Dunno if anyone is still interested - but facts trying to create a new alleg. using various open source components by the look of it.

No idea how far he's getting

May be interesting to watch if anything happens.

It's worth keeping an eye out. My money for a new alleg is a mod to Elite once it's out.

I zombied an old post of mine but in the interest of ringing my own clue bell I'll say it (just) here for the future

The Allegiance website was down a few days back and is down now... any information or clue what is going on?

I don't know, I saw something about someone switching something to a .zone tld but I tried a few obvious ones and nothing works.

Factoid has been updating the core game files into a cross platform C++11 shared library: https://github.com/Factoid/alleg-core/
As well as creating a client that reportedly ran on Ubuntu and Windows: https://github.com/Factoid/free-allegiance

It's a valiant effort, but I was pretty put off by the state of the code when I had a browse through. It's clearly been abused by a number of different developers over the years, and I don't have the time or the will to deal with that.

dunno. It was strange the outage wasn't mentioned on the forum ehilst it was backup.

Seems to be back up now.

I was speaking with xJammer on mumble, and it seems like there's another Allegiance 2 project.
He and a guy named Djole are working on it together, while phantom might help them in the future.

From what he explains, Factoid's work is based on the Allegiance code (so xJammer called it Allegiance 1.5), while their project is built from the ground up.
