Re: Elite: Dangerous - now in Premium Beta (100£) E3-trailer added

Nursery... All that money... Sigh.

It's also the expense vs time to enjoy graph that doesn't quite work the way I'd choose. Not to mention the bloomin' washing machine packing up. Sigh.

Lifetime expansions pass is only up for sale until the 15th, and standard Beta arrives on the 29th.
[/quote]
Incorrect - Premium Beta closes 15th, but lifetime expansions pass (£35) available until 29th (according to Adept's own link).

So Rav you have a bit more time to not afford it!

Also judging my money spent on computer-based things I always thought of Adept as having more disposable income than Rav.

I'm sort of perpetually poor and hardly ever properly employed. I just don't drink, smoke or have kids. I guess the computer is very nearly the only hobby (besides role playing games) that takes money for me.

Thanks for catching the mistake about the lifetime pass Gandy.

Elite seems like a great game.. but 60 euros for beta access and another 40 for expansions is just a bit too much for me really.

To be absolutely frank, the sane thing is to just buy the game at launch and decide on each expansion as they come. They will be a year or more apart anyway. I'm just a little head over heels for this one  8)

I'm considering getting a space cow (Lakon Type 9) I have nearly 600,000 cr at the moment, and they sell for a million. Tradeback from the Cobra is probably 80 - 90k, the selling the weapons would get me another 100k+

I can make ~32k / pair of trade runs. I'd need to do 10 - 20 such trips, which could fairly easily be done over one week. I've been enjoying learning the Cobra properly, but maybe I should take the opportunity to try a big freighter while it's in easy reach?

Lol! Take that back  :P

Didn't try yet. I can make about 120,000 - 150,000 / hour with a simple trade run in my Cobra, but it's still a 3 hour job. Instead I did an extended weapons test with my Cobra and massacred about 35 Federal fighter pilots with the pimped up Cobra. Poor, doomed fighter jocks...

I'll get you yet!  :D

In other news, Standard Beta ( £50 / €60 / $75 ) starts on the 29th of this month, and the updated single-player missions are now open for anybody with beta access. For anybody intending to get a taste of the game before release (which is 3 - 5 months away) now is a really good time for it. The added cost of getting Beta is very little on top of the release price, and those single player missions are really polished and fun (and a great way to set up your controllers and get a feel for the sidey).

Viper mk II is coming soon. Presumably on the 29th of this month when regular Beta starts.

Picked up premium beta yesterday. Ran through some of the single player missions. Man, they are harsh.

Yeah. The AI they put in them pulls no punches, and often you're against a similar or better ship... or several. It's not Wing Commander, that's for sure.

Got through all but the last two before hopping in multiplayer. Thanks for the money, Adept! I shall be putting it to good use... once I get home from work. Hopefully I'll be able to work up to a hauler reasonably quickly now that I'm not scraping the bottom of the barrel for things.

I am no longer Backer #49902! Pilot name "Andon" secured. Haven't had a chance to log in though. Still at work...
