The computer strategy can be a bit odd... such a trying to use the Khorne big guy as a wide receiver, going long

This is amusing given how Morg played in your match :D

The thing about getting pummelled in your first game and it being a friendly is that you have the option to trash the team and roll a new one, if you feel so inclined.

If you want practice vs a human then you can play int he Auld League, there's often players around willing to play.

Re: moving cages with slow unskilled ST3 players... I have very little experience of this so am ill-qualified to answer. Is this BB tactics page any good? I only get a 2-line description as it's blocked at work, but it does mention dwarves in those 2 lines.

THe BBTactics article is good.

For me it's a case of using the rest of your team to clear space for the cage. Your Trollslayers in particular are good at moving the opposition about so they should be in front of the cage clearing space. Also, if a corner is marked you're ok as long as you knock the marker down. It's only people on their feet that you have to be wary of.

In the first drive I cleared a channel by turning the LOS and freeing up the sidelines. Once that was done I could form most of a cage by running players into the space.

Also don't forget that the cage doesn't have to be the same 4 corners each turn. You can clear space with a forward and then run the cage up to them if one of your corners is marked.

That all works well with Underworld so you could check out Percy's YouTube Channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCWNQT9 ... 7TKF4UT_jQ to see how I've been doing it on FUMBBL. Also you could try watching cKnoor on YouTube, his commentary is really good for explaining why he does stuff - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCSUFDI ... L6kXdd3tnA

Down the line get Guard. It'll make the blocking game work (although you did a really good job getting 2D blocks even in the face of massed Guard) and makes blocking the ball a much harder prospect as you'll be getting assists. Stand Firm is good too because you then won't lose the corners of the cage to pushes and the ball won't be exposed as often.

Also, I think I got a disproportionate number of casualties - I only have 2 MB and no Claw or PO. The Rock-Knockers are a great team but they're all about control and positioning rather than killing (that's the next bit of development :) ).

Thanks both of you.

Yes, WG, that is ironic! Though one was a play mode of desperation, while the other was a desperate mode of play.

Crikey Rav, you're team isn't killy yet? In 5 games against the Rock-knockers, admittedly mostly with 'Zons, I've lost 3 players to dead and plenty to injury. But its true you haven't got claw yet... when you get it, let me know and you can finish the remaining dwarves off!

I think I'd like to play the next few friendlies with a re-booted dwarf team against some lower-TV teams. Its fun playing friendlies against the Everglade Wanderers, Its a Sign, Whatever-the-Ogres-Are-Called and the Rock-Knockers but generally these teams both win and gain far more in terms of skill-ups and SPP than my team. (Morg yesterday played a stormer. But over 5 games my scoring ratio against the Rock-Knockers is 1-9!!!) Does anyone want a low-TV friendly match-up next Sunday?

They're Team Shrek! I thought they were one of the most obvious team names to remember :) It's not very obvious to them, they're such a bunch of halfwits it has to be emblazoned all over their changing rooms, so they remember which team is theirs.

Crikey Rav, you're team isn't killy yet?
Looking up the averages per game on BBDB, they're 7th in terms of average casualties caused, so not at the top yet. They are however 3rd for knockdowns, so they are pretty good at knocking people over. The difference between knockdowns and casualties is just luck, mighty blow and piling on, which is why the Orges are top as they all start with mighty blow (but they still sustain more casualties than the dish out :)). Long term I can see the Rock Knockers or It's A Sign take that spot.

I think I'd like to play the next few friendlies with a re-booted dwarf team against some lower-TV teams.

Understandable for sure. I'm on holidays this Sunday but I'm sure someone will be up to play with you.

On that topic, I'd like to play the Sunday after (14th August), I'm up for any game, be that one of my high TV teams (Ogres, Nurgle, Wood Elves) or one of my newer ones (Norse, Human). Preferably against a non-goblin team, for variety's sake.

But over 5 games my scoring ratio against the Rock-Knockers is 1-9!!!
[/quote]If it makes you feel better, they do have the 3rd best defence in BBDB. :) And obviously, the amazons are always going to struggle against (C)Dwarf teams.

Tell you what, I'll roll up a new team this week and you can play the Caer Banning Beasts, unless Abom wants to play you.

I quite fancy this being a Beastmen team so I'll get a Mino and as many Beastmen add I can afford.

Okay, great - unless Abom was hoping for a game? I don't really mind who I play against.

(I hope I didn't come across as complaining about any previous friendlies. That certainly wasn't my intention; they've all been enjoyable and played in a good spirit. I'd just like to properly develop a non-Amazon team!)

"The Flowering Confidence" have left the garden centre, and come out ready to deal with the Beastmen rumoured to be damaging petals on the plains.

(Assuming you're still ok for a game tonight Rav?)

Gandalf summed our bout up nicely! Was a crazy game.

It also gave me a bit of a long-term revelation: since I love making crazy plays *and* I love throwing goblins *and* I love double-GFIing on the fanatic *and* I have a bombardier... I should probably take at least a 4th re-roll on the goblins. Or maybe throw caution to the wind and get even more.

I don't think I've got a game scheduled for today... but in case I do, just mentioning that I won't make it, taking this Sunday off to run errands!

I'm back from waiting in queues in Norfolk and ready for a game this Sunday, if anyone is up for one? I'll play any of my teams.

I would also be up for a game, if there is a fourth interested party?

I think I'd rather play RL3 rather than Abom, for a bit of variety, as my last match was vs Abom. If that's OK.

That's fine, I was actually about to recommend that.
