Graphs, charts etc.

Postby Gandalf » Sat Nov 21, 2015 9:53 am

Spinning off from the requests thread...

I'm starting to utilise google charts in the website. This thread is to discuss what graphs would be good where, offer feedback, suggestions etc.

I'm thinking the match report page could use some 100% bar charts, like you can see on BBC football reports... maybe not mapping ALL the stats, but 6 or 7... I'm thinking TD's, passes, knockdowns, casualties, possession, territory? Any others?

I'm sure there's other places graphs could be put, or new pages created for in-depth stats perhaps. The league table page Perhaps?

Any more suggestions?

BBM has a TV progression chart that would be good on the team page.

All sounding like it's coming along nicely...

I can't help in any way with programming and making the page do magic with numbers... but Percy has always been told he has an eye for design.

Like Rav mentioned about being able to upload a personal team logo, could we have an option there where you set your team's colours; so when the charts are generated your team's stats are displayed in your team's colour? Obviously each team would need away colours too in case of clashes.

Also, Robbie was asking if there's any chance of heat maps yet? (.......)

Also, if Percy gets chance he'd like to mock up some screens of what he thinks BBDB could look like in terms of layouts for reports, etc.

But copying the BBC website wouldn't be a bad place to start.

Not sure if I store that info... I'll have a check.

Sure, in the dim & distant future as per my response to Rav's request.

Also, Robbie was asking if there's any chance of heat maps yet? (.......)

I assumed this wasn't a serious request? The information regarding where players are on the pitch is not and cannot be tracked by the files provided by Cyanide.

90%+ of the data I am storing is currently available on the website... so requests based on data you can already see is much more likely to be doable in the short term. :)

Oh, and I ahve put some 100% bar charts on the match report pages now - have a look & let me know what you think!

Thinking about this, team colours are presumably in the replay files somewhere so could be extracted for the graphs. You could default to red/blue in the case of the same colour being used.
