Blood Bowl 2
I've been a very lucky little boy and got Blood Bowl 2 for my birthday. Has anyone else taken the plunge and do they fancy a game?
Re: Blood Bowl 2
No - maybe when it is probably going to be on offer at Christmas... but a review would be nice. Have they implemented skills properly (ie you get the choice regarding whether to use the skill or not AFTER the dice roll... particularly relevant when it comes to Break Tackle).

Re: Blood Bowl 2
Well I have read a lot of negative that is not balanced out enough by the positive for me. However - there have been two patches in the last week, so that's pretty good. I was getting more and more swayed and then saw that apparently the Wood Elf DLC for xbox is nearly £6. If that suggests other teams will be similarly priced - goodness me.
So I think I am going to wait for a sale too, but may be swayed if there is a good deal of community-responsive patching - and how quick Underworld or Vampires come out...
And happy birthday, that must mean, Rav

Re: Blood Bowl 2
I really want it to be Good; but I don't think it will be for a while.
I'm also rather outraged at the DLC model for teams... That means the game could cost over 100 quid if you want all the teams!!!?
Also, I don't think my laptop will run it.
I do really fancy giving Bretonnians a try, and in the interests of research Percy needs to play it too.
Like the others I'll probably have to wait for a sale.
I did notice that Black Orcs have block as a basic skill now... Odd.

Re: Blood Bowl 2
This isn't a review but I suppose it's the start of one...
I had a quick play on BB2 last night before getting distracted by the Amazons / Orcs game.
First impressions.
The game menu screen is nice. It's an animated scene of Jim and Bob sitting at their desk with menue options on the right. Settings wise you can set the controls to BB1 or BB2 (BB2 involves a different combination of right and left clicks and confused me). You can set the camera to BB1 or 2 (2 is side to side, 1 is the Esc view we get in BB1). There are the usual sound and graphics options.
The screen is nice but mostly just different, the menu was one of the bits of BB1 where the UI wasn't a problem tbh.
The Campaign.
I wanted to play a bit so I started the campaign. If you've played BB1 this is probably not a good thing to do. It launches into a load of Jim and Bob spiel about how the Reikland Reavers aren't as good as they used to be and then drops you into a game where you receive and then have to score 1 touchdown.
"Fine" I thought and collected the ball, passed it to a catcher and caged up just over the half way line. I didn't notice until a turn later that blocking is a bit peculiar. When you make a block you automatically knock down the other player but don't follow up. So my cage got stuck. I could knock down the AI players but not move up the pitch.
Once I realised that it was easy to make a move that scored the required TD.
The game plays fine. I haven't figured out if there's a grid available. I like the way it displays tacklezones (a square has +1, +2 etc. based on the number of TZs on it) and the way it displays the odds (as a %age) of reaching a square, be that on a GFI or Dodge.

Re: Blood Bowl 2
I hate most everything I've seen about BB2. I'd go into it but we've all done our resarch and found it lacking. I suppose I'll be ignoring it for a year or 2 until it goes on sale and has seen a few patches.
Re: Blood Bowl 2
This popped up on my FB feed.
No idea on the site (or whether it's legit etc.)
Dunno if anyones interested BB2 for 20 quid

I'm saving money at the minute in case i need to replace anything to get my desktop working again

Re: Blood Bowl 2
There was a Reddit question and answer thing about BB2.
https://www.reddit.com/r/bloodbowl/comm ... d_answers/
For me the highlight is
The servers for BB1 will be availiable for lots more time to come, but it's unlikely more content will be added to the game. All focus is on BB2 now, and making that as great as it can possibly be.
Suggesting at least that we don't need to swap to BB2 for a while yet.
However, the low points were a lack of real plan about DLC, or definite answers for some very good questions, or plans about fixing things.
They did suggest Slann are going to be added though, which will please some people.

Re: Blood Bowl 2
Totally happy about the two extra teams; totally happy about supporting servers for the forseeable future, not so happy about the DLC and lack of fixing.
Truthfully none of us are going to buy it until it's in a Steam mega-sale with a fair whack of new teams added all for 75% off are we?

Re: Blood Bowl 2
OK Ive £30 steam vouchers I had for XMas.
BB2 is on sale at £17.50
Worth it? Or worth waiting for it to drop more
(if not suggestions for what to keep an eye on may be appreciated)
P.S. I guess what I'm asking is if the Single Player Blood bowl 2 experience is a worthwhile play.

Re: Blood Bowl 2
I've not played enough to really make a call to be honest. There are more teams now but still not as many as LE/CE.
£17.50 isn't a bad price though, but it's not essential IMO.
