I pooked around MWO yesterday, and while my laptop doesn't run it well my new comp should do better. And i'll have rthat tomorrow.
Is there a way to invert the throttle axis?
is the vertical look always so slow?
Halp!
Re: Halp!
different mechs handle differently, were you perhaps in a Stalker when your vertical was so slow?
also - every few matches my game gets abysmal FPS and there's no cure but to restart the client.

Well, when you are new, you want to focus on your arm mounts as those will feel the most natural and have higher targeting speeds. As you get used to moving in your mech, it gets easier to unleash the tits of death.
I used a 6x light laser Jenner to get used to movement. Not the most focused and so common you will puke, I went from being the first to die every round to usually the last to survive and very much upped my victory ratio. I must admit, this was 1-3 months ago, the game started crashing on me quite often after a patch and I just never regained momentum. You get XP in training mechs now you lucky dog.
Also, as far as throttle goes, I assume you are using joystick instead of keyboard and mouse? With K&M, WASD setup feels pretty natural. You lose some cool factor but ease your learning curve if you avoid a joystick. Do as you will. In space sims I use a joystick but keep my left hand off the throttle and on the keyboard. Then I have free hand for the keyboard, I keep the throttle on full and just have reverse/ forward thrust on the keyboard. Perhaps a setup like that would help? Or in other words, drop the joystick throttle, use the joystick for aiming, direction, and weapons, and the keyboard for throttle and the other dozen buttons that get unwieldy on a joystick.
Edit: Naturally you have to discern the mark on your hud that is your chest direction and arm direction, but as we are all Mech vets in RT, I shouldn't have to mention that

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0071L ... 03_s00_i00 is what I use. I have sooo many buttons! Very rarely need to hit the keyboard for anything. I can target, fire, alpha strike, change weapons, cloak, change view type (Yay hat switch as buttons!), throttle.... it's all fantastic. I just have to get used to HOW the controls work.
I've figured out what the hud indicator for twist/vertical movement is, but it just moves so godawfully slow with the stick. Only issue with the throttle is that full BACK is full throttle. It's not that big of a deal, I just prefer it switched.
