Cool, so long as it's in hand and you're not living in some 90s dystopian future it's all good.

Let's add some words to this then shall we?

We tried one game but got as far as turn 3 before RLs internet packed in. Following a protracted restart where I couldn't get steam to launch BB for a while we got going again.

RL had 500+ GP in inducements and got Morg and a Babe. I chose to receive and set up with a plan of going up the left, so my better TGs were on the left side and my weaker two on the right. The Blitz-Ras and Thro-Ras hung back to secure the ball. The ball landed on the side of the pitch on my left flank close to the half way line. Not ideal because a failed pickup could scatter the ball off the pitch and who knows what the consequences of that would be. I moved my Stand Firm TG in front of the ball and a blitz-ra behind it to secure it from the Elves. A Thro-Ra ran in and fumbled the pickup, happily it lay between the guarding players. I had a loose screen protecting the proto cage but the Elves found a way in with Morg bashing holes. I picked up second time and I aimed for the centre. The Elves clogged up the midpitch well so I ran the ball over to the right. The elves responded well again and I diverted back to the middle. All this repositioning had got the Elves out of formation and I was able to hold Morg on one side and bash through the rest. I finally broke free and was able to stall for a turn before scoring on turn 8. I fouled liberally to no effect all half.

After a one turn bash at my front row from the Elves it was half time and I was kicking. The ball went deep and I got a blitz (first one in ages). There wasn't much I could do to secure the ball but I was able to drive my TGs and BRs up to the Elven formation. RL secured the ball and brought it up behind his front line which was in danger of breaking through, Morg doing his thing once again. I got through both flanks and marked the ball carrier on his left. Unfortunately I had to GFI to get a player to his right and failed. The ball carrier dodged out and the elves ran through my line to form up about 8 squares out on my left. Luckily my more mobile players weren't too tied up and I was able to get a 1d block on the ball. I got lucky and the ball scattered free, but I was only able to get 1 TZ on it. Morg decided that enough was enough and played the ball himself, dodging and grabbing it like the star he is. The Khemri ganged up and 4 of them together gave him a swift knee to the nadgers. The Elves were getting injured by this point and the numbers game was making life much easier, except for Morg who just wouldn't stay down. I grabbed the ball and ran it up the pitch and there was nothing the Elves could do. I was even able to get a pass in just by the endzone.

And then the clients disconnected. RL was still on Mumble so it wasn't a total internet failure but the game was over with 2 turns left. Happily BBM was able to upload the stats and gave me a 2-0 win (which is what it would have been). It also registered my pass and catch so nyer to Gandalf and Id3, I now have 4 catches!

RL played pretty well but was 520K down in TV and I think that made the difference. Morg helped but not enough to make it balanced and the Babe never came into play (I only injured people in the first half and there wasn't a restart in the second after KOs started rolling in). The stats say the dice were almost exactly equal and exactly at the mean.

Disconnect aside it was a fun game and RL was by no means a pushover. Come next season he'll be dukeing it out with the best of us.

It'ss all for Id3 to do now as he has only 3 catches to his name whilst Gandalf and I both have 4. The Necromantics have two games left to play so it could come down to final league position after all. May the best man or man-like-thing win!

GGGGGGYEAH!!!!!! Percy is still banished from pitchside due to his 'poor business making decisions' (I.e. His Wife has told him to stop dicking about losing at that silly blood bowl game and get back to selling 'shrooms and topping up Mrs Percy's retirement fund)...

Percy's Wife however is relishing taking charge (suprisingly...) and is well up for playing the pointy ear folk and has put the fear of god into the poor 'shrooms who have a choice of dying for her glory on the pitch or dying for her supper off it.

LEEEEEETS PLLLLLLLLLLLLLLAY BLOODBOWLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!

Ahem. See you all later.

Now the necromantic result is in, I think we shall soon see some elves squished in the middle of the night by Ogre hand...

The Fables and Brewers Brawlers have played over four games worth of turns, but finally managed to complete a game - despite the ref rolling the clock back a turn.

An exciting and violent game was had by all, as the Dwarves managed to draw the Necromantic into a hitting match for most of the first half. Despite kicking and losing both their Werewolves to the violent drunks, the Fairy Godmother managed to run in a touchdown in turn seven.

The second half started with both teams back up to eleven players, thanks to repeated successful regeneration rolls. The Fables received and decided to try a safe pass deep in their own half. The Dwarves surged forward, hitting everything in sight. High on her touchdown in the first half, The Fairy Godmother tried a short pass to Bigby Wolf, enabling him to lope off down the pitch out of range of the Dwarves. The rest of the Fables tried to tie up the Dwarves but they managed to get two player in position to threaten any chance of stalling for time. A mysterious lightening bolt knocked down the only dwarf withing scoring range, so Baba Yaga decided to run for the touch line to receive a hand-off from Bigby making the score two nil.

