House rules - journeymen & inducements

Hi everyone :D

Looking forward to the game tonight! After the injury-prone-though-successful outing against Gandalf last weekend I have a question: what're the house rules re. journeymen and inducements?

Basically, when playing single-player against the computer I've found that when I go into a game with less than eleven players, even if I spend inducement money on inducements (rather than mercenaries) the computer gives me enough mercenaries to make the numbers up to 11 at the start of the game. (Presumably if I spend the inducement money on mercenaries, the computer doesn't still give extra mercenaries and take the number of players above 11.)

I have looked on the forum/bbtactics etc. but haven't come across this situation... (maybe I've misunderstood, or it doesn't happen in multiplayer). Assuming it does though, what does everyone in the league do when they lack players? Is there a house rule along the lines of "inducement money should be spent first of all on making up numbers, and only then on inducements"? Or is any spending pattern considered "fair game"?

I did find discussion of something related - the "journeymen bug" - on bbtactics. (Basically, if you have enough non-inducement cash available, should you have to spend it on buying players rather than saving it/spending it on something else and relying on journeymen?) Given the player shortage on the soon-to-be Sons, Cousins, Nephews, Servants and Gardeners of the Silver Sword, this situation is also likely to crop up at some point...

Wouldn't want to tread on anyone's toes second game into the league... (unless its Elves treading on Lizardmen....)

(short reply as on phone, sorry)

You get the journeymen / free linemen to take you up to 11, and then you hire who you might want with the inducement money, if that answers the question?

The journeymen's value is added to your team value, so taken off how much inducement money you might expect.

Ok, seems like I may have had a single-player-specific problem then. Thankx.

Or, on further investigation, I think I probably just confused myself and found a really-far-too-old-to-be-current page on the internet.
