 blocks and 0 tackle skills, was very fortunate.

Other stuff

It was a very fun game for both players, I think we enjoyed anyway. I had quite a few lucky moments, Idan had some exceeedingly unlucky moments which were at least partially made up for by his jammie TD.

The gamble I made by giving a Nurgle Warrior MB as his first skill paid off - he got his 4th casualty in this game (wouldn't have made it without MB) and he becomes my first level 3 Nurgle Warrior.
