1th??? :)

I've updated the schedule to match reality and added a results tab (it doesn't do much but it's a handy record). Well done to everyone for getting games in on time, it's not a problem if you're late but it helps that you're not :)

There's at least two wrong results in there...

Looking ahead to the final two games of the group stage and there's some hot Elf on Dwarf action to be seen isn't there, Bob?

You make that sound really dirty, Jim. And arousing.... Anyway, it's the mountains versus the forest as the Brewers Brawlers play the Everglade Wanderers. It's a grudge match for the Wanderers who want to make up for their game against the Brawlers last season and it's a grudge match for the Brawlers because that's how they feel about pretty much everyone they've ever met. It's possible that the Wanderers could win their division, Jim, but only if they manage to score a massive number of touchdowns to beat the OverCheesers score. It's unlikely but it'd be a match to remember if they manage it.

Thanks, Bob. In Badger division it's the renegades taking each other on in a contest of evil. The Dark Elf Witch Gate Wanderers play the Champions of Corruption. The Wanderers have won the division unless they take a bad loss which just might happen as the Chaos Dwarves are looking to avoid a whitewash. There'll be frayed tempers and flayed skin before the day is out.

No it isn't. Bob's taken a few too many blows to the head to be a reliable guide to these things!

Our division is a bit crazy, I think any of three teams could finish second despite only two of us playing this weekend :p

I've updated the schedule to reflect the first stage of the knockouts. Jim and Bob will be along shortly to give their views on the group stage and preview the playoffs.

We have a week off this week because Ident can't make it so that gives me plenty of time to try and get the various sytems in place (like get BB to recognise that it's a knockout and play overtime if needed and so on).

Excellent. Two weeks to learn how to beat Lizard Men.

Welcome everyone to Smash of the Day with 3 times Blood Bowl medal winner, twice nominated “Most Brutal Playerâ€ and convicted felon,  Bob Bifford and me, Jim Johnson,  bringing you all the action from the RT Cup.

Thanks, Jim, it’s great to be here again isn’t it?

It certainly is, Bob.

It’s all go in the RT Cup, Jim, as we’ve completed the group stage of the competition.  In Fellentos Division the OverCheesers came out on top with a record breaking 10 touchdowns in three games. You’ve got to fancy the Skaven going forward into the playoffs with that kind of scoring power.

You certainly do, Bob. The OverCheesers will be playing the Champions of Corruption. The Chaos Dwarves will be no pushovers and might just have the defensive chops to keep the Cheesers out of the game. It’s not a foregone conclusion by any means.

Second in Fellentos Division are the Wood Elves of the Everglade Wanderers.  Unusually for Wood Elves, the Wanderers have been playing a rushing game and it’s paid off, resulting in 8 touchdowns over the group stage.

That’s right, Bob, and they’ll be playing the third placed team from Badger Division, the Grimm Grimms. The humans have been carrying a number of injuries over the group stage but on their day they’re a formidable prospect. The elves will have to work on their dancing to get past these veterans.

The winners of Badger Division are the Witch Gate Wanderers who romped home with 2 wins and a draw. The Dark Elves are looking confident going into the playoffs with a full team and some quality players. I’m obliged to mention Rhiannhor at this stage, partly because the blitzer is the most experienced player in the competition, and partly because he’s got my family and promised not to hurt them if I mentioned him.

Typical of a Dark Elf, Bob, absolutely typical. They’ll be playing the Brewers Brawlers. These Dwarves have been around for a while and most of that time has been spent in the pub. That explains their preference for high risk plays and long passes. It’s almost unheard of for Dwarves to make this work, especially after 17 pints a head before each game.

Badger Division’s second placed team, Jim, is Saur’d of Justice. These investigative Lizards travelled here under mysterious circumstances and their investigations haven’t finished yet.  The raw strength of the Sauri makes them a terrifying prospect and the speed of the Skins gives them an ability to stretch the field of play that’s unmatched in my opinion.

That’s true, Bob, but the third place team from Fellentos Division, SuchDodge, will be taking it to them and hoping that all that strength will be worthless against opponents that dodge out of the way. The Amazons hail from the mysterious continent of Lustria, just like the Lizardmen but don’t expect either side to go easy on the other. It’s do or die at this point and every touchdown counts.

Odd thing to say about a team with twice as many passes as anyone in either division! Some of them were sideways so didn't get much credit in the yardage charts. Getting lots of running yards in any team with movement 7+ (see Elf teams, Skaven or Lizardmen) is pretty common surely.

I was hoping Ernie might get a mention for being top scorer and having a silly name :p

You don't have to put up with my fluff, you can always write your own :)

As ever the standard excuse is that Jim and Bob aren't necessarily reliable.

So what's the deal with the play-offs? Are we going to be getting together to spectate the finals? Could be a lot of fun...

Spectating would be nice for the last game (playing would of course be nicer ;) ). Idan has spectated a couple of games so it can be done - you join once the game is in progress and fast forward up to the live moment.

We could even record the game and commentary and publish it on youtube for absolutely nobody to watch :)

I just realized that I'm attending a wedding tomorrow.

It starts early, so I might make it back, but I can't promise anything. :-)
