Hi everyone, especially Abom, UK clocks changed this morning so the games are at 20:00 GMT not GMT+1

Hey Rav! I'm down to play. Does that mean the games are an hour earlier than normal? So in ~45 min?

'Dalf - might be a bit late; remodelling the garage and I've got a bit carried away with oversized mechano... just tidying up now, be on ASAP.

Shock turn around as The Mighty Undercheesers roll triple ones to fail handoff in endzone. Fables run ball the entire length of the pitch in turn 16 to win 1- 0.

This report will be shorter than the last due to apple whiskey being a pox upon this planet and my state of mind.

MATCH REPORT ABOM VS RAVEEN
13TH DOOMWHEEL VS. HAMBRIDGE ARCHERS

Image

Image
"Over here-here! No, over there-there! No ovER, AIGH---", Skanilla Ice, running in place before he falls, throwing the ball into the crowd

1st half
760? of inducements for Raveen. He takes a star treeman and Zara the Slayer, a STR 4 amazon with Stab.

Skaven choose to kick. Ball lands near the line of scrimmage. Due to some loner trickery on Zara the Slayer, she falls flat with the halflings not even having ball in hand.

Skaven form a loose cage around the ball. One of the 4 sides is always undefended but it's irrelevant given the halflings' slow movement (sans Zara). Rats start going down and Raveen uses some halflings to slow the advance but they're slowly being knocked around and it just becomes a manner of when to score.

Unfortunately... Moment of the game: Despite having the ball in a fairly workable cage, a skaven ball-carrier listens to his coach and runs in place, going for it twice in a row for some obscure strategic advantage. The ball falls off the pitch and is then thrown deep into the skaven's half, out of range for most skaven to reach without lots of GFIs.

Zara the Slayer promptly picks it up and scores after some rats desperately try to assault the STR 4 Star. 1-0 for the halflings! at around turn 4 or 5

Skaven have to score and... this time they do the same thing except without running in place. 1-1 score at halftime!

Image
Using special magicks, a few upcoming wizards were able to enhance their Campaigns for Real Arcanery (Camras) and imbed the spell into a treeman's eyes, allowing us to see here on Cabalvision for the first time just how the treants view rats. What a time we live in!

2nd half

Unfortunately, many rats have already gone down. Skaven enter the 2nd half with 8 or 9 players.

Skaven receive. Cage formed around nobody on the right side of the pitch. My thrower's suitably out of range for a turn or two.

3 gutters are in front of Zara! Rav laughs as he says I'll need at least 1 more gutter to get a 2-dice block. Thankfully, that's not what I was going for. Skaven 1-die push Zara to the right. A stormvermin with Dodge escapes from a Treeman, blitzes Zara off the pitch! This was probably the deciding factor of the 2nd half.

Skaven thrower runs up and the walls of rat advance up the right side, with halflings again thrown in the way. At one point, a gutter gets through, and the movement speed of the gutters combined with halflings now starting to get knocked out pretty much assures a 2-1. One halfling is left standing (other than the 3 trees) 2-1 for the skaven, entering the last turn of the game!

Rav's hope, which he said he was playing for, was to go for a Throw Teammate one-turner. Unfortunately, the ball was kicked deep into his pitch and his chance was denied. Game ends 2-1 for the Skaven, a worthy result from this new halfling team!

Post-game thoughts: The game handed me a score on a platter on basically turn 1 and I threw the platter against the wall, damaging some skaven backs in the process. It made for an interesting game though and halflings were poised to draw, and maybe even win! However, despite my poor coaching , the game bailed me out in the 2nd half with some lucky injuries on the halflings (many of which were self-inflicted. Poor AV6 stunties) and no double 1s on any important rolls. I also think it would have been closer if Rav had a wizard and some star halflings with Side Step instead of the Star Treeman.

Good game, Rav! :D Rav got a +MA halfling after the game, too, so that's going to open up a lot of doors in the future.

Elves score touchdowns whilst the orcs hit them...
Image

Orks get 650k of inducements, hire a couple of Dirty Players, a wizard and such. Weather is nice and kick-off rolls are bizzare, with the first half being almost all bonus re-rolls and the second half being almost all quick snaps (receiver can move every player a square).

