Basically, Allegiance without the flying ;).

Two teams with one commander each, fight in a FPS shooter. Check it out if you can!

Natural Selection 1 is the game I always thought was most like Allegiance. Would be cool if someone could check this out.

Yeah, I've been playing since beta.  Its fun, another game where you gotta hop on voice coms and communicate or perish.  Kinda quit playing for a while, I grinded with my team till we were finally up enough for a dual minigun mechsuit for my novice self and my game crashed.  It was so cool when I fired up both those minis  8)

In comparison with NS1, it feels a lot clunkier.  Looks good and a lot of the alien abilities are hardcoded instead of modded, so they do some cool stuff there.  As hinted at above, I would just make sure you are well situated for the system requirements.

What'S the resource?

Also, close quarters means WAY more fast-paced than Allegiance. Sure Allegiance had dogfight sectors but it was the guys soloing/dualing miners in your sectors that were the ones winning the game for you. Signature was such and awesome concept that I doubt anyone will replicate it with the same degree of success...

You earn the resource by placing Harvesters in certain points of the maps. You basically need to defend those buildings.

And yes, it is far more fast-paced than Alleg. I doubt any game would get past the 20-minute mark.

A quick game is not necessarily a bad thing though.

Bought this a few weeks ago when it was on sale with a bit of money I had for xmas.

Played it for the first time for couple of hours last night.

Coming in cold, some stuff I found

- Game plays a bit like Aliens Versus Predator game (playing as alien side reminds me a lot of playing as Aliens in that game).
- Feels quite similar to Allegiance in number of ways. Suspect the developers have nicked a few ideas for things, but I can't put my finger on exactly what....
- Far more voice chat than I've heard in any online game with large team sizes for some time, commander has real influence on game.
- I was getting owned pretty bad (1/4 k/d ratio or so) but still enjoyed myself and wanted to work to make my team win.
- No system for buying extra kit etc. means everyone starts on same level, and builds up as team gets more kit.
- Quick games meant I got in 4-5 games of varying quality.
<Remember to put something witty in here>
