I was doing that, still ending up at 50-80km out on just that one.

I ran into a guy in an asp, he invited me to a wing, and we proceeded to demolish extraction sites for the next two hours. I raked in probably about two million in bounties. I now have either just barely or almost enough money for a clipper. I'm up to Knight rank now, and allied with the entirety of the Empire, but I still need two more ranks. By the time I get them, I should have enough money to do some outfitting for the clipper.

And now a large part of that Clpper has been made with Combat Bond and Bounty money? Nicely done, and Frontier are getting the balancing right.

I checked yesterday - I have made about 8.5 million via trading, 7 million via bounties and combat bonds. Tgis was before my fub yesterday and I think it counts the 7 mil bonus from Lugh.

Two more ranks to go, and then it's clipper time!

Glad to hear it Andon. Then you need to figure out how to keep that hungry cadillac of a ship fuelled up and in good repair. Upgrading that beast will cost a lot more than just buying it... and I suspect it's a bit rubbish for fighting early on.

That's why I'll be saving up a bit more to outfit it nicely. I am thinking of fitting two gimballed beam lasers and two gimballed multicannons on it. The thing really needs gimbals as the weapon mounts are on the engine pods

I know. I suspect the ship will only really come to it's own when we can have a dedicated gunner riding shotgun.

I might also deck it out for exploration, because why not?

Well, because an Asp is cheaper and better at exploring. But it doesn't look anything like as good as a Clipper. If you make contact with the Thargoids you want to make a good impression after all :)

I'm tempted by a Fer de Lance at the moment, but will probably be stuck with my Cobra for a while yet.

If you're looking to get out of a Cobra and into a dedicated killing machine you should just get a Vulture. Good firepower, good combat endurance, and the same shitty jump range as you'd get in an FDL. Hell of a lot cheaper, too.

The thing is slow as hell though, but can take a beating. I have mine fitted with C5 shields, an A-rate shield booster, Milspec hull, two D1 Hull Reinforcement Packages and I beleive it's a D2 reinforcement as well. So far while hunting I haven't needed the hull yet. A few shield cells here amd there, but that's about it

After a semi disappointing evening hunting with Wyld and Id3 I wondered if Chimiri has been fished out as it were and decided to move to LTT 7488. The Res sites near Rubin Vision were frothing with security forces and big game. I killed 2 clippers, a Python, a few vipers and assorted adders and Sidewinders.

Worth a look. I want to do some more missions for the Imperial faction to get allied too, won't hurt my Imperial Rep overall either.

There's not a lot of missions in 7488, I've noticed. However, the pickings are really nice - Today I went through for maybe 45 minutes or so, and brought back a little over half a million. No dropships. No Clippers. No Pythons. No anacondas. Just vipers, cobras, sidewinders, eagles, and the occasional Adder.

Plus, Rubin Vision has decent equipment available as well.

I got a type 6 for a change to smuggle weapons in support of the Federation at Khaka. First flight in, I'm a little skittish about all the commanders in powerful ships. Everybody's clean, but you know how easy it's to clear your bounties...

Don't I know it, on approach to the station, I get interdicted. I beat the opponent, and watch a Python and a Fer-de-Lance drop out of warp. F*ck me! That was some overkill gank attempt right there. I redline it to the station, riding the ragged edge of the 6 second deceleration envelope, and just as I'm about to drop in, another interdiction (I think they got back into SC, and had a very high level interdictor for the range). Luckily the safe disengage text came up, and I could just drop to the station.

So yeah... carrying weapons for the Federation is quite the gauntlet to run just now. I'm wondering if I should stick with my iron-arse Cobra afterall. Exciting though
