Andon's Forum Game: Bounty Hunters!
Andon's Forum Game: Bounty Hunters!
How are you gentlemen? I feel the desire to run a forum game. The theme of this one is bounty hunters in space. Get your ship, your crew, customize them, and track down bandits and smugglers.
Any takers?

Re: Andon's Forum Game: Bounty Hunters!
Sounds interesting.
Re: Andon's Forum Game: Bounty Hunters!
That's three. I'd like four to get started. I will give more details when I get home. Drakon will be helpingme/playing in a unique way as well . He's not counting towards the four.
Re: Andon's Forum Game: Bounty Hunters!
I guess I could join in.

Re: Andon's Forum Game: Bounty Hunters!
Excited for this

Re: Andon's Forum Game: Bounty Hunters!
2758. Earth was left behind long ago. Sure, people still live and work in the Sol system. Hell, it's probably the single most populated system. Alpha Centauri might give it a run for its money in a century or so, but for now, Earth reigns supreme.
But that's not us. We're out in the ass end of space. We're sixteen hundred light years from Sol, and that planet's reach doesn't come out here. In this sector of space, there are the Twelve Systems. Officially, they're all under one government. In reality, each system has its own government, its own laws... and its own enforcement. Pit them against each other and you can make a good living. You're new here, so I'm going to tell you about the systems.
Now, we should get on to your business....
Ships: Each player will have a single ship. Each ship has a multitude of systems, each of which are explained below:

[member=7]Raveen[/member] [member=26]Solarflux[/member] [member=20]notjarvis[/member] [member=37]LtSpinx[/member] [member=16]id3nt1ty[/member] - I want each of you to choose a starting location. You also have 175,000 credits to spend, but don't go spending them yet. Where you start will change what's available to you. Also, please list your character's name, and spend the points for character creation as listed below.
- Parth is the most populous system. Pretty much everything you could need is there. From Parth, you can take a gate to Longate, Ido or Third Osiris.
- Longate, on the other hand, is probably the least populated. System doesn't even have any planets. It does have some mining stations, and Nur-Co has their headquarters here. From Longate, you can get to Parth, Third Osiris, and Belview.
- Third Osiris, aside from having a strange name, has one of the habitable worlds. Not nearly as nice as Parth, but there are people there. And where there are people, there is money. From Third Osiris you can get to Longate and Parth.
- Belview is pretty much the center of the sector. You can get to practically anywhere from here. Belview connects to Longate, Stormlord, Meketh, Pursin, and Blink. Unsurprisingly, Belview Corporation is based here.
- Stormlord is my least favorite system. The primary planet there is prone to, you guessed it, storms. Big ones. Don't ask me why anyone wants to live there. Something about the resources on the planet or something about endangered species... I don't really care much. From Stormlord, you can get to Belview, Ido, and Meketh
- Meketh is the home of the Globan Shipyards. Aside from that, it's pretty boring. You can get to Terasie, Belview, Stormlord, and Pinnacle from Meketh.
- Pursin has been settled the longest, although it's so close to Belview that the two have arguments all the time. Not much goes on there. You can get to Belview and Vandaruul from here.
- Blink is a funny one. Small system, just one planet. As the saying goes, "Blink and you miss it." Hasn't stopped Martin Shipyards from making their home here. Along with Pusin, it forms a link between Belview and Vandaruul.
- Pinnacle is a wonderful system. The main planet is pretty idyllic, but the single exit to Meketh makes it a little out of the way to become a trade system. Hasn't stopped tourism, and Halo has made their base here.
- Vandaruul is the biggest waste of time for official business. Bureaucracy everywhere. You need ten levels of permits just to use the bathroom it seems like. But that's only officially. There's plenty of unofficial things to do. You can get to Blink and Pursin from Vandaruul.
- Terasie makes most of the "Natural" commodities. If by natural you mean genetically engineered and modified plants and animals. Feel free to take a tour of the forests, but don't ask about the animals. They are ugly.
- Ido is a nice place. Bit spacious, lacks a habitable world. But lots, and I mean LOTS, of opportunity. A few of the low-grav moons have great resources, and if you can get some of them under the table, you can make a few.
Now, we should get on to your business....
Ships: Each player will have a single ship. Each ship has a multitude of systems, each of which are explained below:
- Propulsion units provide a ship with movement and power to other systems. Each unit has a Speed rating, which modifies the ship's base speed, and a Power rating, which is how much power is generated per turn. To determine a propulsion unit's total Speed bonus to a ship, subtract the ship's Size from the Speed rating of the Propulsion unit.
- Armor provides direct protection from attack, physically blocking weapons from damaging interior components.
- Sensors provide detection of other craft, stations, ground installations, and the like. Sensors have Detection Range and some have Active Sensors. Active Sensors can use higher power to increase Detection Range, but cause a massive increase in the ship's Signature.
- Utility devices can be a multitude of items, from shield generators to cloaking devices to extra living quarters. Each utility item may have different stats or special rules, as described in the item's profile.
- While not a system, Officers affect how the ship runs, and can calibrate systems to perform differently. Officers are still part of the ship's Crew requirements. The player counts as an Officer.
- Weapons are the offensive items of the spacecraft. Each weapon has an Accuracy and Damage rating. Some weapons require Ammunition and thus have Ammunition (Given in number of engagements with that weapon), and some weapons require Power and thus have Power requirements (Given in power used per engagement). Weapon Signature is always counted.
- Speed is how far the ship can travel in a single turn, without any modifiers from the ship's Propulsion units.
- Signature is how detectable the ship is. The lower the signature, the better. Signature is a percentage of other vessel's Detection Range. A ship with a Signature of 50 would be detected by a ship with a Detection Range of 100 at a range of 50.
- Power Storage is how much power the ship can hold.
- Crew Quarters is how many crewmembers the ship can support, while Minimum Crew is the minimum number of crewmen needed to operate the ship. Officers count as crewmembers.
- Cargo Storage is how many items of cargo the ship can carry.
- Ships of Size 4 or Size 5 cannot land on planets. These ships have Shuttles to carry cargo to and from the surface
- Belview Corporation is a manufacturer of small vessels favored by police and security forces.
- Cobra Enterprises manufactures high-quality sensor arrays
- Dragon Industries manufactures a number of commodities and other general purpose goods.
- Globan Shipyards builds many civilian vessels, mostly smaller multi-purpose vehicles.
- Halo Corp builds high-end luxury ships, and proudly espouse "Form over Function."
- Komodo Technologies is a manufacturer of ship drive systems and associated technologies
- Martin Shipyards is a manufacturer of a number of adaptable ship hulls.
- Mikal Transporters has a massive section of the local market, supplying most freight hauling vessels to the sector.
- Nur-Co bills itself as a "Defensive Weapon Supplier" and while it has been investigated numerous times, it has never suffered any fines.
- Paramount Industries is a leading supplier of entry-level ship systems and user electronics. While they aren't expensive, their items are sometimes considered cheap or knock-offs of other corporations' products.
- Scion Corporations is a diverse manufacturer of everything from basic commodities to military-grade weapons.
- Viper Security manufactures ship weapons and armor along with other security and enforcement items.