Elves kick off. On orc turn 2 a Wardancer gets killed but apothecary turns it into badly hurt (ie, is back on the pitch). On Elf turn 2 they score.

Orks kick off and show their intention to damage by having all 11 players on the line of scrimmage! Forgetting to leave someone back to get to the ball contributes to the elves running past everyone and scoring on turn 4. Orks fail to inflict much in the way of damage.

Rest of the half, some damage does occur! Alan gets injured and will miss next game (and is now joint most injured player in RTBBL along with Gorgonzola) and a few other injuries go in, meanwhile the elves score again on turn 7 as the orcs focus single-mindedly on hitting elves. The poor goblin in the backfield doesn't really stand much of a chance against a couple of nimble elves. Some more hits go in but the half ends 3-0 and the elves are down to 11 fit players.

Second half... well... more of the same really. Orcs hit elves and ignore the ball, elves run away and score. I tried to stall a bit on occasions to avoid getting punched, but with mighty blow, piling on, block, tackle and dirty player everywhere I couldn't completely avoid it. Some stupid stuff happened near the end - my turn 14-ish ended on the first dice roll (failed dodge) leaving daigaro with some good possibilities to hurt me, but his first roll is a double red-skull. Then on his turn 16 I catch an interception (first one ever!) making it an easy turn 16 score. Eventually the orcs managed to inflict 6 injuries (1 of which was via a foul), the worst of which was a -1MV to my second-choice thrower. I may have to chuck him in. I got 3 players levelled up (all normal rolls) including Ernie reaching the hallowed grounds of "Super Star". 3 weeks off for the elves now to recover and to let the rest of the league catch up a bit (in terms of games played ofc :p).

Dice
My D6 were 11 better than the orcs. Feels about right. They're a talented bunch of players but more stuff than this usually goes wrong. I'm sure Daigaro would like me to note that all 3 KO'ed elf came straight back.... (according to BBM I had 7 players KO'ed so not sure how that worked, don't think I had 4 KO'ed at the end?).
The 2D6 felt pretty horrid for Daigaro and I was expecting a -20 chance but it was only -6.44 in the end. Given he made 48 (!!!) armour rolls though that's still probably a low-ish percentage chance. He had good injury rolls though. I got +13 but on the flip side my 5 armour breaks all resulted in stuns.
La managed to roll every side of the block dice almost equally (2 sides rolled 19 times, 3 rolled 18 and 1 rolled 17). I didn't go in for the block dice much but 5 red skulls out of 40 helped me out.

Another paragraph
Nuffle was definitely on my side in this game especially early on, hard for orks to come back from 2-0 but once it was 3-0 it was game over. I dunno if playing for the ball a bit more and at least trying to make it a challenge to score would've helped the orcs? As I had 3 spare players for this encounter it was unlikely numerical supremacy would be gained in a short timespan. But what do I know, I'm very much a newbie bashy coach.

I'll be honest dalf, I saw this game as an attempt at a 'league leveller'. It was highly likely that would outscore me so as opposed to limiting your strengths I tried to play to mine and tried to batter you off the pitch.

If the bloody wardancer would've stayed dead...

If the turn 8 brutality was turn 2 or 3...

All ifs and buts, less 6s and more 7s on the 2d6 and maybe it'd be different, not the match outcome but for everyone else in the title race, those elves are far too skilled!

Good game, well played squire.

Thought that might be the case... I've seen teams play like this against me but only when they are 2-0 or 3-0 down.... at least I should beat anyone on TD difference now :p

I continue to express surprise at how my elves stay alive. Particularly the Wardancer in question. He's suffered 8 injuries now and bounced back from them all without long term harm. Ernie's failed armour rolls 26 times and only been injured once (??!). I may have to retire two of my players after this but one was only ever a temporary player, the other being my second choice thrower, which I can get over. That's partly down to me hiding my better players when possible as the match progressed, and partly due to luck.

It was 8 rats at the start of the second half because the rock made it 10vs8. GG Abom, even if your Gutter Runners are blatantly cheating :P

Gutter runners are SWEET.

The only thing better is a two headed goblin. Or a Vampire.

"Oh yes, lets all celebrate over-powerfully statted players that make playing the game far too easy".

You lot should try having a Percy on your team.
