An entirely AD team - good idea?

Postby Gandalf » Thu Jan 03, 2013 6:48 pm

Grav says you can have an entirely AD team and win in the current version of LoL.

I haven't played that many games or studied the numbers that much, but it sounds a dud idea to me.

Any opinions?

Black Cleaver is still op... even with nerfs. But it is mostly op because of the nerf across the board to armor and resistances, coupled with the order change on percentage vs flat armor reduction. Before it used to be flat armor reduction applied first and then reudcing the percentage, now its the other way around, making it an even bigger reduction.

Sure, if you make it all AD the opposing team's tanks won't have to build magic resist but the beauty of AD is everything applies to it: autoattacks and spells for ad casters etc. Every AD (even Garen!) is an assassin now with enough AD items, especially with Blade of the Ruined King for those that try to stack HP.

Moreover, there is a LOT of burst AD heroes out there. Panth, Draven (once built), Talon, Nocturne, Khazix...

Edit: Rengar, Vi, Irelia, Fiora, Jayce, Darius, Lee Sin...

Edit2: Okay, maybe not Darius (Needs Gapcloser... but that's why god invented flash)

You basically seem to be saying "lots of AD = lots of damage." Guess what - so do AP characters, or AD/AP teams. I don't see how it can be argued that the new black cleaver changes the meta THAT much.

More arguments against....
There's no FoN now, resists in general are more expensive and there's more high armour items around than high MR.
I've only seen one team with 4 or 5 AD carries in it the last 3 weeks. It lost. Everyone on the other team got armour.

it doesnt really matter. All AD or all AP works. Its more about team composition and CC. You can do whatever damage you want if the enemy just mass ccs you for 5 seconds ...

All AD seems to me the same thing I've been doing lately. Just give Draven to Phantom and watch AD (and only AD) melt the enemy team!

All AD works - just not all AD carry. You need 2-3 tanky AD guys as well. Armor can easily be countered (1 black cleaver on a tanky aoe guy and LW on the main dmg dealers).

All AP has more of a problem since getting consistent dmg output is harder - unless you have and AS/AP teemo ;)  - and theres no magic resist reducing item replacing black cleaver (20 flat doesnt cut it compared to 25% when its about getting tanks down). Also please dont forget there are quite a few new items with magic resist including an upgrade of Aegis that gives 30mr to all and another 30 to self.
