Merry Christmas, chaps!

Re: Post season-9 friendlies
Khemrimas Abom...
I hope father Ramtut brought you all some goodies, I got the BB 2016 box so I've been building little toy soldiers for the first time in decades. They feel a lot smaller now, and I know for a fact they've bigger...

Potentially, yes. Any other takers?
Re: Post season-9 friendlies
My slightly-wrecked Chaos team played RL3's necromantic team. The game followed a well-worn pattern which has happened a unreasonably large number of times in the last few months...
- I injure someone on turn 1
- I have the clearly better luck in half 1
- RL3 has clearly the better luck in half 2
At least this pattern doesn't dictate who ends up winning the game. This time this resulted in a RL3 2-1 win coming from behind and 3 players down... it was all a bit silly/unlikely but hey that's Blood Bowl for you
RL3 felt quite embarrassed at winning, though it wasn't all bad luck, I did a couple of silly moves in the 2nd half, got over-confident, and RL3 made good use of speedy doggies. At least the only serious injury was a zombie who got -ST, though it was a bit sad that 2 of the 4 casualties I inflicted were from a mercenary Warrior. At least MVP went to one of my actual players (a quarter of the squad were just there for 1 game
)

Re: Post season-9 friendlies
Its strange just how many games between us have had a turn-one injury. Weird.

Re: Post season-9 friendlies
Turn 1 injuries are the best as they set the tone for the rest of the game! It's Blood Bowl not Hug War :]
Missed last Sunday's game due to Dark Sun. Going to miss this sunday's as well as I bought myself a few PC parts as a belated Khemrimas present and wanna try out some games + benchmarks! Which means I'll miss the sunday after again due to the RPG...
But on the plus side, I'm almost modernized. :X I plan on getting on getting more even parts post Ryzen (AMD CPU) and Vega (GPU) once parts get even cheaper.

Hmmm.... our games aren't always super-violent... just turn 1 :p
I'm not available tomorrow, but may be midweek.

Sunday approaches like a gutter runner - who, other than me, is around and eager to play tomorrow evening?

I planned on making it today, but unfortunately ran into some issues. Looks like I'm sitting out yet another game. :{

Re: Post season-9 friendlies
No worries - the number of games that took place was, um, 0, so you did as well as everyone else combined!! :-D
Re: Post season-9 friendlies
Update from me - we've had a total laptop failure and there's a baby in the room with the desktop so I'm currently not able to play

Re: Post season-9 friendlies
Every now and then you get completely crazy games of Blood Bowl, where you can't really believe just what happened. Last night, RL3 and I had one of those games.
Go On My Son (Norse, WG, 1450) vs Taking Care of Business (Necromantic, RL3, 1150) + Wizard + babe + reroll
I recieved the kick-off and proceeded with the plan, which was to hit a lot of people, and walk in for a TD at the end of the half. Turns 1-4, it was working perfectly, it was something like 10v8, there was even one turn the Necromantics started with zero players standing. The only down side was I had caused a lot of KO's, and no injuries, so I may not have the numbers advantage in the second half. So on turn 5 by ball carrier starts the walk from his own half to the end zone. Then things started to go wrong for me. RL3 put in a couple of hits, resulting in KO's, and the numbers game wasn't quite so in my favour. Then I get some rubbish rolls and have to burn re-rolls. On my turn 7 my ball carrier is marked - but that player is all that stands between me and the TD zone, so I blitz him with another player with 2 dice but even after using my reroll it's a turnover (1 in 81 chance). Argh! Ball carrier gets lightening-bolted but I cna still score on turn 8, all it needs is a block to work, a 3+ pickup and a 2+ GFI. It all works apart from the GFI. Doh! 0-0 half time.
Second half starts with some KO recovery rolls - there were 5 necromantics suffering, and somehow there were 4 Norse too (I say "somehow" as the block count was well in my favour). All 5 necromantics get up (the babe did nothing as all 5 rolls were 4+!) and 3 of mine do as well (Yhtee stayed lying down). Erm, OK then. But then weird rolls were a feature of this whole match. RL3 received and gathered the ball. A few blocks later and some more KO's happen, and the Necromantics 2 or 3 players up. Twice RL3 got a warewolf in range of scoring but some heroic/lucky defending stalled it. The second time I had a player run in to pick up the now-loose ball, but he failed his GFI. Doh! The third time failed with some rubbish dice, so RL3 stalled for a turn and then scored. There were yet more KO's and no injuries in all of this.
So I had 3 turns to score, 8 players against 10 or 11. Yet more KO's happened and I entered turn 16 with ~3% of scoring, which didn't happen. Full time 1-0 to Red Lion 3.
Post game we marvelled at the stats. Zero injuries, but 15 KO's in total
unbelievable (somewhere between 1 in 2,100 to 1 in 10,000 chance, depending on your parameters). We both agreed the way Nuffle turned on me in the second part of the first half was just vicious. Fair play though to RL3 for winning, I thought his offensive play in the second half was really good & he covered off some potential moves I could've made, which I don't think he would've noticed 6 months ago. Massive lack of SPP's handed out (1TD and 2 MVP) but we both had a key player level up, got 50k / 60k cash and as previously mentioned no-one got injured, so these two teams are still developing nicely.

All the players may have survived, but are we sure that their brains did?
