A quick thought about log display - currently you're showing block dice results as DD, DS, BD etc.

What would be nice would be to sub in images. BBTactics has smilies on their forum iirc so you might be able to ask nicely and use those files.

OK 'Dalf - Me Vs Idan (Welcome back!) is uploaded; so I looked at the log - looks like a nice list; but I can't compare it with BBM because that's still broken.

Won't lie though; as a person who couldn't think of much worse things than staring at line of code it's very.... uninspiring to look at...

The list of numbers I mean; please don't take that as a slight on all the hard work that goes into making the list (I'm sure theres lots and its beyond me).

Yeah... best wait until if/when that is back before trying to verify this data much...

Have you ever had a look at the log in BBM? I think that's equally uninspiring... Ultimately these aren't things that are supposed to be awesome to look at - but the stats derived from them can be. There is some tarting up that can be done (eg Rav's suggestion) but this is a first draft whose purpose is to assist in making sure BBDB is correctly gathering all the information.

I understand that you don't understand the work that's gone into it but appreciate it nonetheless :) Do the lines at least make sense to you when you look at them properly? Here's an example of one of the lines... I've been doing documenting work in my job recently, which reminded me yet again that what may be blindingly obvious to me may be complete gobbledegook to a fresh pair of eyes and that it's my job to try and bridge the divide.

eg 12. (RR: no data) Meredith Brooks Armour (not a block) (8)7 => Failure

  • 12 - it's the 12th roll of the match that I am recording
  • (RR: no data) - there is no information regarding the reroll status of this roll.
  • Meredith Brooks - the name of the player (obvs)
  • Armour (not a block) - the type of roll.... in this case it is an armour roll from something other than a block (I think this was from a blitz)
  • (8) - What needs to be rolled for the roll to succeed
  • 7 - What was actually rolled
  • => Failure - The outcome of the roll.
The line is coloured black or red to indicate which team threw the dice.

Again can I re-emphasize that I don't want lots of feedback regarding the presentation. If there is some data presented that you don't understand, then ask it, but please concentrate on the actual data and its correctness (or otherwise).

Gandalf wrote:ok.... thanks for that. Having looked into it, yes it has only done the first log file. But other matches have done multiple log files just fine. I don't have the functionality to reload them at the stage where it lost 1 of them, so I will work on adding that ability.

Rav/la, I've brute-forced this one in... the reload functionality I build wasn't working so I just hit it a lot and that got it in.

I purposefully set alight the Daigaro-signal to see if it worked, and indeed it did.

Not sure if this is a bug or not but...

I wanted to check to see how hilariously terrible Idan's Kroxigor was last night. The logs don't seem to include Bonehead rolls. I imported the log into Excel (there's another point here but I'll post that elsewhere), and sorted out all the log entries with Big Mountain in. It included all his actions but the Bonehead rolls were nowhere to be seen. I know BBM can track the negatrait dice so they should be in the files somewhere.

Yay, useful feedback. More please!

This is fixed; the log calls it "bone-head" not "bonehead" - tweaked the lookup in the database and it's all good now. :)

Match 109

Something odd is happening with line 1 - (RR: Team re-roll but Loner failed) Weather (?)8 => Team re-roll but Loner failed

The RR data doesn't show like that for other weather rolls. This was the game where the first action was a blitz that double skulled, reroll, loner fail.

For reference, weather rolls are as follows:

2 - Sweltering Heat
3 - Very Sunny
4-10 - Nice
11 - Pouring Rain
12 - Blizzard

:-[

Errrm Oops

We played our game on Sunday, crashed at half time, so did it again sitting all the injured players off to the side.

I uploaded the match at the end, and intended to upload the latest (second half) only.

But I appear to have uploaded the log file from the first half, and the Data From the seconds.

e.g.
http://gandalfgames.net/bbdb/matchdetai ... tch_id=112
Shows what happened in the second - with only 2 injuries.

whereas if I do the Match log for that match (112) it shows what happened in the first half (e.g. 4 goblins injured early on - Troll turning over on the first block)

http://gandalfgames.net/bbdb/matchlogdisplaytest.php

Not sure how I managed that - Will this cause a problem for your system? Do you want to delete the match and i can resubmit it?

I agree - I'm not sure how you've managed that!!!

Easiest solution is to just email the correct log files to me and I'll get it fixed. It's welsh gandalf at "the world's most common search engine's email program" dot com.

In a way it's nice to know all the ways uploads can go wrong, so that when I redesign it it will be as good/flexible as it can be.

Sorry - can you put this in the match report log thread?

In my head this is for "unexpected things that are wrong" - the vast majority of stuff I test really well before I put it live.

The match report log has a big fat "NOT FULLY DONE" sticker on it - ie I expect many bugs, so they should go in there to avoid cluttering up this one.

Apologies - I will do this, but I've been exceptionally busy the last few nights and haven't managed to fire up the big ole gaming machine. Will try and do it tonight (probably quite late though)
