We have a potential poorly situation here so I'll see how we go. Papa Nurgle is a regular visitor these days.

It's those darn tentacles, it's so hard to get away from Papa Nurgle when he visits.

Well, the Isotopes still remember how to play Blood Bowl and took the game 2-0 despite losing both their Blitzers in the second half.

Red Lion bought an extra player so the teams only differed by 10,000 TV. He also won the toss and chose to kick first. I decided to try and take my time driving up the pitch, focusing Ghouls with my blitzes where I got the chance. Red Lion defended well, but eventually got a bit out stretched and lost a player or two to boot which always makes defending difficult. A Skaven Thrower managed to run the ball past the Undead lines and began stalling around turn five. Red Lion wisely set about ganging up on my more valuable players, forcing me to score in turn 6 after he KO'd a Blitzer.

My kick to Red Lion landed off the pitch, so he handed it to a well placed Ghoul who scampered down the slightly clearer flank. The rest of the Undead swamped the Underworld, but weren't quite able to prevent a two-dice block on Red Lion's Ghoul. Fortunately for him I was out of rerolls and only managed to push the Ghoul back a square. Unfortunately for Red Lion his Blitzer-clearing Mummy double oned a GFI and the half ended 1-0 to the Underworld.

I started the second half with a very short kick to Red Lion's right flank. The Undead collected the ball, caged up and then ran a Wight down the left flank. dubnium the Troll waded in and started to make his way into the cage, whilst the rest of the Isotopes spread themselves out to cover the rest of the field and avoid unnecessary blocks. With a Warpstone Troll bearing down on them, Red Lion's cage broke up and scattered down the left flank, but his ball carrier got a bit too exposed and got blitzed leaving the ball free to be picked up by my Blitzer. We had a bit of running scrum after that, which is a bit hazy. Red Lion put excellent pressure on my ball carrier and I had to think hard and make use of two-headed and +AG goblins to get him free. It ended in calamity for my Blitzer though, as I accidentally left him exposed to a blitz from a Mummy which KO'd him and scattered the ball out of my lose cage. A Ghoul and some Skeletons swept in to claim the ball, but couldn't quite break free of all the Goblins. Some more lucky dodging and I think a Skaven Thrower managed to free the ball, allowing it to be picked up by a Goblin who then high-tailed it up the pitch. Red Lion made a last-ditch attempt to stop me scoring, but only rolled pushes. A quick dodge later and it was 2-0 at full time.

Over all you played well Red Lion, my only comment would be that you had a tendency to leave your ball carriers more exposed than they needed to be. Nuffle also favored me with a higher than average amount of defender down's which also didn't help you out. Thanks for the game :)

Yes! Thank you for the game, it was fun. I think it could have been 1-1 had things gone differently. The claw was a real pain.

Yes, I agree. It very nearly was.

Just... so much incompetence.

1-1 to the Khorne, doing away with both teams' hopes for the title.

Nurgle destroy opposition team in 2-0 victory, taking them top of the league going into the final weekend

http://gandalfgames.net/bbdb/matchdetai ... tch_id=229

Classic Nurgle... hit the opposition an awful lot, and this time my luck was in with the 2D6's as I inflicted 7 casualties. With so many people on the floor the underworld didn't have much of a chance, but their dice were abysmal in any case, plus the Wizard rolled a 1 on turn 1. I received in the first half and scored once everyone was lying down on/off the pitch in turn 8, and in the second half the underworld briefly advanced into my half but got splattered, I even had time to offload the ball to a preferred scorer before scoring in t16, again with everyone lying down. I tried to injure the block/claw/mb blitzer with fouls a few times, but failed.

The underworld had to make 58 armour rolls!!

Amazon vs Norse was interesting. First half saw me receive and make a fairly standard 4 turn drive up the pitch to score. Idan then did much the same although I was able to put pressure on the ball forcing a pass and dodge touchdown.

1-1 at half time.

The second half started 10vs 10 I think. I kicked and idan moved his players down for the option of receiving. I surfed and injured then but was losing players too. In the end I was able to turn over the ball and make a break for it but I didn't have enough players or the mobility of the Amazons to get it home. We ended up with 5 Amazons against 6 Norse. Lots of fun, final score 1-1

With the Underworld loss, it seems the Punch Dummies have been demoted to 2nd place in the Punching Bags category, although at least they have a tentative grip on the Favourites of the Hospital Staff category.

Match Report (important moments, scores, and [un]lucky stuff in bold)
Undead vs Gobbos
First Half
Undead receive and the ball is kicked right to the line of scrimmage. They choose to play less bashy, putting zombies and not their mummies on the frontlines. Thankfully, the ball is caught by a pretty badass zombie who must have played Amerikon Football in a distant past life. He hands it off to a ghoul after the front lines knock some gobbos over.

There's some posturing and few blocks thrown for the first turn or two. At one point a bombardier throws a bomb at a mummy who catches it and throws it at some goblins, knocking them down. Some gobbos are knocked out and Skeleton King the Troll does down really early (losing 1 MV in the process :( )

Prolly around turn 3 or 4, the Undead make their move down what is the left side of the pitch for me. Their cage is pretty secure and although the goblins had like 2-3 gobbos ready to try to slow down his scoring, it's looking bad.

