Re: Post season-9 friendlies
Showed up a bit late, about 13 min after starting time. No one was on! Stayed around for 30. Till next week!
Re: Post season-9 friendlies
To be fair no-one said they were available
I should be up for a game next Sunday.

I won't be available for a game tomorrow as we have a guest staying. Should hopefully be available next Sunday.

Re: Post season-9 friendlies
I hope to make it later today but am extremely tired and might be busy.
As a general rule, I'm usually there somewhere 15 min before or after game start. Any more than that and you can be practically assured I won't make it!

I am available today, but it really isn't my turn if Abom wants a game. Quite happy to sit out and watch DVDs if so :-D

Re: Post season-9 friendlies
Will be unavailable today. Gonna go play some Dark Sun (D&D) with a friend.

Re: Post season-9 friendlies
We played a match yesterday.
RL3's underworld took on my human team. I won the toss and opted to receive. The game started with a pitch invasion, which stunned the underworld troll, and 5 or 6 humans. Then in a break with tradition, I did not injure anyone on my first turn, but instead RL3 injured one of my better players, taking him out of the next game also. He got the ball off me too before long, so I was thinking, OK nuffle is not with me today, fair enough. I feel I've had more than my fair share of luck in recent games.
But then! My stunned players gradually got up and made an impact. As the standing-up numbers on each side converged, I managed to stop the breakaway touchdown attempt, and inflicted a silly number of injuries myself, though RL3's team helped out too by failing goblin dodges at an impressive rate. Before long I had a 4 or 5 player advantage and sauntered into the end zone on turn 8. From this point on RL3 never had more than 5 players on the pitch at any one time, which made for a rather one-sided second half, as I always had 9 or 10 players available. Despite this I only managed to score one more touchdown, failing with a pass on the last turn to make it 3. RL3 tried many throw team-mates later in the game, and why not, but the last attempt ended in disaster as a 3SPP goblin got eaten by the idiot troll! I inflicted 7 injuries but none of them were serious (6 badly hurts, one miss next game) - the only permanent damage was that inflicted by the team's own troll... the game ended with 3 underworld players on the pitch - none of whom were standing.
I don't think I've ever seen a first half with so many injuries (if you exclude snotlings... they don't count :p). RL3 saw the funny side. I thought it was nice that they were very "friendly" injuries, as it was a friendly (almost all Badly Hurt). At least he got a level-up, and 40k in winnings to buy a new goblin to replace the recently eaten one. I got two level ups - a thrower to level 3 (after only 3 games - though he has taken 2 MVP's in that time) and a lineman, Quark, who has 3 casualties in 3 games. Who knew the Ferengi could get so nasty?
Well played - there was very little that could be done about that injurypocalypse - may you have better dice next time we meet!

Woo, high-injury games
Going to miss this Sunday again for some D&D. Might become a regular thing, looks like the DM is planning on having us play 2x a month on Sunday

Sounds fun :-D
I'm available this Sunday. Is it just Gandalf and myself?

Re: Post season-9 friendlies
Seems like it. I may be 10-15 minutes late. Rav - what's the latest with you joining us again on Sunday evenings?
Re: Post season-9 friendlies
Alas, the game between RL3 and myself did not complete due to internet issues. It was 0-0 in the first half, and RL3 had managed to kill one of his own players again

Sometimes you gotta remind your players who's the boss. I miss throwing gobbos to their death
