AD carries

Postby Phantom032 » Wed Feb 27, 2013 1:08 am

I think you all know I prefer draven whenever possible - but there will be games where he is either picked or banned before I can get him. I'm looking what other ad carries I can play because honestly - I dont really like cait vs draven. Also cait is an early/midgame champ and not the best carry for lategame. Also I dont really like playing cait.

I've been thinking who else to pick.
If draven is banned right now I would prefer to pick graves or ashe.

As a draven counter I'm thinking corki right now. I've never played him before but from what I have seen he can keep up with dravens dmg output once he has sheen, has great poke, a strong gapcloser/escape ability, bush-vision and aoe farming ability.

Another good counter to draven is kogmaw (ult on axe = no farming with axe in lane for draven) but I'm afraid kog in general doesnt really fit with my playstyle and in general is a bit weak atm due to lack of strong cc / escape.

So - should I buy corki, save IP or get kog because kog actually is awesome and I just have no plan?

Or maybe I should go ap/as teemo as draven counter and just blind him whenever he gets close  ;D

As counter to Draven I was thinking Ezreal: nice escape (which cannot be canceled), nice burst damage, free AS as well, great damage output late game.

Corky works as well, he is very similar to ezreal in positioning and damage output.

There are choices :P.

Bah Ezreal is just overrated. Save IP to get Kog then buy Corki! :) (means there is a least one guy who can pick him for you in Champselect :P)

Kog's biggest weakness is his dependency on good Support <-- which shouldn't be that much of problem since we got Koln xD

I am also pretty sure its possible to really hurt Draven with 'w' harrass in lane or at least trade even if he tries to come for poke. But then again you don't have to fight him and just farm safely under the tower until 6 when you can poke him (again the superior range with w helps to farm).

Other question: Did you try out MF yet? Seems a very solid allround carry as well.

I remember Fazz's Varus and saw a lot of potential in it.

Seems like a pretty training-intensive champ though.

Oh no, you don't "trade" with Draven. Unless you have something like infinite sustain more than him, you just get harrassed to death with his q.

Kog is nice, but it's not only about the champion, it is about the style of the player. Maybe phantom wouldn't feel confortable with him since he's really slow and has no escape possibility other than flash.

MF seems a nice choice though. Nice escape (aka movement speed until hit) and damage. Also her awesome burst damage and aoe ult makes her an amazing combo with leona ^^.

Also, I really like this website, just cause it reminds you of champs, you make the final choice of course:

I think that Varus can be a strong choice because of his cc - ulti. Against Draven i would possibly pick corki if u dont want cait ...

Yea Mem its a nice website to get an overview but sometimes the listed counter picks are just completely wrong or not listed (for example zed vs nid) .. ^^

I have Corki, he's a lot of fun, not that I'm great with him.

I do really appreciate a) having a gap-closer, and b) having poke or a way to kill people who are fleeing. The ability to check bushes without walking into them is useful too.

Uses a lot of mana though - there's a case for your support starting with mana manipulator, especially if you aren't planning on going down the manamune route. Good for your support to have some cc too, since you don't have any. Manamune wasn't really the pro's choice in season 2, but since its upgrade in S3, I think it's more viable on him.

I also think you would be a monster with Vayne, Phantom. Besides, with our superior support play (ehm, Koln), we might be in for some really sweet business even early game which is Vayne's weak point.

I have corki now - definitely a good pick if draven is banned. Didnt have a chance to use him against draven yet - but by now I think no ad carry really counters draven. However some supports do and a good burst support + ad can win a fight while draven is CCed.

Meaning i might as well do graves. Graves + tarices/leona/alistar/blitz hurts a lot and one of those supports must always be free.

Just played Corki again today.

I think a good starting combo is vampiric sceptre/boots/tear of the goddess. Next up sheen, then work on upgrading to blade of the ruined king, manamune and of course Trinity Force, with the last 2 items in your build dependant on how the game is going. Concentrate on AD rather than crits, to make good use of Corki's passive. I got Mercurial scimitar in my last game as there was lots of magic damage about.

The manamune was probably not the optimum choice in S2, but now since it can deal 100+ extra damage a shot, as well as letting you spam your abilities like mad, I think it's definitely worth it. With 300AD, manamune and triforce you're doing 880 or so damage for your first shot after using an ability  :o (750 physical damage, 30 true damage, 100 magic damage).

Just a small correction: Sheen (and Triforce) don't double your total ad on your next hit after ability, just your base damage.
