It was close battle for second place. Even if I hadn't conceded a touchdown this match would la still have come second because he has more wins? Or would I because I beat him? Only Nuffle know. Still, I'm pleased to be crawling higher up the league board.
Well that was another exciting match. I hired Nekebrekerekh again, only to have him KO'd in the first block of the game. I chose to kick and I think the ball landed close to the line of scrimmage, so there was instantly a bit of a scrum for possession. Despite the rain, Fables managed to get hands on and made good use of the Werewolf speed to score in turn four.
I kicked again and this time the ball landed more in Wyld's favour, but he was let down by some bad block dice which left the ball carrier exposed. The Fables tried to free up the ball, but were unsuccessful (in part due to a roll of 1 for a lightning bolt) allowing the Chaos to pass it to safety and run off down the left flank. It looked like a touchdown was inevitable as Wyld blitzed and marked up any potential defenders, but he didn't take into account Beast's MV 9. Beast managed to frenzy the ball carrier off the pitch, and after scattering off the pitch a second time the ball was thrown somewhere into the middle of the line of scrimmage. With the Chaos now sightly out of position to defend, Bigby was able to pick up the ball and run off up the pitch but ultimately ran out of time to score again.
The second half opened with the ref rolling the clock forward one turn, so the Fables made a slow attack in an attempt to draw the Apocalypse in. It kind of worked, as a Bigby and the two Ghouls managed to make a half cage on the right sideline. Beast made good use of his extra movement and ran deep into the defenders half. Wyld attacked the ball carrier, but only managed to push him away from the side line. The Fables then cleared the worst of the defending tackle zones to allow the ball carrier to hand off to Beast who then stalled safely by the end zone for a turn. The Fables took a proper bashing in the following turn, and despite the only threatening player failing a GFI - Beast decided to run the ball in rather than watch the rest of the team suffer any more.
The Fables were down a number of positionals by this point, but could still manage 11 players thanks to two new signings: Papa and Mama Bear. The kick was uneventful so the Chaos gathered the ball and made a standard cage on the line of scrimmage. Weary of getting out of position, the Fables played an ultra conservative defense. Wyld ran through two scoring threats, one of which was promptly surfed off the pitch and the second marked up. The Chaos made a risky pass and managed to Blitz the player with Tackle away from the ball carrier, allowing Wyld to score in turn 15.
Well played Wyld and thanks for playing!
Dice: although it didn't feel like it I had -16.57 chance to Wylds 9.70 on D6 and -6.05 to Wylds -1.05 on 2D6. The block dice were fairly even with a slight positive trend for both teams.
