I understand, that's why I'm asking.
I can vouch for this guy.

I don't mind. Friends of friends get a lot of trust from me.

I do believe I'll be providing the comedy, and joining the games with my halflings.

There's a public league called Rolling Thunder, that has 9 people in it with Raveen as the guy in charge. Hopefully you can find & join it.

It hasn't had any play since May 2011 but I don't see why we can't carry on with it.

Halflings are comedy fun>

Launching halflings using your treemen into the opposition half is always worth a giggle.

How many games have been played? Do people join with brand new teams, or do we (and indeed can we) use single player teams with some experience under their belts?

A few games IIRC.

I think you have to join with a new team. Don't think you can pull an SP team in (otherwise my all conquering Orc team with it's goblin star player would come in).

But when you play a bigger team, you can hire star players, mercs, bonus's etc. which balances the game somewhat.

No-one has played more than 3, maybe 4. You need start with a new team.

Mine has played 2. I spent an age naming them all :) If you look at the league you can see what species everyone is so you can then pick a different one if you wish.

I'm free tomorrow night if anyone wants a game. I haven't played it since May 2011 so I'll be easy pickings :p

I could probably play tomorrow night. Can I export my single player halflings and play with them? I have yet to win a match and I've only scored two goals... so I don't think anybody needs to be too afraid of the stunties.

It's not a matter of we are willing to accept, I think the game demands that you pick a new team.

Might be wrong though, it's been some time.

Also, from memory, I had a few network issues getting a game going, think I had to open a port or two.

There's an option to "export" the team. I was thinking maybe that would let me use it for the league.

They are really bad though, and one poor lad died in the last match.

I have ownership of the league but I think I made some others (Wyld?) admins too.

I'd suggest we do a very quick few games warm up and then a proper league thingy. Or just have an open league but it's better IMO to have a fixed schedule to stop people losing interest (like we did last time :) ).

I'd also suggest that the more experienced players (me for sure, maybe Gandy and Wyld and anyone else) go for tier 2 or 3 teams, just because it makes things a bit more even. I'd happily pick Ogres just for a laugh, and having lots of big hitty geezers on the pitch. A bit like Millwall really.

Having some sort of fixed schedule might be better in some ways.

For those interested the tier system is described at the bottom of this page

http://bbowl.wikia.com/wiki/Current_Blood_Bowl_Teams

One thing to note is the teams aren't balanced  - Halflings and goblins and the like will probably lose a lot, even with experienced players, that's why they are often referred to as Tier 3.

I was tempted to try Vampires, but after playing SP with them last night I'm wondering if they are too damn mercurial (1/6 chance of effectively/potentially losing a player every turn for each vampire is quite the handicap, even though the vampires on your team are pretty awesome)

Now tempted to try skaven or something for a change of pace.

Also of interest here's a list of teams not recommended for "beginners"
http://bbowl.wikia.com/wiki/Advanced_Teams

I'm not sure I agree with that list.

Tier 3 is:
Goblins
Halflings
Ogres

Tier 2 is:
Khemri
Vampires
Chaos Pact*
Underworld*

Tier 1 is most of the rest

Tier 0 (the somewhat broken ones) is:
Wood Elves
Chaos
Dwarves
Orcs

Various arguments rage about some teams, Humans for example are considered borderline Tier 2.

Either way I'm up for some Snots'n'Blocks, in fact I think I have my new team name right there! I'll get installing on the wife's laptop tonight just to be sure I can play :)

*These teams aren't in the game for various reasons.

Oh and don't worry about Tier 0, none of us are good enough for it to make much difference. I suspect I could beat a newbie with Woodies with most teams even though they're awesome in the hands of a skilled coach.

The most success I've had is getting a 1 vs. 1 draw against the lizardmen just now. Halflings vs. Skinks is almost a fair fight  :D
