Vote for leader.
Candidate who gets 2nd most votes becomes leader.
Articles published about "why Trump won" - none seem to mention, because your electoral system is stupid. True we can end up with the same situation here, but it's defensible as we are electing someone locally to represent us... you guys are directly electing a president.

I also noticed that votes for "Other" is 3 times more than it was last election, no-one seems to be talking about this.

The electoral college is indeed pretty dumb.

That said, them's the rules. America pretty much came to terms with this back in 2000 when Bush was elected. I was about 10 years old at the time and was just straight up confused. That time Gore won by 550,000 votes (0.5%) while this time Clinton won by ~220,000 (0.2%)

If the rules were different, Trump would have just focused his campaigning in different places. Perhaps we'd have the same result. Perhaps different? And Trump campaigned something like at least 5 times more than Hillary. Although Clinton had her husband, Vice President Biden, and even the President himself all campaigning for her, so who knows?

I predicted a Trump win, although my prediction was demoralized by the constant media spam saying Hillary was up by 3, 5, 8 points. I would actually take the time to look at the poll data (hidden behind 5-10 clicks and often not posted at all) and found a manufactured lie that was repeated over and over again to the point it may have cost them the election: The media publicized statistically corrupted polls that oversampled Dems by 3-10% and ran them as truthisms. They call Trump's sudden victory as coming from a 'silent majority' when it wasn't silent at all, it was merely a covered up majority. They ran tabloid sex-talk stories for weeks instead of discussing real issues, policy, or say, Wikileaks.

They blame 3rd parties. They blame Bernie Sanders. They blame white people. They blame the uneducated. They blame the working class. But they never blame themselves. And never blame the DNC. Business as usual.

The DNC (Democratic National Committee) has been shaken to its core, heavily injured. The RNC (Republicans) have grown in power, but are themselves surprised and knocked off-balance by Trump. I hope they are both burned to the ground. With any luck one of these parties continues to implode and destroys itself completely so that something new may rise from the ashes.

Yesterday we had my son's 5th birthday party. We invited his class at school (because what else can you do?) and a few others. 33 kids RSVPd. 43 turned up if you count unexpected siblings. An extra 10 kids.

If you're a parent, tell someone if you're going to their party FFS. We wouldn't have minded but don't just rock up with 1 or 2 extra kids.

Also never ever host a 5th birthday party.

You wouldn't believe the things I've seen...

We did a swimming party when our kids wanted to invite the class, as that takes most of the time, and they are all a bit worn out when we got to the party room.

Generally Activities are the way forward IMO, (so far we've took kids Climbing, laser Quest, Swimming, Cinema) otherwise entertaining more than about 5-10 kids is a massively difficult Chore

On a semi-related note, Rock Up in brum is quite good for kids, took my two and they loved it/

Like a demented set of colourful climbing walls with all different styles and different stuff going on.
Your 5 year old might like it....

I'll bear that in mind because his inclination is to sit on his bum all day and play games (chip off the old block that he is :) ).

This weekend I go back to Wales, to go to the funeral of one of my best friends from my school days.

He committed suicide a couple of weeks ago.

He had his share of mental issues, low self-esteem, self-worth, depression etc. I can't help thinking, if I had stayed in contact if that would've helped somehow? He also tried to find happiness in relationships, which didn't work out too well for him. He leaves behind a son, who wasn't with his current partner, or with his ex-wife.

I'm sharing it here, not because I want sympathy, but because I want something good to come of all this. So please, if you're suffering with mental issues, find someone to talk to. I'm sure there's someone out there who would be happy to listen. Maybe you know someone whose life doesn't seem to be going that great at the moment - well - talk to them, maybe they need a friend. And finally don't look for ultimate fulfilment in a relationship. That's not how the good ones work - but instead on a mutual selfless desire to make the other person happy.

I'd mention God here too but that would probably turn some people off from the rest of this post.

I am sorry for your loss, Gandalf.

I have to echo the sentiment about not focusing on external happiness. This lends itself naturally to the opposite then: seek happiness from within. Love yourself and build yourself up first rather than focusing on things that may be taken from us at any moment or things that are inherently empty. When your core shines bright, it also shines onto all other aspects of life as well.

On a related note to that train of thought, I continue my exercise focus I've been on since about July of last year. I momentarily abandoned the strong lifting in favor of minor lifting and body weight exercises. From the original 200lb to 185lb, I am now at ~173lb and I've got my eyes set on ~165lb as my final weight goal. My longest run is up from 6.5 miles to 8 miles, w/ a miles per week of about 20. I've decided to run a half-marathon! (13.1 miles) Aiming for about July.

Also been cooking a lot lately! Mostly stir-fryesque. Eating a lot more green veggies like spinach, kale, and broccoli after I dab them in butter and onions.

My health makes the highs higher and the lows higher as well. Not to sound like an infomercial, but I feel like a hundred bucks! :)

I've upgraded my PC again, to bottom-tier but modernized tech. Pentium G4560 (2017), up from an Intel Core2 Quad (2008). Hopefully BB2 will work proper when I finally get it
