Re: The DoomXcom game >.>
Year 2014 : Back story :
Earth was ravaged by strange phenomena… Wormholes of various sizes would appear at seemingly random locations and, with a great devastation, take a chunk of the world out of existence… Or at least so it was thought initially… Months after it first began, these phenomena, besides bringing the now usual devastation, started to spout out what used to be taken before, sometimes in perfect condition, sometimes mauled and shredded to bits… Scientists saw hope in what looked like an end of the world… First robotic probes, then brave soldiers went into the wormholes, trying to bring back a glimpse of what was on the other side, if there was another side at all…
Little progress was made in the first year… Some people returned, with no memory of what happened, others were driven insane, trembling in fear and agony… The phenomena continued to progress, wormholes became larger, stayed active for longer… People desperately needed a solution, but for you it no longer matters, as you have already encountered one of them..
===========================================
Each character has 2 origin choices - accidental or taskforce :
Accidental :
You are one of the victims, unknowingly you were swallowed up by one of the wormholes... These things didn't care who they got, but its up to you to build your future now, if you have one at all..
No equipment provided.
You are able to allocate 20 stat points and HAVE to remove 5 stats points (i.e. you can go below default 10 points in any attribute).
(By default you start with 10/10/10/10, so you have +20 - 5 points on the base of it)
Taskforce:
You are one of the elites.. or the not so elites that they sent later... or one of those poor footstomps that were sent when things got really desperate. In any case you are here and now, now go sort it out private!.
You start with Glock, durability 34 and 10 rounds of .45mm. You also have light armour with damage capacity of 70.
You start with following attributes : S : 15 A : 10 I : 10 V : 12 and are able to allocate additional 3 points.
====================================================
In all cases all of you guys get thrown up inside a fairly large WW2 bunker (single room), with sighting slits filled with dirt and a closed door.
Sort out your backstories and attributes. I recon this game will start during the weekend.
P.S : A bit about the stats :
Strength - affects carrying capacity, will be required to heavier equipment, also slightly increases health
Agility - affects movement speed, improves accuracy, improves reflexes
Int - affects RP actions, results in better observations, improves reflexes.
Vitality - affects health, health regeneration, poison/etc tolerances.

Re: The DoomXcom game >.>
So as an accidental you get 15 points to spend basically? Cause you can add 5 points, then remove them.
Re: The DoomXcom game >.>
Well yeah, you get more flexibility though, as you are able to go below default 10. (base values for all attributes are 10).
Basically you can do something like 5/10/10/30

Re: The DoomXcom game >.>
I'll whip something up later tonight or tomorrow. Sorry, quite busy.
Re: The DoomXcom game >.>
Same here!
Re: The DoomXcom game >.>
Also quick note, depending on your back story you might get additional goodies or skills/actions (not necessarily ones described in the back story). Your back story will also influence interactions within the world (i.e. with NPCs /etc)
Re: The DoomXcom game >.>
Mr. Angelheart started his career as a simple soldier in the military. Before too long he was handpicked for a very special unit. Not because of his strength, which was nothing impressive by itself. Nor for his great vitality. No, he was picked for his great mind and agility. He became a Majestic Agent. It goes without saying that his further training was intense, and of course top secret. No one really knows what happened in the following years, but aged 26 he suddenly and very quietly had to leave the service. No official story ever came out, but unofficialy it was rumoured he had a forbidden love affair with a member of the Royal House.
Two years have passed since that time. In between Mr. Angelheart has mostly been on the road. Honing his senses and hunting the scum of the world for money with his deadly crossbow. His appearance is gruff: Dark clothing, dark short beard, uncombed curly hair and icy blue eyes. Eyes that have seen much.
All he remembers is being on the road, hunting yet another villain. While riding his bike, the world seemed to shift, and next he knew, he was in this strange place.
Accidental:
11 strength
16 agility
16 intelligence
12 vitality

