Was a fun game. At least in comparison to playing the Ogres. La is definitely a better Vampire coach than I am a Nurgle coach. I rolled the block dice seventy-four times!!!

Rav - I'm due to play you next week. If you're free during the week and neither of your first two opponents are available, then I will (possibly) be available to play if you want to/feel you need to to catch up.

Well the Isotopes got stomped all over by the Yo Mama's So Fat, who took the game 2-1.

The injury dice really did me in I think, as I lost four players in the first half, and then finished the game with only three or four on the pitch. Outnumbered, and not getting the armour breaks I needed, there was nothing I could do to stop Idanmel's impeccable drive down the pitch.

So... I’ll attempt a quick match report, which I expect will be full of inaccuracy and vagueness, as I was tired and in the throes of a horrible headache all night.

First half – with their induced Dirty Player rotter on the bench, the Nurgle receive and the Vampires kick midleft. The Nurgles pick it up (with the vampires picking up an additional reroll at kickoff) and commence their trundle downfield. I think the vampires knock it loose once, but then I do some bloodlust timing whoops and a vampire leaves the pitch. Next turn the Nurgles knock another one out, and it looks bleak. I think I ended the half with one vampire on the pitch?

Anyway, a Nurgle picks the ball back up, and then the half cage is breached! A thrall knocks the ball loose! Eventually something happens and Socrates picks the ball up and runs away with it. The Nurgles can’t get it off him because they are baffled by his intricate blodge sidestep ST4 philosophical stylings, and the turn ends 0-0 after he fails a GFI on the way to a pass to a thrall in the Nurgle endzone.

Second half – and it is still heavily raining – the Vampires receive and push down the left, but get stodged up. Socrates has the ball and switches to the left: slowly, but not as slowly as the Nurgles. He gets marked, and uses a reroll to blitz himself free, but then stupidly does a second GFI and the ball goes loose.

And then I’m not sure quite what happened but it was a goal!

The Nurgles receive then with 3 OH NO IT’S A RIOT, SERIOUSLY REF WHAT THE HELL 4 turns to equalise. The Vampires kick deepish, a pestigor goes down each flank, the Vampires fail 3/3 KO rolls (Aristotle rolled a 1) and are down to 8 players.

The two Vampires mark or knock over the potential pestigor receivers and first Gherkin the Thrall stuns himself and the AG4 rotter down and then when the other rotter gets the ball another Thrall manages to mark him up. This makes the dodge-longbomb-catch too much without a reroll, and the game ends 1-0.

It could have gone either way, I think - the Vampires could have scored in both halves if things had gone differently, and so could the Nurgles, really.

Impressive lack of inaccuracies!!
And then I’m not sure quite what happened but it was a goal!

I'll fill this bit in. The ball was at the feet of my AG4 sure hands guy, who failed to pick it up (8/9 chance of success). A vampire gets up, then gets hit 3 times but can't get him over (I knew the lack of tackle on my team would be a pain, and so it proved), he dodged clear and did a short pass to the other vampire standing in the endzone.

Re: the last play, Chance of me scoring in the last play was reduced by AG4 sure hands guy AGAIN failing to pick it up, and an AG3 dodge with dodge failing (yeah, I failed 3 8/9 chances in a row). La definitely had the better dice second half, I think the crucial part was the first half when I had the better dice but didn't manage to score from it. He's a better Vampire coach than I am a Nurgle coach.

La injured a nurgle warrior who will miss next game, I badly hurt a couple of thralls. Both my Warriors who were at level 2 are now at level 3, yay. Also a big-up to my +AV nurgle warrior who survived a hit only because he had armour 10. It doesn't happen often so I feel I should flag it up when it does. +AV has its uses :) Giving it to an AV9 guy is one of the best times to give +AV IMO, assuming no MB it halves the chance of failing AV rolls.

No Stable Isotopes strike again!

The final score was 2-1 to the Underworld, but it given that nearly two fifths of la's D6 were ones it's not hugely surprising. la played well, putting up a good resistance as the Isotopes scurried up the pitch. I got a lot of fortunate block dice though, and soon both Socrates and Plato were off the pitch. They initially thought dead, but it's apparently hard to tell with Vampires and it was later determined that they were both just having a rest. Despite there being two vampires missing, la still managed to break the ball free in the sixth or seventh turn and it would have ended in disaster for the Isotopes if Nuffle had given la anything but ones. The half ended 1-0 to the Isotopes.

The second half opened with The Cheeseosophers making an excellent push down the Isotopes exposed flank, passing the ball about and running around in an excellent demonstration of the expansive and fast flowing game we love. The Isotopes responded by putting pressure on the vampires to score, and despite more failed blood-lusts score they did.

la kicked off and eager to make the most of the remaining turns I made an aggressive push up the left flank. la didn't fall for it though, instead attacking and knocking down my ball carrier who I had left slightly exposed. Nuffle screwed la once more though, preventing him from picking up the ball and giving the Isotopes time to extract themselves from their over ambitious attack. To add insult to injury, Nuffle blessed me with defender downs when I needed them and I was able to (finally) badly hurt Aristotle off the pitch and kill Pythagoras. la on the other hand was plagued by double skulls and pushes, allowing the Isotopes to finish the game 2-1.

Thanks for playing la, I'm sorry Nuffle wasn't kind to you tonight. Sorry for all the deaths too!

Good lord... those dice.... wow.... just, all of them....

I'm sure if la could choose one game to lose this season, it would've been this one :) Congrats to the unstable isotopes!

Yes… this was easily my worst ever match since my 100th competitive underworld match last week.

Aristotle rolled 8 ones out of 21 dice. He is useless (he rolled 6 1s in 18 dice against the Nurgle!). He levelled up though, so I gave him Pro – half out of a sense of irony and half so that he can reroll dice and get more ones.

More than a fifth of my d6 have been ones so far this season!

Minor correction to the match report – I got the ball on id’s second half drive, and got to one turn of the end zone with it, but failed a GFI and so left the ST4 block dodge ballcarrier open. Taking this GFI (or the gratuitous pointless block earlier in the game wasting a reroll that would have made the GFI not a mistake) was the only mistake I can remember making.

Still, id plays his team well, which is nice to see, I have to say.

An incredible match by the looks of things.

Abom, are you available for midweek games, like say, tonight? Or possibly tomorrow night? UK obvs, can be flexible around start time if it's possible; otherwise maybe a double header on Sunday or we just wait until catch up week?

Waveen - I'll wait for thee to post that the kiddies are sleeping before arranging anything.

What's more, I then went and performed something like two dodges and five GFIs to get a two-die blitz on the ball carrier, rolled the defender down that I needed AND picked up the ball and ran off :-\ If la had succeeded the GFI or I had failed a roll the score would have been reversed.

Surely the most shocking statistic of the game is that la ran out of time once and id ran out of time 5 times.

As id says, he learned from the best :D
