Elf, is the sound bothering you somehow?

Uther curiously disappears and in his absence a regal prince puts a friendly arm around the terrified elf. Assured that he is safe, he spills his story:

"M-my name is Sylvos, of the Undercity. Please! You must help us! The Undercity is under attack by goblins! W-w-we're not sure how long we can hold out in the siege - please bring word to our relatives in the enchanted city of Riverside, or all will be-"

The elf does a little hnnngh, clearly trying hard to push the sound aside so that he can continue his story. He visibly sweats in this effort, until R'rud asks him what is the matter.

"That sound... that hideous.. hnnngh, STOP THAT!"

Perhaps we can help you Sylvos. But first, perhaps you can answer some questions.

First, what is so hideous about the sound for you friend? Don't you sharpen blades were you come from? Or is there a different cause?

Second, I am a duellist and have seen my share of staffs. Somehow I can't really put my finger to yours though. What does it do? Do you have more like it where you are from? How would you rate its power?

Third,  what is the Undercity and why are the goblins attacking you?

Finally, why should we help you and if we do, where is Riverside?

Uther feels a bit of a sense of foreboding

"Surely Powerful Elf Mages such as yourself have little to fear of those pathetic goblin creatures. Is there something else out there that is helping them? Where are they all coming from?"

[Drakon]

Sylvos makes a face at all the questions, particularly at the first one.

"Are you deaf? How can you scrape metal on metal like that? Of COURSE its hideous! *calms down somewhat* and we don't sharpen our blades, elf-swords don't need sharpening.

R'rud shows him his staff (giggity):

"Oh, that old thing.. (haha) its a walking stick, everyone has one. Why? I suppose you can get one in the Undercity, where we make them... if its still standing...

Undercity is where I live, it's a great elf-city deep in underground. Riverside is just across the desert, humans can't see it without the walking sticks. It's a safe haven for elves above ground."

On goblins:

"It's true that magic is something easily commanded by the elf race.. but the goblins are too numerous..."

Some silence.

"We don't know where they came from. We thought them all but extinct. A month ago dozens of them harassed some miners close to the Undercity. Then hundreds and thousands turned up within days.. I...I.."

Sylvos puts his hand to his face and starts making peculiar noises. It dawns to all of you that the elf is weeping.

Seems like the goblins are linked to the worm thing. We could go and help the elf city, and try to capture a goblin to track it back to the worm. Or ignore the elves and wait for another goblin attack to capture one.

We could go to Riverside. Perhaps the Elves are willing to teach us some spells and give us some decent staffs as a thank you for helping them.

NJ : {The Goblins themselves seem like stupid creature.
I'd like to see where they are coming from too.}

Uther - thinks the the under-city sounds an awfully dangerous place though.

Perhaps we should head to Riverside - that sounds nice. Maybe they will reward us for warning them about the Goblin threat.

I feel like we need to head to riverside, warn them and perhaps get goodies, and then head to the underciry

[Drakon]

"Excellent!" Sylvos beams, already jumping to his feet. "Come, let us go swiftly! There is no time to waste!"

Hang on just a minute.... you've not had a proper night's sleep, exhausted physically and mentally... are you up for taking the journey  now?! Or should you rest first?

(You will not regain your mana should you choose to head out immediately)

Friend Sylvos..

You seem to forget that while you were out cold, we were fighting all night to protect you. We need a small amount of rest to regain our strength. Then we are ready to go.

[Andon]

Going without rest would cause more issues than waiting

I say rest up and then head to Riverside. I've always wanted to see how the elves live!

Day 3

Congratulations for surviving thus far! You narrowly missed the band of wolves I was going to send after you if you braved the night through riverside... the team wakes up, gets breakfast, and feels their own power burgeoning inside them.. oh wait, that's just your bladder filling up..

You begin your journey, the sun is shining and everyone is happy and fit for the journey to Riverside, so you move west, where Sylvos says the city would be.

*rolls dice*

Suddenly, SANDSTORM! You choke on the sand and dust as it rages around you. Lancelot and his fellows surround the party and try to fence off the worst of it, but visibility is very bad. You spot what could be an abandoned mine in the distance. Do you..

1. Press on
2. Run for shelter.
3. Cast a spell?!

Option D: Play some techno music.

Real option: Seek out themine. Don't venture deep (Who knows what is there?) But use entrance for shekter.
