In other news, Congrats Dalf for winning on Easy Mode ;)

Deeproot Strongbranch returns to steady the Archers' against the toughest team in the league.

The Ducklingz opted to kick so I set up a spread of trees at the front and halflings behind. I was too far forward really but I figured I could go back to collect a deep ball against the slow slow Orcs. The ball did indeed go deep but it was easily collected and lobbed to Zara the Slayer who is alive and well and, incidentally, has engaged Valthurg and Zorbag to sue Fables! because their cheap impersonator is soiling her good name. At the front the Trees did some blocks and knocked over Gertrude the St5 Blodging Black Orc. Obviously I had to stick the boot in and fouled with reckless abandon getting the poor love knocked out before taking a step.

I decided that the attrition game was not going to work in my favour so I ran Zara up to a 'Fling, handed off the ball and hefted ball and carrier into the sky. She landed at the feet of a blitzer unconscious and the ball scattered free. There followed a classic Orc drive, aided and abetted by my Trees rooting themselves in place and getting stranded from the action. Deeproot lashed out at everything he could and took out Ibrahimavorc and I think a lineman later on.

Despite many lobbed 'Flings the orcs scored in turn 8. 1-0 to the Ducklingz

In the second half I kicked and the ball got collected by a limping Pirlorc. The Orkly Caglingz were put off when Jill Archer and Deeproot both barged their way into the cage and demanded either the ball or a nice cup of tea. The Orcs tried to switch play across to the other flank but Zara got her blitzing boots on and repeatedly bashed the ball carriers. Eventually a brave halfling dodged in and around the orcs, grabbed the ball and hightailed it away. I stalled for a couple of turns whilst daft things happened like Jill Archer proving here extra move was a good idea by repeatedly falling over and standing up.

Eventually an orc got within range of the ball and I decided to score leaving the Orcs 1 turn to score. 1-1

Naturally the orcs didn't bother trying. I had set my halflings way back to avoid injury which turned out to be a mistake as the ball ended up in a grabbable position when Pirlorc knocked himself down blocking a Tree.

Final Score 1-1

Lots of fun even if my wizard was no use at all. Daigoro played a solid game which is exactly the way to treat orcs. I played a daft game which is the way to play Halflings. I was a wee bit aggrieved in the first half but it was more than made up in the second with some ridiculous dodging and blitzing from the Halflings and Zara.

Judging by the graph on BBDB, the fact that ties are resolved by highest league position, and that Fables! got 3+ injuries in their game (which hasn't been submitted to BBDB yet).... suggest that you'll be playing me.

Clearly this is why Alan & Fierwen got injured in the last game :p I'll hire a couple of nobodies to play in their place and get hit.

When is the cup starting? Next week there is an allegiance game a few of us will be at, so I'd suggest it's either 20th Dec, 27th Dec (people busy with Christmas stuff?) or wait until after Christmas (3rd/10th Jan).

Wood Elfs canter to an easy victory without breaking the slightest sweat, and win the league.

Congratulations gandalf Good luck in the cup!

Pre match - notj hires Morg, a stabby star player and some mercenary stabby players.

The woodies kick off and get a blitz. The darkies flub the whole pick up the ball and pass it idea resulting in a turn 1 touchdown for the woodies.

Next kick-off the darkies cage up but reckon without the movement 9 wardancer. He gets a 1D block and knocks the carrier over... and then picks it up. Because he has so many skills the darks can't get the ball back, leading to a somewhat ludicrous scoreline of 2-0 after 3 turns.

The stabbing however was going quite well from a dark elf point of view. In the first 5 or 6 turns, Alan got injured and lost ANOTHER point of armour(!!!), and my +AG lineman lost a point of movement... bit too useful to fire and I wanted to save the apothecary for use on my real star players (however I sustained no more injuries in the rest of the game). All this stabbing and poking led to at one point there being only 4 wood elves standing. Coupled with some bad wood elf dice the darks walked in a touchdown later in the first half. So it was either 2-1 or 3-1 at half time (I have no recollection of when my 3rd TD was).

