Claim your exploits!

Postby Andon » Thu Oct 22, 2015 2:45 am

What's some of the most fun/ridiculous/etc things you've done?

Right now, I'm feeling pretty happy because I just killed a Python in a combat zone in an Imperial Eagle. Two size 1 pulse lasers and a top mounted multicannon... Plus a few various upgrades.

Shields never went down, although they were close quite a few times. Need to get a shield charger on that thing...

I encountered my first T Tauri star (a system with a superjovian gas giant, and two of these proto-stars with their planetary accretion discs). I was discussing the system with Spyball, turned the ship to avoid hitting one of the stars after scanning it, and opened the system map to see the expanded description. Suddenly emergency stop jolted me back into the cockpit, as I hadn't turned enough, and had hit the accretion disc afterall.

At least it made for a nice photo opportunity.

Is that your drop ship? How are you finding it?

*rimshot!*

Very good.

I meant to ask if any one has tried the Asp Scout? I quite like the Diamondback Scout, but find it's not quite as versatile as I'd like. Considering settings it up for exploration/smuggling and having an Asp Scout for my more combat-based activities. Was looking at ships and discovered the Asp Scout has been added. Any other ships I might have missed/overlooked?

For combat take a vulture. Failing that a viper mk 4 might be good but to be honest I have an a rated clipper.

Hi id3ntity, sorry about the late reply.

I really like the Dropship, but it's somewhat getting the short end of the stick by FD balancing. It flies a little like an Allegiance Gunship (or an Alleg bomber if you don't have A-rated thrusters). The firepower is good but not amazing. I have a large plasma accelerator, two fixed medium beam lasers and gimbaled medium cannons. It has gigantic hull mass, but it doesn't have the hitpoints one would expect to come from that.

It like it a lot, and I use it as a combat ship, but it needed a huge pile of credits to equip and really only came to it's own once everything is A-rated.

PvP players prefer the Federal Assault Ship, which is basically a Fed version of the Imp Clipper. Just as stupidly fast, with the bonus that it can land on medium pads. A slower and heavier option also exists in the Federal Gunship, which has a fighter bay and adds 2 small hard points on the nose.

The Clipper is a similar beast. It's a bit of a pig without A rating everything in sight and it's also a bit weak without A7 shields. It's a joy with them though and I don't really hanker after anything else, although I was using an Asp Explorer for my Smuggling and that was nice (but it got stripped down to pay for the A7 shields :) ).

Cheers guys, some stuff to think about there.

Still not sure what I'm actually up to in Elite. I'm enjoying pootling around in my SRV though.

Have you guys pledged to a Power?

I'm boycotting powerplay as I don't like how it's been set up. If I did pledge it would be for Winters.

I don't understand PP so I'm sticking to what I know. I'll happily do some minor faction stuff.

Oh good, I'm glad I'm not the only one who doesn't have a clue!

Intrigued by this Engineers business, especially if it relates to the SRV resource gathering game.

I hate that you become an outlaw everywhere outside your power's reach. That makes no sense.