Re: The DoomXcom game >.>
Pvt. Mori had just signed up for the military, or so they told him, when he was swept away along with his unit while on out on a basic training drill in a forest near his hometown.
To go along with his already patchy mind (he never was the brightest) he complemented the holes in his life's cassette with even more holes. He does not remember his father of whom he only heard his mother speak about fondly even though her demeanor always changes when she remembers he had not been around since Mori was 11. He did not remember the time around his mother dying when he was 16. He did not remember how he met Cassidy, his friend ever since he was 7. Needless to say, there are a lot of things he had to take for granted because simply there was no other way for him. He had to accept his reality, cause the alternative of rejecting everything he can trust because he doesn't know from where he can trust it was just too much for him.
He also did not remember how he had gained the loyal reputation he had amongst his fellow class of Privates. He does remember, however, the expression on each and everyone of their faces when he found them all dead around him, wherever the wormhole had taken him. And the place seemed like the forest he was in before, except of course for the impaled dead bodies of his mates, and his dear captain nowhere to be found.
And all he has is only a few weeks of basic training. He didn't even get to shoot a rifle yet... but he does have a drive for completion.
Strength - 11
Agility - 18
Intelligence - 7
Vitality - 19

Re: The DoomXcom game >.>
Allright, we can start
.
Day 1 :
Location : WW2 Bunker
Brief description : Old WW2 bunker. Only entrance is closed off by a fairy rusty door, there are some sighting slits, but they appear to be blocked by dirt. The only source of light is a glowstick left of the floor, it is getting dimmer by a minute.
<Whoever sees this first> is warped into the place ~20 minutes earlier than Mr. Angelheart. His clothes are a little worn off by the transition, but still hold quite well. He also finds some sort of bottle on the floor near him.
[You can request better descriptions of objects around you, or perform some actions, whatever seems reasonable, but do consider the situation]
P.S : I have changed the starting weapon for task force (after quite a lot of consideration balance-wise). I am happy if any of you will want to swap out for it (back stories fit both arrivals anyway).

Re: The DoomXcom game >.>
Mr. Angelheart wakes up in a strange room. For a short moment he is disorientated. Then it all comes crashing back to him. The trip on the road, the shifting of the world and then.. nothing until waking up. Looking around he notices he is in something that looks like a bunker. It is pretty dark. The only light in the room comes from a rapidly dimming glowstick. Mr. Angelheart finds shutters in the bunker and inspects them inspects them. He sees if he can clear the dirt of them. Failing that he will try to find a different possible light source. He also looks around the room for clues, possible usuable equipment, armor or weapons. For now he uses the glass bottle as a temporary weapon to protect himself from anything that might happen.
Re: The DoomXcom game >.>
(OOC: Nobody else wants to join? I'll whip something up tomorrow. Out tonight, sorries.)
Re: The DoomXcom game >.>
The bottle you used is ~200ml volume plastic bottle. It feels quite soft and has some contents inside. It is too dark for you to see around the bunker, only the central part of the bunker is lit by the glowstick. Attempting to clear the view slits only led to more dirt entering the building. You did however notice some items in the corners of the room, but are unable to distinguish them as it is too dark. You also have trouble identifying how to operate the entrance door as it is too dark to see. [I'll give this hint only once and never again. You can LIFT the glowstick and TAKE it around WITH you to light whatever you are looking at. Its not like I said that glowstick is glued to the floor now did I?
]
[Meme, you do not have to RP every statement, if you do not have much time, you can always just say the actions (unless its interaction with Solar, or something else, in which case RP is a must
)]
I do hope more people will join, but its not a big deal if they do it later down the line, I am sure some people got intimidated by all of the spreadsheet business that is going on here...

Re: The DoomXcom game >.>
Pvt. Mori suddenly wakes up from one of his now-patented trances. Go figure, he again doesn't know where the fuck he is.
Mori's just standing in a very dark room, the only light coming from a glowstick. He checks himself for injuries, clothing, equipment. He listens for a bit for any sounds that could be heard, he tries to scan the room with whatever light he can see that has bounced.
