I wonder if it'll be playable with a pad?

It will indeed. David Braben's favorite, and the de-facto default seems to be an X-box 360 controller.

Spy always joked I'm like a sales-rep for Logitech when I kept recommending the Force 3D Pro to all my friends  ;D

Actually I'd like to start a discussion on controllers and such in preparation of the Elite launch.

My brother-in-law is going to go with an xbox 360 controller, and hopes his wife will be interested in joining us in the game. I fear it may be time to invest in a HOTAS and pedals for myself, but it's insanely expensive :O

The ideal for me would be one of those gaming mini keyboards on my left hand and a Wii nunchuck in my right. Failing that I'll use my 360 pad.

I have some promising info.

The game will have an allegiance like newtonian-with-top-speed flight model. The absolute maximum in the system is 500 m/s, which we know is a _lot_ for Allegiance style. Six degrees of freedom is also pretty much confirmed by the devs, so this should turn out to be a game that we like to fly around in.

I think we'll have a chance to meet in space again in about a year's time.  8)

500m/s? xJ and I rammed dreg bbrs to more than that already.
Mass driver is fun :P

OMG Phantom is here!!! Great to hear from you man :D

The ridonkulously expensive alpha has reached 3.0 now btw, so Beta isn't that far away anymore. The docking instructions are hilarious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ey22m46 ... lpage#t=41

Of course I'm here. I read at least once every week. I just dont post, usually. My last post was simply a hidden suggestion to play alleg while you are waiting, in case you didn't notice. :P

I've seen a video and at least some of the weapons are auto-aim. Well, they wont need to deal with aimbots if they provide aimbots to everyone.
If I want to watch a video of a ship shooting stuff I go to youtube, I don't want to be a spectator in my own ship.

Unless this changes I will most definitely not spend money on this game.
