So, what has changed? Sony did two amazing things to Planetside 2 in Game Update 3:
1) They “Reduced impact flinch and evened out flinch amount based on damage.
2) And “Reduced screen shake from explosions."
What does this mean exactly? I did some initial testing in the game with each of us trying out different guns at various damage ranges - 143, 167 and 200. There was a noticeable difference with increased flinch at the 200 damage range. Which faction are the proud owners of 200 damage guns in the carbine, assault rifle and LMG class? Let’s say it together – the NC! Does this mean the NC are suddenly flavor of the month? No. The 200 damage guns – The Reaper for medics, AC-X11 for Carbines and the Gauss SAW - all shoot slower than 600 RPM. The Carv, former King of the Hill, shoots at 698 rpm, almost 100 rounds per minute higher than the closest 200 damage gun. You could argue that the Gauss SAW is now a champ at the mid to long range, and even in CQB if you like bunny hopping, but more importantly this flinch change made gun play competitive. It means that when two people square off, regardless of damage, it’s the person who aims more accurately that will win the gun fight. The flinch change has not only brought NC up to par with the TR and Vanu, it has made every gun viable. You can now feel confident in choosing whatever weapon you feel fits your current scenario best and go to town.
The gun play is more satisfying than ever before. With reduced screen shake, you aren’t at the mercy of vehicles throwing your aim off. You can now enjoy those Rambo moments with your LMG of choice and actually be effective. Now your deaths are in your hands and not those of a faulty mechanic – we are once again masters of our own fate."
Flinching has been fixed, it seems
Re: Flinching has been fixed, it seems
I had fun playing it today, but I seem to crash about an hour-hour 1/2 into it.

Re: Flinching has been fixed- and CERT gain seems higher
I've been idly playing in the last few days, gathering certs to put thermal optics on the Dalton my my Liberator. It seems to be absolute and utter cheese judging from some gameplay videos on youtube. Infantry is immedeately spottable as white on the green background, so the 150mm cannon operator can just rake in the kills.