- Utility Slots: The I-9 has 2 Small Utility hardpoints.
- Weapon Slots: The I-9 has 1 Small and 1 Medium weapon hardpoints.
- Crew Quarters: The I-9 can support 1 Crewmember.
- I-12 Interceptor: The I-12 is one of the newest interceptor craft produced by Belview, and while it is significantly larger than the I-9, the increased size allows it to carry more of everything.
- Utility Slots: The I-12 has 1 Small and 1 Medium Utility hardpoints
- Weapon Slots: The I-12 has 1 Small and 2 Medium weapon hardpoints.
- Crew Quarters: The I-12 can support 2 Crewmembers.

- Utility Slots: The P-18 has 2 Medium Utility hardpoints.
- Weapon Slots: The P-18 has 2 Small and 1 Large weapon hardpoints.
- Crew Quarters: The P-18 can support 5 Crewmembers.
- P-3 Patrol Craft: The P-3 is one of the oldest ship designs still being built. It has been upgraded, overhauled, and redesigned throughout the years, but the design and concept is a popular and solid one.
- Utility Slots: The P-3 has 1 Small, 2 Medium, and 1 Large utility hardpoints.
- Weapon Slots: The P-3 has 1 Small, 2 Medium, and 1 X-Large weapon hardpoints.
- Crew Quarters: The P-3 can support 10 Crewmembers

- Lane Trotter: The Lane Trotter is a small, entry-level ship. It is fairly cheap, but its small size limits customization some.
- Utility Slots: The Lane Trotter has 1 Small utility hardpoint
- Weapon Slots: The Lane Trotter has 1 Small weapon hardpoint
- Crew Quarters: The Lane Trotter can support 3 Crewmembers.
- Star Hound: The Star Hound is a more advanced smaller vessel, with improved propulsion capabilities, more utility slots, and more weapon slots than the Lane Trotter.
- Utility Slots: The Star Hound has 2 Small utility hardpoints.
- Weapon Slots: The Star Hound has 2 Small weapon hardpoints.
- Crew Quarters: The Star Hound can support 5 Crewmembers.
- Thoroughbred: The Thoroughbred is a workhorse among Globan ships. It is large enough to be customized yet is still fairly cheap.

- Archimedes: The Archimedes is a small cargo hauler, often compared unfavorably to the Mikal Type III. The most common misconception is that it is the same speed as the Type III - While the book stats say this is correct, the Archimedes has Martin's own "Trucker" propulsion unit installed, granting it a slight edge in speed.
- Utility Slots: The Archimedes has 1 Medium Utility hardpoint.
- Weapon Slots: The Archimedes has 1 Small weapon hardpoint.
- Crew Quarters: The Archimedes can support 5 Crewmembers
- Diocles: The Diocles is an average Size 2 Cargo Hauler, and while it has a smaller cargo capacity than the Mikal Type V, it has an edge in speed.
- Utility Slots: The Diocles has 1 Medium Utility hardpoint
- Weapon Slots: The Diocles has 1 Small and 1 Medium weapon hardpoints
- Crew Quarters: The Diocles can support 5 Crewmembers
- Vitruvius: The Vitruvius is possibly the fastest Size 3 Cargo Hauler, something that Martin has tried to play up to potential buyers.
- Utility Slots: The Vitruvius has 1 Large Utility Hardpoint
- Weapon Slots: The Vitruvius has 1 Medium and 1 Large Weapon Hardpoints
- Crew Quarters: The Vitruvius can support 7 Crewmembers
