Pre-season 9 thread

Postby id3nt1ty » Thu Mar 24, 2016 4:05 pm

I'm thinking either Chaos or Khemri at the moment.

Happy to stick as Commissioner for now, it's not like you have to do a lot once you've figured out the schedule, as long as you lot behave yourself.

Nurgle first choice
Norse 2nd choice

No way can I do two Ogre seasons in a row. Now and then it's nice to play with a team who do what you tell them to.

I am interested in Nurgle too.

I am also interested in Skaven, Underworld, and Vampires.

Chaos Dwarves, Amazons, some other race we haven't covered on the Trollcast yet.

Duckz.

Although NJ does have a trump card to play if he fancies doing his Orcs again.

What would I play instead? Hmm. Not really sure. Necro could be fun - Wolves and expendable zombies. Hmm. I would REALLY like to play Chaos Pact; but I can't. Boo.

Khorne? Bloodthirster? Frenzy? Oh I don't know.

To be fair I reckon Red Lion gets dibs on first pick of ANYTHING because every team he wanted to play last season was already taken.

+1 to this!

As long as he picks one in good time, so the rest of us can sort out who we are playing.

I see what you're saying... He should get a reward for picking the objectively best team this season... I agree.

That's nice of you DO/WG/La.

After their glorious march towards the wooden spoon - the likely decider to be played with Abom tonight - the Underworld may be in need of a bit of a well-deserved rest. If Moose wants to change team, I'd like to bring out the now-possibly-oh-so-aptly-named "Revenge of Last Plaice" Aquatic Undead; Rimmermaid is keen to get his major - and I mean major - leaflet campaign underway.

If Moose wants to keep his Undead team, I'd like to start a new Human team.

Much respect Abom for going with Goblins for a second season! I think it's true of most teams though, that the second season is more enjoyable than the first, as you've got a fair few level-ups to be going on with.

Can I suggest a rules change for next season?

It's to do with tie-breakers in the league where the teams have the same number of points. Currently we do TD difference. What I've seen in some places is that the tie-breaker is TD difference + (0.5 * casualty difference). Casualty rates are roughly half touchdown rates so it seems to make sense to me, the current system does seem to favour high-scoring teams, when some teams simply aren't high-scoring but are hard-hitting.

Obviously we would need to ask the BBDB development team to make a change but I'm sure they can fit that in before next season starts, if we want to go that way.

Where is it written in stone that it's TD difference for ties?

The commissioners, past and present, both told Percy it was casualties that decide ties.

I think this is an in-character post rather than a serious comment, but in case it's the latter... I'm pretty sure BB Manager worked this way, so I just made BBDB work the same. You can see from the current league table that the three-way tie for 2nd is decided by TD difference currently.

Ho ho ho, G chose to ASSUME, we all know what that makes...

But we haven't actually ever had to decide what decides a tie before have we... So Percy does have a point.

I'd blame to chaps in charge myself.