The Fables rolled a Blitz as they kicked off, so Bigby ran in behind the Dwarves in an attempt to intercept the kick. Luck wasn't on his side however and the ball scatter away from him. The Dwarves picked up the ball and made a solid push down the center of the pitch, getting three potential receivers in place, but a failed GFI meant that Nekbrekerekh was able to Blitz their ball carrier down. The Dwarves managed to recover the ball, passing to one of the receivers who then ran into position to score next turn. Spinx did an excellent job of marking up my defenders, so the only way I could get to the ball carrier was a dodge away from a tackle player and a one dice block, which rolled Attacker Down with no rerolls. Spinx scored the following turn.

The Dwarves rolled another blitz on the kickoff table, and did their violent thing. They killed a mercenary zombie, but he regenerated and walked off the pitch. I can't remember what else happened in this drive, but in the end Bufkin was able to score in what I thought was my last turn. However the ref rolled back the clock and we had a further two turns to play. Spinx ran the ball forward in a promising attack, but both of his turns were ended by failed dodges leaving the final score three nil.

It was a very fun game in the end. We both had the occasional bad dice at crucial moments, but neither of us were really hampered too much. The dice were fairly even, although the Fables were slightly favored by the D6. Block Dice were also reasonable for both, although Spinx did roll a slightly higher than average defender down. Ultimately, a match rating of 19 says it all. I had great fun, and many thanks to Spinx for putting up with my terrible connection issues this leages.

It took two tries to play this as the connection to the game went towards the end of the first half of attempt one; presumably another problem at my end. (Sigh! Gandalf can you teach me about port forwarding please in case that helps?)

First match attempt:

The goblin ball and chain and the chainsaw proved their worth; in short order there was one dead elf (by the end of turn one) and another injured enough to miss the next game. The goblins had received and picked the ball up, moved it in field from their left, ran down the centre and scored. The banishment of the secret weapons and the formidable casualty list meant that the line-up at the restart was... either 7 v7 or 8 v 8, not sure which. RL picked the ball up and... soon the connection went. However, exiting the game from in-game the goblins took enough SPP for some levelling up...

The goblins then very sportingly asked the elves if they wanted to try again so they could injure them properly this time. As we had exited the match the in-game-button way this meant that the TV situation was reversed (the elves having lost players and the goblins gaining SPP) and the elves could now afford an apothecary. The elves avoided the ball and chain as much as possible after the earlier incidents, and the goblins only managed to cause a few injuries all game (the apothecary helped). The first half ended in a stalemate after the ball changed hands a lot midfield, with a fair bit of fumbling. In the second half the elves had a numerical advantage and got away with a lot of dodging, picking up in tackle zones and passing. It was generally regretted that the beautiful game had been reduced to such a standard after such a promising opening to the evening.

The champagne moment of the test has to go to the ogre who threw the goblin after the fleeing elf catcher, missed completely and landed him in the crowd, who celebrated in the only appropriate way by injuring him.

Dice (for Gandalf if no-one else!):

D6 - favoured the SoSS (+8 to ~0)
2D6 - actually favoured the Goblins (who had +18; didn't I mention the injured elves?)

A good game. The ogres inflicted more damage on the elves as they killed two outright, but the goblins ran this close.

So, the 'Plan received, and started smashing elves about left right and centre, the Ball & Chain killed an elf, the chainsaw mangled another, a bomb flew sweetly and floored a couple more; the 'Plan moved the ball about sublimely and the super dooper AG4 gobbo ran it it in to score, 1-0 to the 'Plan, and we'd managed to clear a few elves ready for the next drive and the 2nd half...

oh, then Nuffle woke Percy up from his daydream and this happened.

Image

We shouldn't complain too much, both special weapons levelled up from the make believe game.

But Nuffle wanted to even things out in the 2nd game, and shined nicely on the elves, who played like elves, and picked the ball up in tackle zones and dodged and launched and catched everything while the 'Plan had trouble tying their shoelaces, and the chainsaw chainsaw'ed himself off with a double 1. (-1.9 to +8.1 on the d6 in favour of the elves... we all know what happens if the gobbos dont get the rub of the green... sigh).

The Plan also got pretty shoddy block dice; when they DID manage to knock over an elf they did it good'n'proper, but lots of both downs on a team with no block... well, yeah.

Well done to the rusty letter openers, Percy has a batch of lovely celebratory 'shrooms on the way to you, and he's looking forward to a quiet night seen as the 'I-know-how-to-play-this-silly-game-better-than-you' wife will probably be a littel sheepish this evening...

Wyld, if you're about tonight shall we catch up on our game? My internet has been fine ever since our last game. If it goes down again, I'm going to suggest we don't play when everyone is Glasgow is trying to torrent the latest episode of Game of Thrones. But I'm pretty confident it'll be fine.
