Our primary values are:
- Respect: for all individuals, regardless of skill level, both in games and out of them.
- Communication: Open, honest, and friendly discussion, especially in matters affecting the squad.
- Excellence: A commitment to give our best and improve our best.
- Fun: The grease that keeps the RT machine from overheating and breaking down.
Follow those values, and odds are you'll be fine. However, sometimes a more formal list of rules is needed.
The Rules
These rules apply to both the forums here and your conduct in games, and even to some extent into the real world. When you are a member of Rolling Thunder, you represent us at all times.
- No harassment or threats to others, both inside and outside of the organization.
- No sexually explicit, abusive, offensive, or obscene language.
- Exchange, aiding in exchange, or discussion of illegal goods or activities (Such as pirated software or copyrighted content) is prohibited.
- Membership in groups engaged in activities that are hateful or otherwise go against the Rolling Thunder rules or values is prohibited.
- Posting with specific purpose of advertisement is prohibited. If you wish to advertise or sponsor something, please contact the Administration.
- Cheating in multiplayer games is prohibited. This includes but is not limited to abuse of bugs, use of exploits, use of cheating software, and use of unapproved game mods.
- Buying, or selling, of in-game items or other features must be done through methods sanctioned by the relevant game.
- Forum posting must not be disruptive or disorderly. Posts of this nature include:
- Posts not relevant to the current conversation.
- Posting in a long-dead thread, or 'Necro-Posting'
- Posting new threads on subjects already under discussion
- Acting in a manner to make another member of Rolling Thunder break these rules is prohibited.
The Punishments
Punishments for breaking the rules should be as open and easily available as the rules themselves. However, no two situations are the same, so exact punishments will vary. Punishments can be combined, such as a forum suspension with a game suspension.
Each member also has a permanent record, which all punishments except a Verbal Warning are listed on, along with who issued the punishment. If a punishment is appealed or otherwise changed, the permanent record will list both the original punishment and the change as result of the appeal. A member's permanent record is only available to the Leadership and that member on request.
[list]
[*]'Verbal' Warning: The member is reprimanded, but nothing is added to their permanent record.
[*]Written Warning: The member is reprimanded, and a note is added to their permanent record.
[*]Event Suspension: The member is prohibited from joining a specific game event.
[*]Game Suspension: The member is prohibited from joining game events for a set time. This may be restricted to a single game.
[*]Forum Suspension: The member is prohibited from posting in one or more forums for a set time.
[*]Ejection: Permanent removal from the Rolling Thunder organization. The former member can no longer post on the forums or join in any Rolling Thunder events.
Appealing Punishments
Nobody is perfect, and mistakes happen. While we trust our Leadership to give the proper punishments, sometimes the punishment is a little too extreme for the crime.
If you have been issued a punishment, you can appeal it to the Leadership. When a punishment is appealed, the Moderator or Leader who applied the punishment is asked to give their reasoning, and then the rest of the Leadership decides on if that punishment was appropriate. If it is deemed to be inappropriate, then a new punishment will be approved by the Leadership and applied. A punishment from an appeal will never be strictly worse than it was before the appeal. As an example, a 1 Week Forum Suspension that is appealed will not be turned into a 10-Day forum suspension.
