How well can your computer run Planetside 2?

Here's some food for thought from the games own forums:

"The main unfortunate thing is that it's not your machine that's the problem here, it's the client.. Even when you are in game seeing those horrible framerates you can hop into the resource monitor and see your cpu usage at 30% or so. The engine has no idea how to use the full resources of your machine because it was created with 5 year old hardware in mind. Until they revamped the client completely to make it heavily multi-threaded people like you and I are never going to be able to get a decent experience out of this game"

For me it runs at about 30 fps with low graphics. A friend of mine overclocked his processor and got from 10 to 30 fps.

Mine is a fairly high end hyper threaded processor... but it's also one that is locked at 2.4 GHz... I just looked into the possibility of overclocking it :|

i run a core i5 at 3.4 ghz and it runs fine with max graphics at minimum 40 fps, mostly around 50-60.

Indeed FazzBumm, the problem is my core speeds are only 2.4 GHz, and it's locked on overclocking. If the game engine supported multiple cores properly, I'd have power to spare... but it doesn't so I'm stuck with ~20+ FPS.

I have an i7, which allows me to alt-tab and run spotify, skype, steam and mumble while playing PS2 :p. In my case, the limiting factor is the graphic card: NVidia GTS 250.

i7 is perfect for this badly programmed disaster. Apparently it's not even 64 bit, but 32. So very, very bad...

hopefully they optimize the game a bit in the future ... Also the netcode isnt brilliant. WIth my 1mb bandwith i always lag and sometimes people just appear close to me.

I run a 5 year old box, 2.4 q6600 I believe, 2 gigs of ram (hurting the most), decent video card with 1 gig of ram.
The main thing that hurts me is 'city fighting.' That drops me down to about 15 fps which really strains the eyes and is rather frustrating. I can do it for a limited time but if we are meat grinding it become unplayable.
Flying is okay, main thing is I have to restart my client about every hour or so, sucks losing in the middle of a good run like that.
Tanks I am rather well at. Forget the lightning, the vanguard is awesome. Solo or in a group, I seem to nearly always find a sweet spot with it.
As a lower end hardware gamer, Esamir > Amerish > Indar as far as framerate. I can work in any one of them, but Indar just seems to have too much variable terrain that adds stress.
That said, I can still get a nice 7 kill streak with just a modded SAW. It's a lot about finding your groove. I am thinking about looking for other low hardware players and just creating a 'range runner' operation. I find it frustrating when its 200 players cramming into a bio dome meat grinder and everyone is clueless, so why not edit the tactics?

When we going to really field our own team/squad i offer my experience with games like that.
I played Tactical Ops (bit like counterstrike, but on UT99 engine) for a couple of years in a really competitive Clan (we fought in international leagues and even won some prices). There should be alot of things i can bring in and tactics we can build and train. But first we need a squadgame - time for PS2 and enough active players (6+).
