I find it fun. Spent about two hours playing it. They have a nice "One-Man Trial" area where you can test out planes (And your controls!) and even a group test area for playing in groups. It is a bit hard to aim, but htat's mostly because I'd been flying tier I and II craft. Which are like flying pigs.

Actually, the lower the tier the more mobile the plane. So aiming is easier with them. Higher tiers however can deal more damage in a small amount of time. So once you line up...

The tier 1 and 2 planes are bricks that can't turn. Sure, they're slower so they don't need as much room to turn, but my tier III can turn a whole lot better thann them.

Maybe they changed it since last I played. It has been a long while.

You should fire it up sometime with me. I'm actually not terrible at it - So long as I remember to "dive" when inverted. My plane didn't like that.
EDIT: I also tend to do crazy low-flying shenanigans. I'm pretty sure I've seen an altitude of "0" a few times (When not ramming the ground). I'd be willing to bet that my average altitude is under 150 meters. I don't know if it helps with being detected or not, but it's certainly enjoyable. I've had at least one person crash trying to catch me.

Oh god that was so awesome. I just singlehandedly WON a game. Granted, it's late night my time so stupid early Eurotime, but still.
It was me in an F2F (Tier II) and another dude in a Tier II, vs a Tier I, a Tier II, and a Tier III. I'm an attack plane, so I start pestering shit on the ground. I see a plane start pestering me so I go in to attempt to hit him. My ally is also combating this guy and they end up ramming each other and exploding. At this point, the enemies have advantage, but only by one. So I remember I had one of their outposts down to almost dead so I finish it off and even things up.
Then I go and try to fight the Tier III guy, since the Tier I is nowhere to be found. I have 75 hp, this guy has 135. And a tail gun. He's also faster than me - Something he doesn't use - And can climb better - Something else he doesn't use. He tries to stay low to the ground and shake me that way, but... well, close to the ground is MY trick. I'm pinging him, pinging him, pinging him. His tail gun is occasionally hitting, but I stick on it. If I can get this guy, I can win. It'd put me at an advantage and then I'd just have to avoid the Tier I. I watch my health drop, watch his drop, watch mine drop, watch his drop. It's awesome because it was about the same percentage rate - The tail gun was having some issues because of his manuevers, but it was also there.
Then I manage to literally blow him out of the sky. I almost crashed after that I was so happy. Looking at my health, I also almost crashed. I'm at 6.
I then proceeded to just putter about and shoot at buildings mostly ineffectively until 100% advantage was obtained. At one point, I noticed the enemy Tier I just chilling out way up high. I tried to climb, but the F2F has a very limited climb angle, so since he was ignoring me I went back to ineffectively shooting buildings. Then advantage was obtained and I won.
It was awesome.
Also, I do have to say - Spectating in WoWp is much more entertaining than spectating in WoT.

And now I did. In the next four days a special is underway. Play enough games, and you'll get some gold in your WG account.

How realistic is the game? I kinda put IL2-sturmovik as the bare minimum of realism for any aircraft related games...
Healthbar is already a bad sign, but does the aircraft actually take some structural damage? Is it possible to destroy an aircraft by repeatedly shooting it into a landing wheel?

If you can actually hit someone's landing wheel that much they deserve to die. Aircraft (iirc, haven't played in a while) will suffer performance issues if, say, you shoot up one wing, or their tail. Don't remember if you can destroy specific parts with gunfire (but ramming someone will probably tear off your wing).

Well, difficult to say from your explanation. If you keep repeatedly shooting the plane into the tip of the wing, to the point that you make a hole in it, the aircraft still should not die, whether it deserves it or not.
Its good to see that you do get some structural damage, but the way IL2 does it is by each aircraft having something around 50-90 hitboxes for various stuff, without a general healthbar. You die not from running out of hull, but by being hit into vital places with correct caliber (i.e. 0.12mm machine guns won't shit against armoured fuel tanks, irrespective of how long you fire at it). And such things as seat armour for the pilot starts playing a huge role...

12mm you mean. That's a pretty serious machine gun. I wouldn't really trust a fuel tank to take such punishment for long.
Anyway. WoWP is free. Best to just try it

Actually meant to say 7.62mm (or rather 5.5, since thats 0.12") stupid conversion units. And its easier to ask imho, downloading the game only to delete it later is more of a waste of the time