Then more goblins go down and RL3 starts only bothering with half-cages... understandable, given ST2 goblins and the fact that the gobbos were down to like 5 players already. it was pretty clear that scoring was going to be almost inevitable for the Undead. The coach considers just giving up the score and focusing on a TTM attempt + the 2nd half. Pudge the Troll gives him and the team a mean look however, saying: "don't give up!"

Image
"Don't give up, Coach!"

The goblins instead respond with their own desperate move, sending an AV6 gobbo with Strip Ball for a 2dice-block-against on their ball-carrier ghoul without Sure Hands. The results were a pretty lucky Pushed and Both Down. This goblin had sidestepped into the enemy's cage Now, either RL3 didn't notice the gobbo had Strip Ball, didn't want to risk injuring their ghoul, or didn't think the gobbos would have the gumption to do what they did next... for the Undead elect Pushed, knocking the ball out of the ghoul's hands. Then, in a show of brass balls, a brave goblin dodges in and picks up the ball with a reroll.

He's able to make it far enough to hand it off to an out of the way goblin (this goblin was actually only deep in the opposing side of the pitch because their coach forgot he existed for a turn or two...)

Image
"Why have you forgotten about me, coach?" cried Crystal Maiden or some other Punch Dummy, here pictured in their Sunday-wear.

The rest of the half has the Undead scrambling to defend and the gobbos failing to score, altho denying the Undead their score.

0-0 at halftime.

Now, the goblins receive, still having 11 players despite all the KOs and the sent off Looney and Bombardier. They field their Ball and Chain, who doesn't have a good first turn. Thankfully, this was to be expected, so Pudge the Troll and some random goblins are there covering him to ensure he doesn't go down right away. Gobbos get the ball in the back half of the pitch and send 2 Diving Catch Sure Feet stars to the opposing half of the pitch via the sides, hoping for a running play.

Undead throw some blocks but the Fanatic and Troll's Guard do good work. The Undead also cover the side-gobbos. The Ball and Chain and Troll, combined with some gobbos put up a loose although proper cage at the line of scrimmage (back half uncovered, but too many goblins in the way for anyone to get there)

A moment arises on like turn 3 or 4: The Punch Dummies have spotted that their side running gobbos each have 2 undead marking them and the rest of the Undead have risen to the challenge of bashing the mass of green in the way of the open, back half of the cage. They view this as an overcommitment, and plan to just move their cage completely out of the way of the action with the aid of Stunty. There's prob gonna be like 10+ dodges required for that and so... in what might be one of the most successful bashing turns for the Punch Dummies ever, the Ball and Chain turns into a lean, mean mummy-clearing machine. Pudge knocks down a zombie. A goblin knocks down another zombie. I think another goblin might've even blitzed someone.

Their efforts turn 10+ dodges into like 2 dodges. The cage moves over easily.......... until someone trips over themselves, leaving an opening.

Thankfully, the open cage is so far out of the way that no one can really reach it except for a ghoul and a wight. The wight dodges next to the gobbo and tries to knock him down using a 1 die block + RR! The wight falls down a bit lucky for me)

The gobbos are open to score... but attempt to delay. They form a loose cage to try to delay. The last part of the cage just needs a gobbo to do 2 GFIs. The gobbo heads over........... and fails on his 2nd GFI (after using a reroll on the first. very unlucky.)

Some wights/ghouls/etc. finally break free of the bashfest near the center as the Undead rush towards the ball. A ghoul tries to knock over the ball carrier but again fails despite 2 dice block. The gobbos go ahead and score, scared of the masses of Undead coming their way. 1-0 for the gobbos

The Undead now have 3 turns to score. The goblins all rise from their KO status, allowing for 11 players. With such little time, and a gobbo defensive formation the Undead feel the pressure and don't cage up their ghoul, leaving him open to be surrounded. The next 3 turns can be summarized as gobbos abusing Stunty to ignore tackle zones and just putting an ungodly amount of tackle zones and whatnot on the ghoul. The game ends as Pudge shouts to the heavens "not in my town." distracting a desperate wight passing play as a wight picks up the ball on a natural 6 then hands it right over to the goblin next to him.

Final score: 1-0 for the goblins!

===========================================================================================

Good game, RL3! I get the feeling you were none too amused by strip ball, side step, and stunty, though. :( I think if you had caged a little more securely, the game would have been 1-1. I'll be rooting for you in your next game as the Revenge of Last Place deserves at least one win, a wooden spoon, or a well-cooked flatfish.

The Punch Dummies face off against the Nurgle next week, in the hopes of securing their middle of the table position and giving the vampires a chance for 1st place.

Yeah... I should've said... it wasn't just the injury dice finally coming good for me, but in fact every category of dice was clearly in my favour. So many defender downs.

It was just one of those games.

Anyway, I'm calling for a bounty on No Entry. What a pain in the ass that guy is.

Also, I'm calling for a bounty on the blood routing algorithm, which decided it would be a great idea to make my +AG, Big Hand gobbo make a tentacles roll when there was a perfectly safe alternative route to pick up the ball.