The last 5 or so turns of the second half were taken up with me not scoring... I got a good few blocks on some dark elves, and stalled up a bit as I didn't want my players hurt any more and they tended to get hurt quite a bit at kickoff time. I managed to get 1 casualty in, and I think a dark elf injured himself on a GFI. I tried to get specific people to score but ball handling skills deserted my players somewhat, so the 2nd fastest catcher ended up scoring on T16 (after I fouled the ST4 elf... possibly my first foul of the season). Notj hit some people but nothing happened, and that was the end of the match & the league season, victory to the Everglade Wanderers!

Dice - Notj had about -10 D6 and I had 0.00. Felt about right. He also had worse 2D6, this also felt about right but he inflicted some long-lasting injuries on my players (not taken account of in the 2D6 chance score). I think he rolled a lot more 2D6 than me (unsurprisingly). Unfortunately the hired hands on notj's team took the MVP and the only casualties he inflicted. I got MVP on my tree who levelled up with a normal roll and will thus be replaced (I think most big guys with 3 normal rolls get fired tbh).

Before notj mentions it, yes I did succeed with 2x 1 dice blocks (whilst having block/wrestle, tackle etc) BUT I also rolled a red skull with another 1D block (having used the re-roll on the failed dauntless roll just before it), that failure made the dark elves' TD a lot easier. My luck felt average and BBM agrees!

Name/backstory for a new treeman appreciated, as the fluff dictated that the team was his enterprise in the first place.

Thanks for the congrats, the constant "elves are cheating" "boring 17-0 win" etc. comments got a bit wearing and takes some of the joy out of winning tbh.

Redwood "Swampy" Joe

When he was a sapling in the Swamps of Lustria, Joe had a dream. That dream was to play big league Blood Bowl like his cousin in the Old World, Bee Tiered. Following a chance encounter with a pair of Amazons, a Skink and an arthritic Croxigor, the details of which I won't go into but involved an awful lot of canoeing, Joe ended up like a naive tourist in the old world.

His first act was to find the Everglade Wanderers and watch a match. As chance would have it Bee Tiered was looking to retire and raise a colony of Hornets on the grounds that somebody who can deal with a bunch of preening Elves day in day out can easily manage a swarm of large stripy stinging insects. Joe saw his chance and presented himself to the remaining Wanderers (camped in the local hospital) as a potential replacement.

That is a reasonable complaint. A league win is a league win and should be enjoyed as such.

The funny part about all that database business is id3 said he was in the middle of uploading it last Sunday when I logged off of Mumble...

...turns out id is a big fat liar and I have 0 reading comprehension to boot! O0

Congrats again on the seasonal win, Gandalf! Even if (not saying I do) one buys into the argument that elves, skaven, etc. are cheating, you're still to be commended for not making mistakes and seeing the ship through. And the waters are made turbulent by Nuffle's Gaze, so to have a near perfect record is to be doubly commended. See you in the cup e_e well, probably not...

I submitted it to BBM, but completely forgot about BBDB because I was keen to play Rocket League.

Well, next week is a mandatory week off so we can get back to our roots and play some Allegiance. I guess those non-Allegiance players could play Blood Bowl if they want, but I'm going to see if the Steam broadcasting thing works nicely with Allegiance so they can at least take a look at our heritage if they wish.

I'm then away from the 19th of December until the 3rd of January, so the 10th would but ideal but I could requisition my brother's PC to play Blood Bowl if everyone else is available before those dates.

I'm in a similar position, in theory I could play over the Xmas period but it'll be a hard sell and requires taking a laptop with us to the in laws. Would be easier for me to pick up in January and maybe play the occasional friendly in the mean time.

I expect to be at home over Christmas, so if anyone does fancy a friendly at some point I'd be up for it.
