It's not a case of not sharing interests, just not sharing all interests ;) In some ways that's healthy too because you can do stuff together and different stuff apart.

Or you can have kids and do what they want all the time instead ;)

I know, I know  8)  Any relationship that makes both people happy is a thing to be cherished.

It's just that me being me.... you're right. It's a very good thing that we have a lot in common, Spyball and myself  *blush*

Btw Rav, you mentioned that you'd probably enjoy Elite most if it's playable with console controlller. Quite a few people are enjoying it exactly like that, and I think it's popular with the devs for quickly testing stuff. I came accross this as a recommendation for those who want to do their flying this way:

Anyway it costs almost nothing and makes a huge difference...http://www.kontrolfreek.com

I'm the only RT member who pledged for Elite in the Kickstarter aren't I?  :-\

I wonder if I'm still the only one to have bought the game. Getting it now and waiting for the gamma release doesn't cost that much, and there is the option to upgrade to beta or premium beta if you get impatient like me. Personally I was just waiting to get the pedals, so thanks to id3nt1ty you guys can get proper insuder info from me soon  ;)

I think I should have pushed many of the more int-jockey RT members into going for the Imperial Bounty Hunter pledge back when there was the option. Starting the game with a souped-up long range fighter and some bounty hunter rep would probably have been a good match.

If anybody has any questions on how the game is (supposedly) shaping up, I've spent way too much time on the forum :)

Adept, your pedals are now under way. The UPS guy has just picked them up. Also, it's my birthday today so I'll probably pick up the Premium Beta tonight. Joystick arrives tomorrow with my sister-in-law, so I might start practising on the single play missions this weekend :D I need to practise my wrist action so that I don't regret not having enough yaw.

Cool, I'll check it out if I can. Also I have the Premium Beta. Although it turns out my joystick is the Force 3D Pro, not Extreme. Any idea what the difference is Adept?

Just for the benefit of other readers, I'll repeat what I said over Steam.

The Force version is the superior (and sadly now discontinued) product. No centering springs, but instead electric motors. Excellent stick.

Excellent stick.

I think I got the hang of some settings I'm happy with. I managed to complete the easy combat mission three times in a row with Flight Assist off. Now to try the missions where they actually mean it when they shoot back.

I really feel like a need more buttons. I wonder how long it'll be before I break down and get a separate throttle. As it stands I don't have the option of adjusting power distribution because my right hand it take up completely controlling the stick and using the hat buttons for directional thrust (this is key to FA off by the way). My left finger and thumb and constantly tweaking the throttle so my other fingers aren't in the right location for doing anything else. Adept, does the CH Throttle have a nice center position?

It doesn't have a center detent, but I still think it's the throttle to go for. AFAIK people use it as a positive only throttle, and modify with a button for reverse thrust (like putting a car in reverse gear). The mini thumb-joystick on the throttle is supposedly just about perfect for mapping the sidethrusters into.

Getting it to work properly in Alpha 1.1 is probably a gigantic challenge when using a non CH stick, so I would only get it near the change of the month so you'll have it when Premium Beta opens for us  8)
