Wizards!
Re: Wizards!
Day 2-3
You enjoy a calm and peaceful walk through the countryside, going in an easterly direction. The land is beautiful and idyllic. Rolling green hills and the occasional traveler. You eat when hungry and sleep when it gets dark.
Day 4
On the fourth day you come to a dreadful mountain pass called... well you don't know what it's called. It's just a ring of mountain and stone that creates the convenient border of west Drakonia and east Drakonia. It looks really menacing with its constant lightning bolts and sunless sky.
As you enter the pass, things get really dark that you can barely see. You're not sure if it's day or night but pretty soon, everything becomes pitch black and none of you can see the noses in front of your faces.
Then a voice speaks. You're not sure where it comes from, either in your head or from some unknown direction, but you all seem to hear the same thing:
"HELL-o there! <your name>! Welcome to my humble abode in the material plane. I am Satan... uh, I mean, Santa! Yessss.. you boys have been very good haven't you? I would like to give you a present.. ho ho ho.."
All of you gasp as your body surges with power. You know that this is but a sample of what Santa can give you. It is most intoxicating. The power is most..
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaand... all of this and more can be YOURS! If you sign [a piece of parchment enters your peripheral vision] here, here and here I will give you more power than you could ever imagine! What's the catch, you ask? THERE ISN'T ONE! This is a reward for behaving like a good boy for most of the year...
You guys have decisions to make. If you sign Santa's contract you immediately gain 10 levels. Or you could refuse. Or attempt to cast a spell..

Re: Wizards!
I say we plant the idea to give us our lvl 10 without signing the parchment...
Ints kill nans, probes kill bombers.

Re: Wizards!
I smell the fish and suspect STD.
I cast Learn (Current mana = 92.... -18m):
- To establish the identity and "moral compass" of this individual, the sun is not the only thing that also rises and some people get a hard-on on the weirdest things... I grip my staff both for mental tenacity and for attack-repulsion-readyness (as I suggest you do too)
- I also suspect this is not the first time this deal has been offered, though not to us... and the fate of the previous signers troubles me, especially the fate directly derived from having signed the deal...
- Any sign of resistance from this learn can be taken as an act of agression (that should be taken out on some elf and not us!)
- At which point Slow would be most beneficial so that we have enough time to decide to run or fight for booty (his or our own!)

Re: Wizards!
Read the contract.
Re: Wizards!
Waiting on notjarvis but I'll answer Raveen's question first.
Unfortunately... no. You seem to have walked from rolling green hills to dry blasted wasteland without any kind of transition at all.

Re: Wizards!
In that case I ready my staff and wait for Andronicus to finish reading, ready to bash the blighter on the bonce if needs be.

Read the contract.
I cast Genius (7M)!
In order to attempt to plant the genius idea in "Santa's" head, that explaining all the sub-clauses and hidden loopholes is a current legal requirement on Drakonia before any contract is signed.

Re: Wizards!
Mana recharges every day so take that into account when you calculate remaining mana.
Verincent attempts to cast his sight into the murky past and finds that his spell is blinded! You feel a malevolent will pressing through the channel of your sight, and quickly sever it.
Andronicus lives up to his nickname and actually reads the damn thing, but to his dismay it merely reads:

Likewise, the attempt to bewilder Santa's mind was repelled just as surely as Verincent's attempt to look into time.. this is worrying..
There's nothing to it, lads. Either you take the power up, risks and all, or refuse.

Re: Wizards!
Ask Satanta what happens if we refuse. I'm sure he'll give us reasons not to.
Re: Wizards!
(As a side note, I only now noticed that me and Andon not only went the same seer route, but also named our characters based on same principle: Victory. Andronicus = man of victory; Vincent comes from vincere = to be victorious... I just wanted to add a little truth [veritas] in there... and since Andon was the first one to post, I must've either copied him or uncannily thought alike)
Re: Wizards!
Waiting on Idanmel and notjarvis. Just a tip for the future if you guys aren't doing anything just post a simple 'x' or 'pass' so that I know when to move on

Re: Wizards!
*Verincent looks into his palms and sees the hairs growing in them.*
Dear lads, I figure that we have only been together too short a time and besides needing all the help we can get, we are just too young a party to not challenge ourselves.
And since it seems fate has decided to keep her bikini on (and seemingly won't take it off, no matter which devices we pursue) unless we promise marriage and all it might entail, I would say let's do it. We are a crafty bunch, right? We get some tools now and we can deal with the consequences later! (and I hereby promise I will deal with the consequences to the best of my abilities)
Besides, whats the worst that can happen? A quest? Bring it on.

"Ultimate power? That'll show those %$£%$£'s at the college"
He tries to push past the others and sign the contract.
