Replicating BB Manager's "Hall Of Fame" charts

I figure a worthy aim is that what I build should provide at least the same functionality as BBM so let's talk about that. We have charts for each league (in scope for future build), so this post will concentrate on the other one, "RT BBL" which is our over-arching league.

I don't think I need to (and I don't think it's worth) building a separate page to have these charts.... because I have already built the Advanced Team List page, which can have as many columns in it as we like. Does anyone disagree with this approach? Coming in the next proper release there will also be an Advanced Player List page, serving the same purpose but for players.

I would also add that I beat BBM here... because their stats are cumulative based on all the games that have been submitted to BBM. However, the overall stats per team/player prior to the match in question are already in the cyanide saved games file, so I use those instead, after adding the match itself to those numbers. So we will have complete RTBBL stats without having to load all the old games! All that's needed is to have uploaded the most recent match featuring that team.

Now onto the charts themselves. I've added my feelings/comments, please add yours. I want to avoid having 200 columns on this Advanced Team List page so I'm trying to weed out less-exciting numbers. You can still click on a team and find out their overall numbers, there's even some new ones in there you don't see in BBM (total cash earned anyone?).

Scorers - done
Passers - done
Interceptors - can add this, is it wanted?
Catches - can add this, is it wanted? It's always a similar number to passes
meters_run - done
meters_thrown - done
knocked downs inflicted - can add this
casualties - done
killed - can add this
most experienced - this appears to be approximately the sum of current xp on the team currently. Is this that interesting? We already have team value which will give similar results.
knocked downs received - can add this
best defenders - this is total TD's conceded, I don't think it makes sense to have this in the overall comparison as teams will ahve played different numbers of games. It can be in the league tables though as it's more relevant there.

===============================

If you have any suggestions for any other numbers then feel free to add them - however if that number is not currently stored on the team's individual pages the answer will probably be "maybe in v2".

Killed, certainly.

Inteceptors? Dunno. No?

Most experienced, not really. Defenders, no, for your reasons.

Might be nice to compare the mean TDs or TDs conceded per game.

That'd be a way to make the most free scoring and best defending teams work over multiple seasons..

Oh yes, that's a cracking idea.

Other averages could be interesting too, but for a lot of things the overall totals are good too. I know I'm looking forwards to reaching 1000 passing yards.

FUMBBL show you the average per game when you hover over the numbers, but you can't compare them then. Maybe a whole new "average stats" view would be the way forward, for teams who have played a minimum number of games.

Any other input? I have firm ideas on how to structure the data behind the scenes, but vague, evolving ideas for the front end so it's somewhere where answers from the rest of RT can really help.

One thought, I think the NAF offer a chart showing results in a grid with your race down one side and the other side down the other. So you can see that with Amazons you've lost 3 games to dwarfs and so on.

Off topic but thanks... trying here to concentrate on BBM's tables, do we want them, do you agree with what I said at the start of the OP and are there any other similar categories you want.

Added interceptions, knockdowns received/taken, kills dished out/taken, and total games played, which could've been calculated by the user beforehand, but now it's in there, users can sort by it.

Again I ask - are you happy that this meets the criteria of "replicate the team stats that BBM shows us" ??

Looks really good, nice to have it all in easy table form (although I like the BBM summary images too).
