There is no road towards the bunker (I never described one). Its all grass with no preferential direction other than the door location. As Angleheart is considered higher in rank here, I will assume you guys go left :P Will write up in a bit.

[You have not tried globules yet, not a problem to advance the story atm, you need can opener or some way to open 500g baked beans

As Angleheart and Mori fought over the decision on which direction to go to, rank, although retired, won.

As they headed West, the forest did not change, the same nearly identical tree trunks stood out of the ground, the same bushes some with globules surrounded them. But as the hours have passed, Angleheart noticed a faint sound of rushing water. Half an hour later the forest was broken in half by about ~10m wide river with very strong current. River banks looked fairly dirty and protruded around 2m above the height of the river, they were covered with mud with a few stones sticking out at random locations. Although there is ~30-40 m gap between the trees, leaving a flat grassy area along the tops of the river banks, you still can't make out the tree tops. The sky seems to be just dull grey/green without any indication where the leaves would end and actual sky would begin.

After a bit of looking around you notice a backpack stuck to a lower rock of the opposite river bank, there is no sign of the owner.

[Map updated, hunger still not set, assume you have around 24 hours for thirst and around 48 hours for hunger] Current time : 8 hours since the epoch.

This river doesn't look very friendly to pass here, Angelheart.

You hungry yet? I'm not. I suggest we go upstream, hopefully we will come across some place that seems easier to ford. We do have to remember that backpack though, once we ford it, it might be worth our while to go back downstream after a little rest and drink (from the river).

Maybe we can find something to open the can up with in that backpack. Or who knows, a map, equipment, or whatever, if not we can use the material from that (or our) backpack to craft some sort of ceiling to pass the night under.

If we don't find something to open the can, we can try this old trick Capt. taught me:

Meme if you check the can design it would not work on WW2 one (as the cap is actually soldered over the body of the can, and the metal is much thicker than what you are used to) Plus you don't have any stones in your reach, its all been tree trunks grass/bushes and mud. The only stones are in the river bank atm and they are fairly large, plus youd have to climb down first to get to their surface :P

Plus, observation I failed to mention : The river seems to stretch into distant horizon in both directions. (On Earth horizon = ~5-7 km from the human height, one square in-game is around 30x30 km)

Nonetheless Mori, I will try one of the globules to see if they are worth eating. If they are, we can collect more along the way. I'll also take a quick sip of water (take off shoe, lean over the side of the river bank, dip shoe in water, pull it up by laces). I'll also put the pills I found in my backpack and fill the bottle with water. Let's head upstream and see if we can find a way to cross the river.

God, I love you Solar, you lost some clothing durability, but consider both of your thirsts quenched (I don't have time to set up math for hunger/thirst atm, ETA 1 day on it).

As Mori and Mr Angleheart head north along the river, they spot a glimmer of light in the forest on their side of the bank. Mori, jumping, points his finger at the light "Mr Angleheart, can we go see whats there, can we, can we, can we?" he shouts impatiently. Mr Angleheart, confused, looks at the Mori as if he turned into a kid, but as there are no other features around them, he decides that they might as well go ahead and investigate.

As they approach the glimmer, Mr Angleheart starts to make out the details - the trees made way to a small clearing in the forest, thick and tall bushes surrounded the light, but the atmosphere did not appear to be threatening. Mori was becoming more and more impatient, and as they reached the edge of the clearing, he shot off racing to the light. Angleheart swore to himself, and tried to call him back, but to no avail. He stayed at the edge, hoping to observe the surroundings better...

But as he heard munching sounds that clearly could not be Mori's, Angleheart raced to the bushes, trying to make his way to the light, revolver in his hand...

Not sure whether he was dreaming, or it was just fairy's fault, Angleheart found Mori sitting on the ground, cake with candles in front of him, while he was chewing on a chocolate "Angleh" word, a few letters already bitten off for sure. The rest of the words on the cake stated "Happy Birthday", while candles were the source of the glimmer they saw in the distance. The cake was covered with berries and looked very appetizing.

