Yes 9, that's what I said.... Ahem.

Anyway, that means that the games will be:

SuchDodge vs The Orkly Ducklingz

Da Zoggin' Gitz vs The Pinewood Carrions

The Cangurus vs The Weird Outkasts

Lager & Lime vs The Mighty Undercheesers

So, a mega grudge match between Daigaro and myself... but he's off visiting his cousin tonight. He rang me to say he might be back in time to play, so I'll come along and watch some Blood Bowl in the hopes that he turns up.

Goodness. The Mighty Undercheesers finally looked mighty in beating Lager & Lime 3-1, in a brutal and entertaining match with over 25 total KOs and casualties, 3 sending offs, and unfortunate halfling ball handling.

Might have time to report in more detail later, but might not. It was a good game!

The Weird Outcasts Won again, making it four out of Four (although 2 of those were against the stunty teams, so it may be inflated).

Defeating Idan's Cangurus Elfballers by 3 tds to 1.

Will write a longer write up later.

But suffice it to say, at critical points Idan's luck failed, whilst the Chaos Beastmen caged up for a couple of scores, then scored a 3rd TD with an Ambitious Pass and 2 GFI run from halfway in their own half.
Idan's consolation came too late in the last turn, after a rare mistake left the field wide open for him to score.

Well.

This doesn't seem to capture everything, as there were two deaths (edit: this was apothecaried, I just realised), and the BB client in the aftermatch bit said the halflings had 10 KO's and 7 casualties sustained (vs my 2 KO's, 6 casualties and 1 death), but here only 6. Hmm.

Image

Anyway, the halfings received and the trees strode into the Underworld half, knocking over David Bowie the troll before strolling into contact down both flanks. The Underworld pushed them back, a goblin KOing one, and David Bowie managed to stand up before a goblind and a halfling fell over, ending the turn. A tree knocked Bowie back down and took root, and then Underworld turn 2 saw three more halflings leave the pitch – one KO and two BH. David Bowie also managed to stand up again.

Halfing turn 3 saw Derek II the goblin – Derek I was eaten by David Bowie the game before last – pushed off the pitch and killed. Then a halfling got knocked out and off the pitch – then another hafling got fouled off, and his fouler got sent off!

Then a tree fractured thrower Jimi Hendrix's arm, before the other tree pcked up a halfling and threw him towards the endzone! Touchdown!

The teams line up 9vs9 and the Underworld pick up the very very deep kick and make their way up the right flank, David Bowie taking the opportunity to stand about doing nothing for a bit, and a tree taking the opportunity to smash a halfling into the ground, badly hurting him. Another halfling leaves the pitch, and Jim Morrison the thrower rushes halfway down the pitch to hand off to Burt Bacharach the linerat, who scampers away to hide behind Lou Reed the storm vermin – who promptly gets stunned to the floor by a thrown (and stunned) halfling! Another halfling then makes Burt drop the ball, but he gets up to pick it up, and then another goblin is sent off for fouling off a halfling!

Then a tree knocks himself over, but manages to fall on and badly hurt a goblin. The underworld move closer to the endzone, badly hurting off another halfling on the way, and Burt Bacharach ran in the team's SECOND EVER TOUCHDOWN!

At some point David Bowie had got knocked out, but he got up for the second half, which saw the underworld start with 2 sent off, 1 dead, and 2 badly hurt, vs the halflings' 3 KO's and 3 badly hurts. This gave the halflings an 8vs7 player advantage!

The halfling kick went straight into the arms of Burt "Leading Scorer" Bacharach, and Lou Reed smashed his way into the halfling half, and also smashed a KO'ed halfling off the pitch. A bit of a scrum developed and Burt ran off down the pitch on the right, and a halfling chased after him, but Jim Morrison stuck a leg out and tripped him up. Lou Reed KO'ed another halfling, Bowie felled a tree, and for the halflings' turn 11 they had only a tree standing. Next turn Errol the goblin badhly hurt another halfling to leave only 12 players on the pitch...

The Mighty Undercheesers scored, and at 2-1 the teams set up, 8-7 to the halflings again, with 4 turns for the equaliser. Unfortunately for the halflings, they couldn't pick up the ball! Apparently they had got some of the coach's nipple butter on their hands. The Undercheesers broke through and picked up the ball instead, rushing off with it as Burt killed a halfling, only to see him revived by the halfling team doctor's promise of extra nipple butter. Paul Simon also KO'ed a halfling, David Bowie spent even more time standing around looking a bit lost, a tree badly hurt another goblin, and Jim Morrison even THREW the ball! A whole square! Lou Reed ran it in for the touchdown, 3-1.

There was time for one last turn, where the halflings started with 8 players, and the underworld wih 6 – and time for one last foul, as the halflings badly hurt off Jim Morrison the thrower!

One injury, three badly hurt, one dead, and two sent off for the underworld, with one sending off and four badly hurt for the halflings – I think two of these were inflicted by trees smashing them into the ground at high speed.

Also, if you check the first post, we have a banner (so what if it took me two and a half seasons to get round to it? Shut up!) so that's good.

Week 5 saw The Weird Outkasts start to pull away as the dominant team in this year's competition. They powered their way through The Cangurus to go two points ahead with a game in hand. Will anyone be able to stop the anorak wearing, dice rolling, chaos powerhouse?

The Mighty Undercheesers turned their fortunes around with a strong showing against Lager & Lime. However it's only score difference between these two and they both have some tricky games ahead. It'll be fascinating to see which of them comes out on top.

Finally, The Pinewood Carrions achieved another slow, plodding, 1-0 victory, this time over Da Zoggin' Gitz. It took the Carrions a full 16 turns to get the ball over the line but the goblins had no immovable object to put in the way of the unstoppable force of the Khemri drive. This leaves the Carrions surprisingly in 3rd place although nobody expects it to last.

Cool!

I worked out how to get the other signature as well:

Code: Select all

Just replace your team name at the end. If it has spaces in it, replace them with %20 I think. You can also change "Signature1" to "Signature2"

Matchday 6 Preview

Hi sportsfans, and welcome to this special preview of the upcoming games in the Rolling Thunder Cup. I'm Jim Johnson and with me, as ever, is Bob Bifford.

Thanks, Jim. We'll jump straight into action this week with The Cangurus versus The Pinewood Carrions. The Carrions have the raw strength to push the Cangurus around, but I don't think they have the skills to take them down. If the Cangurus can bounce free they'll be laughing all the way to the endzone.

Quite so, Bob, or they might just lead the crowd in inspirational chants. Next up we have Lager & Lime mixing it up with The Orkly Ducklingz for a big night out. The sensible money has to be on the Orcs for this one. They have a solid line up and they're itching to build some successes.

That's true, Jim, but Lager & Lime have had some surprising results over the course of the season so you can never count them out. Moving on it's current leaders, The Weird Outkasts playing The Mighty Undercheesers. The experience of the Outkasts has to make them the favourites for this match although the Undercheesers may be able to entice a star player to help even the odds.

You can't trust those stars though, Jim, they're always glory hogs who play their own game, not with the team.

Didn't you used to play as a mercenary star in the last years of your playing career, Bob?

Yes, Jim, yes I did. Finally it's Team Shrek facing SuchDodge. The Ogres have been pounding all comers so far, although the Amazon ladies may find that they're better able than most to duck and dive around the big fists of the Ogres.

It's a hard one to call isn't it, Bob, and that's why it's Jim's One to Watch this week!

See you next time for more fun and fumbles!
