R'rud can not believe what he is hearing so he pleads:

Ibun, I beg of you, have pity. If you do have to punish me, perhaps let my punishment be servitude to these five Wizards of the West until my time of penance is over?

(Can I say yes even though I'm sleeping?)

Hrm... Perhaps we can find a compromise.

The laws of the land must be upheld, yet I think this one's intentions were mostly benign. A public flogging might do good for his soul, but after that we could take him into our care and ensure that he doesn't stray again. When we leave, we shall take him with us and you shall never deal with him again. There are always tasks that we would much rather have a servant do, correct Lady Ibun?

[Thanks guys, luckily the council sent me here to help you; wouldn't want to miss a good flogging]

Bit worried if we try to cast mind bending stuff on Ibun too much she will cotton on. She seems far too switched on. She'll notice she is being manipulated IMO.

Now the danger seems to have passed Uther waits until no-one is looking then reverts back to appearing human.

"Oh great IBUN, this disturbance has been no bother to us, and we would appreciate if you released this, wretched, useless, poor benighted creature into our care.

"Who knows what use we could find for such a lowly servant? But as great wizards of power we would perhaps be able to raise him to be normal."

If we get out for the public flogging, take the opportunity to have a good look around, then cast Genius on the person doing the flogging, to make it as soft as possible whilst putting on the greatest show.

[Generally I'd be all up for Flogging, but Uther is always happy to try and make friends, or avoid making enemies, as long as there is little/no risk to him.

He'll make sure R'rud hears all about how Uther 'saved' him.

Probably at length.

Repeatedly. ]

A flogging to start festivities? I like this kind of party...

I've been a very bad boy, lots of crimes.
Who shall be the mistress and who also has done some nice crimes that's joining in on the fun?

[There is no risk in using a GENIUS idea to lengthen the flogging and make a REALLY good show out of it, and then claiming that you did the opposite and it would have been even worse if you didn't interfere. All it costs is a white lie :P]

After weighing the counsel of the Wizards, Ibun decides to go ahead with the flogging. After the party is all cleaned up, they descend from the mountain to the city square, where R'rud's very pretty behind is flogged by a giant.. what the hell is that?

Looks like a paddle..

The crowd laughs as R'rud squeals girlishly with every strike delivered by the high priestess. Despite themselves, the Wizards start to find it quite a hoot too, eating fruit and swigging drink from passing by cult ladies, laughing heartily at the festivities.

Ibun then unties R'rud and kicks him heavily in the behind, sending him crashing down face first at the Wizards' feet. Wiping tears of laughter from their eyes, they haul their new servant off the ground..

Now, there are a few things of interest in the carnival.

1. A big tent is attracting quite the crowd. It seems to be dancing girls!

2. The stage where the flogging took place is now being cleaned up in preparation for fighting tournament! Anyone game?

3. A smoky tent in a corner seems interesting. It just says 'fortune teller' without even trying...

4. Or you could enjoy the peasants' company and continue singing and dancing and eating.