[OOC Thanks Xj, that was a really cool twist :).. Also, what was the effect of eating the globule?]

Mr Angelheart is a little confused by this unsuspected surprise. Nonetheless, Mori and he dig in. Afterwards he saves the ribbon. Who knows, it might come in handy later on.

[Bah, really busy recently, will keep updates short :/ ]

Angleheart and Mori wake up 2 hours later, lying next to the river... Apparently the water contains quite strong sedative, you still feel dizzy and weak (-25% on attributes for unknown time). [do you want to try globules now?]. But nonetheless you no longer felt thirsty and moved on walking north. 6 hours later you reach the new square, river unchanged, same trees everywhere, you do not seem to spot  anything interesting other than a mutilated body hung high up on the tree branch (or rather, you only spot it because the blood dripped on Angleheart's head). The body's hand is gripping on a backpack that is hanging in the air. (tree branches are very sparse and only begin at around 3-4 meters from the ground, the body is hung at ~10m height).

Mr. Angelheart tries a globule. Perhaps they help with the dizziness or will at least keep him fed.

Spotting the backpack Mr. Angelheart tries to acquire it together with Mori. Remembering throwing chestnuts out of a tree as a boy, he tries to do the same with the backpack. For this he uses deadfall from the trees, or rocks. If that doesn't work, perhaps Mori can give Mr. Angelheart a boost to the nearest tree branch. He can then use his agility to climb the rest of the way of the tree (if there are sufficient branches?).

Not enough branches, no deadfall or rocks around, the rocks dug into the river bank are too large to lift/dig out. [OOC : why not just throw the can of beans? :D ].

In a spontanous moment of brilliance Mr. Angelheart decides to throw the can of beans. He does take care of not throwing it too hard to prevent it getting lost.

It's like this place is constantly taunting us.

What do you think has happened in this place, Angelheart? There seems to be nothing around here but that bunker we came out from, and it did seem quite old, didn't it? Why is this dead body here?

[Sorry guys, really busy at work and trying to make an Alleg map for the event at home >.>]

Angleheart finally hits the arm clutching the backpack, ripping it off of the body. Backpack falls onto the grass, looking much lighter than the can that was thrown at it... Material appears ripped, with blood and bits of bone matter surrounding the holes.

Inside you find unusable Glock pistol (something hit the barrel hard enough for it to collapse, while the barrel exit looks a little melted), a few spent Glock clips and a diary. While diary is mainly ripped and covered in blood you manage to read a few pages :

-As per order, we are deploying to the New York anomaly. 30 highly trained soldiers and 5 egg heads that we need to protect.
-... it has unexpectedly grown ... lost half of a squad ...
-Eggheads going nuts about this place... food is running low... hunting...
-Lt sent out recon parties hopefully they will find something...
-...weird... catacombs ... ... ... anomaly?
-Egghead thinks the door... sent out more people
-We ... open! ... strange ...eggheads having a party...
-We thought we lost them! They returned 2 weeks late...
-Human settlement ... years ...
-Beasts ... claws ... size of a truck ...
-Most ... are dead ... egghead thinks we need to get back inside ... crazy!

Quick thinking on the can, but this is quite scary, Angelheart.

Evidencing what this guy went through... and he claims 30?! other soldiers, we seem to be in a bind. What time of day do you think it is?

I wouldn't like to face whatever the fuck happened to that guy in the middle of the night. Call me stupid (granted I am not very bright) but I would really rather see what the fuck I am facing or try to not face it at all.

I'd like to propose going back to the bunker... at least it would be a roof over our shoulders and something to hide in. It did seem deserted, right?

Oh wait... unless you think the door this guy was referring to in his diary was that door... or maybe it was some other type of door. Let's keep a look out for dry pieces of wood along the way back to light a fire too, maybe we can heat the can or the glock enough to puncture a hole in it.

Oh yeah! Don'T forget the can. Oh man. That was a good throw, wherever could it be now?

Quick note, for the ~8? hours that you spend outside of bunker, the lighting conditions did not change whatsoever.
