Infiltrators, Pods, and You

Postby Andon » Mon Jan 14, 2013 11:21 pm

Infiltrators are goddamned ridiculously awesome when paired with a drop pod.

Amp Stations and Watchtowers are the best - There's areas on them that you can pod onto (Try to hit the center of the spire as close as possible), and you can see down onto the majority of the area without being obvious.

Obvious and not-so-obvious tips:
1) Cloak after every shot. Immediately. Not quite as needed in some areas of the Amp Stations, since they have areas you can step back and crouch and become unable to be seen by anyone below.
2) Circles are best. Don't stay still - Run around the perimeter until a target shows up.
3) The bolt driver has virtually no bullet drop. I've hit people in their head at ranges where I was having people disappear due to render distance.
4) MAXes take four headshots to go down.
5) Sometimes it is best to let the MAX live - Because often, there'll be a steady stream of engineers.
6) Aircraft landing pads are awesome.
7) Enemy infiltrators are equally awesome, since they have to stand still to accomplish anything.
8) #6 and #7 combined = Field Day.
9) You can snipe people out of Engineer turrets
10) Keep an eye out for light assault troopers! They can get up to all the places!
11) Also keep an eye out for enemy infiltrators. If it's a three-way fight, you're more likely to find an enemy that's had the same idea.
12) Aircraft can see you.

What I'd like to do at some point in time is get an Engineer to pod in with me, just for the infinite ammo and a good second lookout. Now, engineers have the problem of not being able to cloak, but there are spots in most of the areas where you can stand and not be easily seen

That's some useful tips there, Andon.  If I weren't such a terrible shot I'd give Infiltrator a go.
Guess I can always be your engie backup some time.  ;)

I'm a terrible shot with most anything - you should give infiltrators a try. They're fairly straightforward once you realize you don't have to compensate for bullet drop. Point and click!

Oh, one Infiltrator point I found while randomly reading PS2 stuff around the web that you didn't mention here; the shift key lets you hold your breath while scoped in, reducing the waver in your sights.

Yeah, I did forget to menntion that one. You can't do anything as an infiltrator without that

Lies.  I made a ton of kills without the shift key.  After I figured out the shift key, sniping became just too easy.

Yeah, it drifts around in an infinity symbol which is entirely predictable once you get used to it. But using shift.... oh man, it's fantastic. My issue is I have a habit of using the shift too early, and then when I actually need it it's not available.
